2024-04-20 05:23:34 +0000 UTCJust to explain a few things: Why Barbossa didn't/couldn't use his sword's powers on Salazaar? The magic on the sword can only be used against living people. Salazaar and his crew weren't alive they were ghosts (and could move through objects). Thus the ropes could not capture them. He could've use the power to speed up his ship to outrun Salazaar, but that was never his plan since he knew Salazaar was hunting his fleet down 1 by 1 till he got to him. Why is Will turning barnically? Will's transformation is minor because he has mostly fulfilled his duty, with the exception of Davy Jones. When he stabbed the heart and Jones fell into the whirlpool, he was responsible for ferrying Jones's soul to the other side, but he failed to do so, resulting in his appearance in this movie. Ironically due to this Jones was able to return.. How could Davy Jones return if he died in the 3rd movie? He didn't die, he was taken to Davy Jones locker by Calypso (since Will failed to ferry his soul) as punishment for when he showed the breathern court how to imprison her (he was cursed for eternity by Calypso). Once Henry broke the trident all curses are lifted, including his from Calypso. He was able to then return to the land of the living. He still looks tentically because THAT part is not a curse, but is a result of him not doing his job by ferrying the men who died at seed to the other side. (Key being he chose not to fulfil his job, that's why his crew became normal in the 3rd movie and not Jones because they didn't have a choice on fulfilling Davy Jones duty, only he did)

2024-04-20 03:47:48 +0000 UTCThe theory about Davy Jones coming back that sort of makes sense is that the duty of the Flying Dutchman and the heart of Davy Jones were two different things, Davy Jones had cursed his heart after Tia Dalma betrayed him, so whoever stabbed his heart had to give up theirs. Will stabbed the heart, and he was cursed, gave up his heart, so after the trident was broken it set him free, but the Flying Dutchman always needing a captain isn't a curse, but rather a "duty" forced by the goddess Calypso, so it went back to it's strongest tie resurrecting Davy Jones. A bit of a mind twister lol

2024-04-20 02:53:58 +0000 UTCApparently, it's neither "pentology" nor "pentilogy". It's "pentalogy" 🤓 I liked the movie, but for me it was the weakest (but still good). I do agree with Spartan about 4 being more of a sidestory, while 5 felt more in line with the first 3. I was a bit disappointed about the Black Pearl, aka the fastest ship, being caught by both the British ship as well as the Silent Mary. When Pudgey mentioned that Will might show up and help, I had the same reaction as Spartan: yeah, where is he? Shouldn't he have helped by now? So, a bit disappointed that he didn't help. Also a bit weird that Will seemed surprised about how Henry looked in the end, while he has seen him not that long before. I agree that it was a shame that we didn't get to see Barbossa use Blackbeard's power. I also felt that the witch was a little overpowered. She seemed to know everything, but couldn't just tell the location of the trident for example. Speaking of the trident, for having "the power of the seas" it seemed pretty weak.

And I'm glad you went with your gut over the poll 🤪 When Elizabeth & Will were reunited you could tell Spartan was seriously struggling to keep it together 😅 Most emotional I've ever seen him. What a fantastic scene that was & a fitting end to the Pirates journey 🏴☠️

The whole thing hit me in the feels, especially Barbosa’s death and the reunion with Will and Elizabeth. Also loved the flashback of a young Jack Sparrow, seeing Johnny Depp in his 20s again was wild! And Salazar was a worthy villain (Javier Bardem is such a good actor). After watching the whole franchise with you guys I’d say 1, 3, and 5 are my favorite.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer said in a recent interview that the current plan is to reboot the entire franchise with new actors 😔

Some of the extra characters you mentioned would have appeared as well to finish it with a nice bow. But… amber turd ruined it for us all. Great reaction guys, this one was a pleasant surprise to me as well when I first saw it. Sadly we will never see what woulda coulda been.

His own words at the beginning of the movie when speaking to the witch when she says “Ask yourself this Captain. Is this treasure worth dying for?” “I’m a pirate. Always will be.” I have to leave the room so no one sees how tore up I will get during their interactions when he realizes it and then she. And even the thought still pierces! FYI: Lieutenant Scarfield is Faramir from LOTR ☺️

2024-04-19 04:58:55 +0000 UTCReally only had two issues with this entry. First, they broke their own canon with the compass. In part two Tia Dalma states that Jack bartered the compass from her. In this one they retcon that, and say that he got it off his former captain. I hate it when franchises do that. Secondly, the whore jokes got way too much for my liking. Otherwise it was a really interesting and fun story
