We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

Don’t be a jerk. No ones born with knowledge. events are filtered through the country in which their taught or affected.

Fun fact: Band of Brothers was created and produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks (Capt. Miller) after they made this movie together. I promise you guys won’t be disappointed in BoB, regardless of when you get around to watching it.

Shay

I love you guys but you really need a history lesson lol

Rich Plumb

a must watch

Guadalupe Rosas

Hacksaw ridge

JSM -Tac

The old one is good too

Erika Bade

While they do look similar, the guy who stabs Mellish isn’t same who shot the captain.

Petteri Ahlberg

The war movie that has most shocked me to my core, to this day, is All Quiet on the Western Front (the 2022 version). Hopefully you guys will get to reacting to that. A true masterpiece.

Daenerys Targaryen

Great reaction S&P. It is nice to see this through your young eyes. Wow Pudgey 1998 - you are a babe. This movie has never ceased to make me feel entirely involved with my whole body and mind. Shout out to Tom Hanks (the captain). No matter the type of movie he is in, and there are many genres and roles he has portrayed, he is always the down to earth, humble person. No arrogance, grandstanding, or look at how great I am attitude. In this movie he is a hero in the way he handles things, puts people at ease, leads with a strong, quiet confidence. It makes me feel like his men could trust him to be steady, straightforward, and to not make rash decisions. I love the way he taught them the sticky bomb. Cool to see the treads come off the Panzers (I think that was the tank.) Staying true to his men, his mission, and what he was ordered to do helped him not only save Private Ryan but also be an example of what it means to earn it.

Lyn Hurst

Great summary of Matt's talents through the past and future.

Lyn Hurst

I have been to Arlington Cemetery. It is surreal, beautiful, and humbling.

Watching this for the first time with you guys. My great grandad Chuck fought in WW2 in the navy. Those scenes in the water at the beginning hit me deep. Those poor brave souls.

Natalie-Anne

Forrest Gump!!

Jackhammer

probably 1990 - 2010 era is the sweetspot for me in terms of story telling and way they went about it. there's obviously outliers on either side

Some excellent movie suggestions there. I've been hoping a The Patriot reaction graces our screens at some point.

In the U.S., the military draft made military enlistment required unless you were found unfit to serve. unfortunately, that caused several families to send all fighting age males into combat...resulting in some cases where all of that family's bloodline would end. it mentioned briefly about the Sullivan brothers that all died. In real life, that sparked a change in law making it that at least 1 male in the family cannot be sent into combat in order to protect that bloodline...hence Saving Pvt Ryan. and the draft itself didn't end until the 70's after which, military enlistment became entirely voluntary. LOL speaking as a US vet myself, I noticed Spartan saluted with his left hand it looked like...(unless the camera inverts like a mirror) you always salute with your right hand. shoulder to elbow is 90 degrees from the torso, and elbow 45 degrees leading your hand straight to the brow of the eye. saluting is thought to come from medieval times when knights had flaps on their helmets that they flipped up upon friendly knights to make eye contact with each other....so they say anyhow. M.I.A.: Missing in Action K.I.A.: Killed in Action P.O.W.: Prisoner of War (Miller didn't execute the German who killed Wade because Upham convinced him it was wrong to kill POW's). some of my favorite War movies: Hacksaw Ridge (Mel Gibson directed), The Patriot We Were Soldiers

Spartan is it fair to say you have a greater respect for movies made pre-2000?

Time for Band of Brothers

ChimneyJim

Band of Brothers, STAT! You won’t be disappointed 🙌🏼

Matt Kim

Ikr! I definitely wouldn't mind 2 movie nights 😊 I mean, it seems there are A LOT of great movies they haven't seen, so 😬

crispy chicken

This was the essential idea behind Flags of our Fathers, to understand that, behind the reasons or excuses that we make up to kill each other, we are, at the end, all human

Sarah

You guys NEED to watch band of brothers!

Emily J

Representing team murica today, ww2 style

My grandfather was a World War 2 veteran. I went to see this in the theater with him when I was a kid. He left the theater during that opening scene looking more shook than I’d ever seen him. Just insane realism and I can’t even imagine what memories it was bringing back for him.

James Woodford

Never seen Pudgey so stressed in a beginning of a movie lol. It is a fantastic film though.

Art

Watched this movie for the first time with you guys and wow… what an incredible film. So sad but so well done and it felt so real. Thank you for all current service members and veterans for the sacrifices you make to keep us safe. I definitely recommend watching 1917, it was also an incredible war movie and has some incredible cinematography.

Kai Westbrook

That Matt Damon dude does everything. He fought in world war 2, got stranded on mars and led an Expedition through a wormhole. What a guy 😂

Slow Shadow

Pudgey: „Like the Captain said, both sides are doing the same. We can’t pretend one side is more righteous than the other. We both have a cause and that’s what we are fighting for.“ I wouldn’t say the film said that no side is right or wrong. I am pretty sure everyone agrees that the Nazis were definitely evil. But i agree that it humanised soldiers from both sides and showed that they were just following their orders. I really like Spielberg and am looking forward to see your reaction to Schindlers List. Also Apocalypse Now from Coppola is another Great War movie that I can highly recommend you guys.

Rey Jr

Seems like you forgot the most important war film of all time: Come and See (1985)

If only....

lets gooooo.........lets keep this same energy for the dozens of all time classics S&p need to see

Augustine Lee

This is by far still one of the most realistic and visceral portrayals of what it was like in WW2. The commanders were absolute warriors because if they lost it, went into shock, or got scared then their whole platoon was dead. They had to stay firm and keep it together long enough to get through each battle. The amount of courage soldiers have... it's incredible. Arlington Cemetery would be a true heartbreaking sight to behold. It's hard to comprehend pictures of it much less seeing it in person.

I am LOVING weekly movie night with S&P. Polls don't even matter anymore. It's a nice surprise to see what we're getting each week.
