I really like that they dive more into the relationship between Max and Billy in this episode. It’s obviously very strained and complicated, but deep down they clearly care about each other. Do they ever say for how long they’ve been step-siblings? It must have been a few years at this point. It feels like they’ve both got so much trauma in their past that they each put up a tough façade to protect themselves, which in turn makes it harder for them to fully connect with each other. But as you noted, Billy clearly doesn’t want Max to think he’s capable of being the kind of evil that the mindflayer is, and Max obviously doesn’t want to see him put through hell.

2024-05-25 21:47:55 +0000 UTCFirst of all, I finally catched up on your ST reactions 😅 I think this is the show, and specially this season, where I saw you both having the most fun while watching it. Like, Avatar (cartoon) level. And yes, the acting is unbelievably good, I really don’t know how they got those people, but they are incredible in bringing emotions to life. A lot of people complain about season three, for me the only thing that I thought the whole time was “WHY the hell hasn’t Dustin’s crew thought about talking to Hop regarding the Russians at the mall???” I mean, season one was understandable all the secret, but now they KNOW that Hop would totally believe them. But that’s the only thing. Looking forward to see what you think about the second half!

2024-05-20 13:22:55 +0000 UTCJoyce has always been more observant and frankly, a better detective than Hop. Every season she witnesses and puts together that something is going on before him and always has to convince him so when I saw this episode I was like, "Finally! It's Season 03 and Hop realizes Joyces is a detective. Took him long enough." - Also, I think Billy's actor does a great job, but it was hard for me to feel bad for him because he was a straight up racist before he was infected and when he was crying that it wasn't his fault he was reaching for a weapon so I felt like he was trying to trick them and was kind of just gone.

Millie Bobby Brown actually did collapse from exhaustion and Finn Wolfhard caught her during that scene and they left it in to really show the dramatic effect. The textures were in season 2 in the lab from the soil samples they took from the rotting pumpkins.
