I love the show, season and episode, but I hate when writers can't commit to a monumental character death. Everyones reaction was similar to Pudgey, the outpouring of emotion for Max, it was written perfectly. To just go 'lol no El can revive people' is such a shit show imo. Sometimes on reactions I just stop watching right before the scene where she does whatever she does to heal her, and pretend the season ended there.

He is my favorite character and hopefully in the next season he gets to show his skills again and fingers crossed that he finally gets the girl 😂

Jason and Billy being a part of the war with our protagonists would’ve been cool to see. I don’t like their characters as much as I liked their potential (Billy and Jason, I loved Eddie lol).

2024-07-25 12:03:49 +0000 UTCI feel the same way about Steve and Nancy. It feels wholly unnecessary to bring the love triangle back. It feels tired and unoriginal. I had the same take as you about the look on her face before Robin interrupted them. Steve seems unaware that Nancy doesn't want to settle down in Hawkins and start procreating, Jonathan on the other hand seems willing to let her go rather than stand in the way of her ambitions. To be completely honest, I'm not sure Steve truly wants Nancy back because he's madly in love with her, I think he wants to find that person to settle down with and with her it's comfortable and familiar, and ending up with her is something he used to envision. I also noticed that the characters who talked about Nancy seeming to still have feelings for Steve were the characters who didn't really know her all that well. None of the characters who do know her expressed any such beliefs, IIRC. If they don't want Nancy to end up with Jonathan, I'd rather they just have her end up with someone else, or - gasp - single at the end of the show. If they want Steve to have a love interest then write something new for him. They made a lot of fans root for him and Robin before we found out she is gay, so obviously they know how to write something like that for him.

They just had to fill in the gaps to get there, so it was Vecna since season 1 episode 1. Recently I have watched your stranger things reactions and other reactions of stranger things and I realized that they have been hinting at Vecna this entire time and Will further proved that. In season 2 when will was possessed from the mind flayer, he kept on saying "he likes it cold" and "he made me do it.". At the time as viewers we did not know it was Vecna. In season 3, during the sauna test, before Billy got possessed by the mind flayer he said "He made me do it" and like we saw in this episode, in season 3 when Billy was talking to El after she saw the source, he said that "we have been building this for you". Vecna was talking to el directly. When el and max went to heather's house in season 3, and when we saw Billy recognizing el, it was actually Vecna remembering el because it was him. Talking about Vecna's powers he was not experimented on at all. The way he obtained his powers is still out in the open, but I believe that Henry was just born with his abilities and he knew his mom was in contact with Brenner which is why he did not want to go because he knew what Brenner would do to him. Anyway, I sort of went on a rant, but I loved this reaction and your entire Stranger Things journey. I actually have a request. I was wondering if you could possibly start watching The Umbrella Academy if you haven't already. Season 4 comes out in August and it is the last season. You don't have to start watching it, but I would love it if you guys stated watching it. It is a very good show.

His bro is reassuring him that he will be there! (I actually think Johnathan will die in series 5). It just wasn’t noticed at all. - Hop using the Conan the Barbarian sword was epic. - I feel the dislike for lighter hearted characters a bit much, but each to their own, especially with the Billy fandom. - You were literally begging for El to get her powers back, then criticising it. She brought Max back to life, there’s a new ability. I find you guys find negative things for the sake of it. But each to their own.

I didn’t want to comment until the very last episode to see if you both would catch on. There’s a reason why he’s so attentive to Mike’s needs. This is something Jonathan has always known about Will and that’s why Jonathan reassures Will that he loves him no matter what. Remember this show takes place in the 80’s. Times were different. Throughout this season it becomes more evident how Will feels towards Mike. I hope the two of you can piece it together. They have been sprinkling hints since the first season.

On top of this Brenner said with every kill he just gets stronger, she was getting outpowered but then a speech all of a sudden makes her go into god mode and just breeze through Vecna despite him destroying her about a minute beforehand. I thought this myself when watching, I'd love a show to go in the direction of the bad guy wins. Like imagine if the show ended with Vecna winning and him creating this new world that he's imagined and described. It'd be such a good turn of events from the usual good guys win, and I think it'd be more realistic especially with all the gates now open and Vecna being as strong as he is.

Given what we’ve seen and experienced for 4 seasons it’s easy to say Jason is a bad guy and is the reason Max is in a coma. However imagine being him, a normal high school teenager and your best mate and girlfriend have been killed. Now you’re being told some demon like creature from another dimension that is parallel to your own killed them. I am not believing a word of that. It’s so easy to blame him for max being in a coma but he could not prevent that, and he didn’t know any better so stop acting like he purposely put her in a coma and stopped her from being alright😂it’s weird.

