New Movie Poll Structure Explained
Added 2024-07-25 06:41:00 +0000 UTCHey guys!
Just a reminder, this is roughly the new structure we are going to trial on the channel with movie reactions. This is a guide and not set in stone. We may use the same category 2 weeks in a row or even chose our own preference etc on occasion.
Movies will remain as every 7-14 days, due to how difficult movies are with copyright and how long they take to record, prepare and edit. You will be notified when these shifts from weekly to fortnightly, and vice versa occur.
What movie rotations will roughly look like:
Week 1 Action/Adventure
Week 2 Thriller/Suspense
Week 3 Drama/War
Week 4 Comedy
Week 5 Animated Movie
Week 6 Quarter Quell (weeks 1-5 runner ups all in a poll)
Week 7 Movie series (movies with 2+ of its kind)
Happy to hear any feedback in the comments down below. We will likely refine this over time so let's see how we go!
Also for those wondering, Schindler's List Uncut Reaction will be live in demi-god tomorrow around our usual upload time :)

I know you guys don't do horror as a genre, but "It" (the recent version) feels very much like a feature film version of Stranger Things. There's a pack of kids (maybe 12 years old?) who together battle a mysterious evil. Young Finn Wolfhard (aka: Mike) is even part of the group. It's technically horror, but if you dig the vibe of Stranger Things (mysterious events in a small town and a brave, hilarious group of friends to confront it) it's probably something you would enjoy and it definitely makes a good reaction movie. There's also a sequel, if you like it.

2024-07-26 13:37:10 +0000 UTCLooks like we will do 4-5 rotations each year then, allowing for series and not every week having a movie. Cool

2024-07-26 11:28:48 +0000 UTCStar Wars, LotR , GoT they all have haters but you cannot deny their greatness they sit in a league of their own above all other movie series/tv series respectively, I do also personally like other movies more than Star Wars (mainly cuz the 3 older ones' sfx are really outdated for today's standards and their clunkiness takes you out of the immersion), but if tomorrow all movies and tv series were to disappear from existence except 5 and humanity had to come together to decide which to keep, these would have to be in their respective top 5 movie series/tv series lists.

2024-07-26 00:16:19 +0000 UTCI would just day Drama, not Drama/War. Since i think it would make some choices a bit confusing, most war films fall into Drama anyway but they can also fall into action or even comedy. Also most dramas are not war films.

2024-07-26 00:14:31 +0000 UTCKorean cinema is wild they should get some in here

2024-07-26 00:13:05 +0000 UTCHey horror has some gems in it. While yeah the mainstream side of the genre usually gets filled with mid movies, there are some classics that are a must watch like The Exorsist ot Rosemarys Baby. Also more recent movies that are also amazing are Hereditary and Longlegs, fucking insane movies and good for reactions

2024-07-25 21:56:57 +0000 UTCStar Wars is going to happen at some point, don't think it will be polled because the demand is so huge. Its one of the best things to grow a reaction channel, but it takes time to do, so its more about when they have a good window to do it moreso than it being done.

2024-07-25 21:53:24 +0000 UTCI would suggest one week for non-English speaking movies, e.g. Indian, Korean, etc. These movie industries have some really great gems.

2024-07-25 20:52:47 +0000 UTCI'd have to hire hackers to rig the poll if ya'll ever try to let Star Wars win one of them... no sir

2024-07-25 18:45:38 +0000 UTCStar Wars is in the conversation to be the best movie series of all time alongside Lord of the Rings which you have already watched, so no offense to the other recommendations but this is a truly must-see. That being said I would also be happy with the Maze Runner (a couple of GoT characters there for them to enjoy)

2024-07-25 15:34:58 +0000 UTCThey don't do horror because horror's boring and sucks as a genre. BTW That's my reasoning, not theirs, they just don't like it lol

2024-07-25 15:34:19 +0000 UTCI would love for you both to experience anything from Quentin Tarantino. I think it's lovely to begin with his earlier work. It is mind-blowing to see how Q did so much with so little... such as his masterful Reservoir Dogs.

2024-07-25 14:59:25 +0000 UTCFor Animated films you guys should start with Studio Ghibli movies !! such classics

2024-07-25 12:53:58 +0000 UTCI get what you are saying, but I disagree. It is true that most movies can fall in multiple categories but to me Sci-Fi for sure is a category in and of itself. But that is just my opinion (my 2 cents as they say) so no more valid than that of others.

2024-07-25 11:41:11 +0000 UTCI really think itโs best to split them into categories ๐๐ฝ

2024-07-25 11:09:00 +0000 UTCI think a modification could be at least 2 movies from each in a row, but both decided on the one poll, 1st place goes first, runner up goes 2nd, then onto next genre, quarter quell could be 3rd and 4th place from each genre.
Kairos
2024-07-25 09:53:19 +0000 UTCagreed. best era of cinema was 1980 to 2000 imo. so many good films.

2024-07-25 08:08:09 +0000 UTCI would only ask if the first week of every genre in this new system will get a massive list? I remember the first movie poll months ago had like 20 movies or something like that and then only the ones with more traction stayed so by the end the polls every week were the usual 5 to 6 movies. Im asking this to know if theres a specific list in place of what movies fall into which categories. So like you wouldn't be expecting a movie thats an action comedy to be poping in the action poll when in reality you guys have thought about it as a comedy.
Pablo
2024-07-25 07:48:59 +0000 UTCI think that some of the categories you mention for the most part they fall into the ones already there. For example if you talk about "Alien" that is a sci fi and a horror movie at the same time. But mostly i think it would fall into the suspense category as would most horror films. The same way maze runner would fall into action but in this case it would fall into the movie series since that what it is. My point is that this list is probably the simplified version of a lot of genres that would eventually just fall into simpler ones.
Pablo
2024-07-25 07:36:29 +0000 UTCFeels like missing a few categories (horror was mentioned, maze runner also came up a few times, so that's sci-fi). And to reply to Paul, add in maybe also classics (in general, ie. movies > x years, splitting them up by decade might get unmanageable).

2024-07-25 06:49:34 +0000 UTCI like it. The only addition I'd make is a time it was released category too (90s, 2000s, etc) Got to get some classics in. ;)
