And as a little easter egg, when hughie went to red river to "adopt a supe child" when they're looking through potential kids to be adopted, Marie's muggy and name pop up on the screen.

We've seen Marie use other peoples blood (her parents, the girl at the club) meaning she could just carry around a couple packets of blood in her pockets everywhere she goes. She doesn't NEED to be cutting herself every time, especially when she was training in the gym in that first episode. She's choosing to cut herself as a form of self harm, as her own form of penance for what she did to her parents (which is why we see her flashback to that moment almost everytime she does). Emma's is a metaphor for an eating disorder, sure she throws up to get small but we've never seen her NEED to get small, shes constantly doing it because she feels like she has to in order for her to be liked (from that boy to her youtube videos, its only ever for show) which is obviously a huge metaphor for women who make themselves throw up in order to get skinny, not because they NEED to, but because they feel like they have to in order to have value.