I like the route they went here because at the end of the day its a presumed dead parent returning to a 14 year old girl who has a lot of mixed emotions after the struggles she went through since his disappearance. I feel from that perspective her reaction in the moment is more fueled by relief that finally something went her way rather than surprise on how it is possible.

I mean cmon she restarted Max's heart! To me, it made sense for Steve to not try to get involved in fighting Vecna. If he was still connected having "left" his body, sure then by all means, get some swings in. But the dude woke up and you want Steve to go toe to toe with this crazy strong monster with psychic powers?? Noooo thank you, I'll let the women with ways to hurt him from a distance take the lead there. In my mind, if Vecna was still on the ground when the 3 came back outside, Steve would have gotten the final blow with the axe to Vecna's head, but my guy vanished ha I personally love Robin's character, she's a good balance for Steve imo

I always expected El to battle Vecna in a similar way (new power for her), by either using his bad memories against him, or let him see his good memories. 2024-07-01 03:14:18 +0000 UTCS & P I think that you may have slightly overlooked the fact that there are two things. 1: Eleven was able to eventually defeat Vecna whilst being in another state hundreds of miles away piggybacking through Max’s mind. She wasn’t even physically there. Never before has El been strong enough to do this to that extent before. 2: it seems she did gain an extra ability, she brought back Max from the dead. Imo anyone that is thinking El was kindof not that great in this episode hasn’t truly grasped what she managed to achieve in this finale. Also the way she bitched Vecna at the start of that fight was insane, but imagine trying to be that strong for a long period of time whilst only having a mental connection and not physically being there in person.

2024-07-01 02:30:41 +0000 UTCAgreeing with spartan here, especially rewatching this episode now, there are definite cringey/cheesy moments. A good amount of cheesy love scenes and cringey lines. I personally think this season peaked at episode 4 and 7. We all know max isn't going to die and eddie was a sad but predictable loss, he's too new. We didn't lose anyone substantial, and that kind of lessened the feeling of sacrifice/importance. These are all nitpicks though still an amazing finale and season and super pumped for season 5. Just wanted to back up spartan as I agree with that bit for sure. And to back up what pudgey said yeah El didn't look shocked by Hopper at all, she looked like she was expecting it all along, which didn't fit the scene at imo so agreed.

The Duffer’s have proven everything has meaning that they put into the show. And it is basically what Will drew in that drawing. Plus Nancy was saying there was a monster with a big mouth in her vision. Another theory on top of that is the thesalhydra is very large so the “earthquakes” are actually it moving around in the upside down.

2024-07-01 01:53:46 +0000 UTCThe only thing I strongly disagree with you about is the notion that Will should need his brother less and less as he grows older. I understand your reasoning for a “generic” kid growing up, but it doesn’t apply to Will because, given everything he’s had to go through in the first two seasons, it’s only relatively recently that he’s had time to really grow up and find out that he’s different and has to hide it from everyone (remember, it’s the 80’s). It’s clear from the previous episode that he’s in pain and his best friend (and possible crush or more) appears to be completely clueless about it. So he needs his brother now more than ever, and it was so heartwarming in this episode to see that Jonathan is going to be there to support and protect him as he navigates this difficult period. I WISH I had been that close with my brother and could have talked to him about it when I was going through it 15 years ago! To me, there are still so many unanswered questions from Season 1 that I think will be important for the final season. They told us this season how Will used the lights to communicate, but what about the phone calls that Joyce answered? Next, in all four seasons, we’ve never seen a demogorgon exhibit telekinetic abilities like Eleven/One; however, barely seven minutes into the very first episode, when Will runs back into his house and calls 911, we see a shadowy figure outside his front door and then the door seemingly unlatches itself. If that wasn’t a demogorgon, who or what really kidnapped Will? From the silhouette of the creature (especially its fingers), I guess it could’ve been a malnourished Vecna/One? And to Pudgey’s credit, why Will? Sure Spartan, it could just be “wrong place, wrong time”, but given the other peculiarities surrounding his disappearance, I’m not so sure! You should certainly rewatch Season 1 in your own time when you get a chance. Given the reality of how Netflix shows work, it’s possible that some of these peculiarities are just plot holes that were not clearly thought through at that early stage (and hence have no explanation). But I guess that remains to be seen when Season 5 comes out!

Some being that El is Henry’s biological daughter, he naturally took more of an interest in her….unless, he did that to all the other kids to just try and break free. He’s good at manipulating! Could be how 008 escaped. Watching all of them now though you get to go back and see the Easter eggs of Henry, his clock chimes and future monsters Nancy saw in the vision. Just so much to discuss but also too much time until we actually get to see it 🤪

So i think he successfully consumed max’s “soul.” Then el restarted her heart which brought her physical body to life but theres no “soul” hence max not being there when el went in her head at the end. Just a theory tho

There are theories that MAYBE vecna was the one in the pilot that knocked will off his bike on the road. Bc it didn’t fully look like a demigorgan. Also bc those demi things can’t unluck doors with their minds and that’s what happened before will disappeared. But who knows. I definitely think there is a bigger reason why /how Will is connected. I have so many theories. This season def had its flaws and things I didn’t like. But overall. I loved it. And can’t wait for season 5. I need it to end in a way that is so satisfying. 🤞🏼

No matter how many times I watch this, I am blown away by it. Lots of unanswered questions. Why is the upside down stuck in 1983? Why did Henry have powers? How is Max going to fair? How can Vecna be defeated - not with the current arsenal of weapons they have. When El said she would kill him again.... seemed very strange. He did not rise from the dead.

I think Brenner was right, in that El was not totally ready, so I can't wait to see the actual final showdown of EL VS. VECNA when it happens. Max's and Eddie's deaths ripped me, I was crying like a baby. Those scenes were so well done, kudos to the actors. What an epic season, I hope the writers can go out with bang and tie everything together well.

There is also a possibility that if it was Eleven who brought her back from the dead, another Stephen King story " The Green Mile" may offer insight into what might happen with Max; that being part of Eleven's power transferred into Max. We have really only seen Eleven's power used to stop & defeat monsters/enemies we have never seen her powers used in a manner like this before.

She was so scared, and after all that Max went through to end up with that fate is so so heart breaking. Caleb was incredible in his performance too. Honestly, this hit me harder than GoT.

Max ending up the way she did after she survived Vecna once was heartbreaking, Eddie dying too, the scene between Dustin and his uncle was so sad. Kudos to all the actors, they were all amazing in that episode. Honestly, I don't want anyone to die amongst our main characters, even at the end of s5. Nancy and Steve reconnecting felt like going backwards to me. Their path is not the same and this has been obvious since season 1. Remember when Jonathan told her "you try to be different but in the end you'll be like the normal suburban wife" or something like that in S1? Steve wants a simple, traditional family life in Hawkins, while she wants to be a journalist, go to university and probably go out in the world, she has big ambitions. Look at Nancy's face just before Robin interrupts them, she looked sorry, like she was gonna tell him that's not the future she wants. Eleven did turn back time to save Max which is a new power, it's quite the feat. I agree that the whole showdown between her and Vecna, especially the dialogue, Mike providing loving support, been there done that lol. And that creature we see in S1E1 is clearly the Demorgorgon not Vecna. Thank you for the wonderful journey guys, it was so much fun rewatching the whole thing again!

The reason for this I believe is because when Eleven got her powers back she ended up with a lot more untapped powers which she will need to unlock through training. Had she unexpectedly used new powers I dont think they would have felt earned.

The way he died and the way Dustin delivered those emotions...makes me cry every time. We all saw it coming but somehow were surprised to see Max going and even more surprised to see that Eleven brought her back (after crying my eyes out). So, is that a new power??? This episode, this season, all the reactions were amazing and i loved it, even with the controversial opinions. That's what makes it special, seeing people reacting differently to the same thing and see all the points of view. A bittersweet feeling now that is over. Saying a last goodbye at this show (for now) and excited for the next season. Much love, see you soon ❤️❤️

2024-07-01 00:30:52 +0000 UTCI am nearly certain that what happens with Max in the final season is 100% connected to the scene where we see her in the hospital with Lucas reading to her. There is no way Lucas is reading Stephen King's "The Talisman" simply as a coincidence. So much of this series pays homage to the 80's & pop culture through parallels. In fact a majority of season 4 & a lot of the series plot seems to have drawn from in part from "The Tailsman" among other influences. I think two scenarios are likely possible if "The Tailsman" holds the answer. The first being Vecna is now living inside of Max and that was his plan for entering the real world. The second possibility is Max's essence (soul, spirit or whatever metaphysical name you want to give it) is trapped in the upside down and they will need to rescue her. However where she is trapped may be further away & in different part of the upside down we have yet to see.

Hopper was the knight facing the demogorgon. The rest facing Vecna. The barbarian (Steve), Sorcerer (Robin) throwing a fireball, and archer (Nancy) for the ranged shots. And Eddie the bard for the distraction.
