Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl | Movie Reaction

Comments

Hey spartan & pudgy…love all the reactions you guys do! Just finished GOT with you guys 🙌🏼 and this movie…I think you two should look into a series,it’s called Black Sails. It’s kind of like GOT but with pirates! It has 38 episodes. Give it a look, think you two would like it

Gilly17

You guys should check out Black Sails

C Fazel

Watching this in theaters was just pure fun at the time.

DP

Would love to see you guys react to Dune as one of your next movie reactions. Im hearing there is even a new Dune tv show trailer premiering next week!

Scabal

Not sure if anyone else pointed it out or not, but the actor that played Elizabeth's dad was also the High Sparrow in Game of Thrones.

JayMez

I would say, judge for yourself, watch them all

AC Legend

It was a toxic relationship, both sides have said bad things. The point being actions are worse and it was proven Amber Heard has done far worse physically than Depp has.

Alex

Loved rewatching this with you! BTW the "Davy Jones's Locker" expression you were wondering about is an old sailor's euphemism for drowning/sinking to the sea floor

Luka Poser

Johnny Depp isn't as nice as you think lol it was shown in court he sent messages about Amber saying he would kill her and r*pe her dead body...like wtf the guy ain't as innocent as the media presented it!

Lara Amaro

Yes! These movies are so fun. You have to watch all of them.

Lou Dryka

I definitely get what you are saying and to be clear I will happily support whatever wins polls and this is a generalized comment and not specific to these films. There is a reason that most reaction channels poll for content regularly. It makes sense to do a poll because at the end of the day they have limited time, resources, etc. and getting assistance from editors costs money. This is their full time job and sole source of income and they need to be aware of how best to use their time as far as impact and results, so polls are quite helpful for this. For every movie or show they watch, another one with potentially different results gets pushed to another time. Every time they do a movie or show its a bit of a gamble, and if a video doesn't make get enough views or subs, then they lose money on that reaction or at best break even. So its best to gauge community interest with polls because each movie is basically a week. So thats 2 weeks of movies that people may or may not be interested in. They can always watch films in private if they are interested and they don't succeed on the poll. Yes, while some people definitely do watch stuff even if they aren't that interested to see the reactors thoughts on it, the majority don't do this if you look at these types of things for various channels (it can vary based on community and the specific content of course), because people have limited free time and limited interest, so its something they can't rely on. Most people, if they have free time to watch 3 reactions, they are going to watch say, 2 they like from here, and 1 they like from another channel, in most cases, vs 2 they like and 1 they have no interest in or dislike from this channel. The "you should always watch them all" thing gets tricky when you get into longer series that may be a lot more rocky. A good example is the Alien and Predator films. There are a bunch of them, but only a handful are actually well liked and in-demand. Almost no reaction channels do more than a handful of these that are the most popular ones. If they were to do all of them they would be actually spending multiple months of reacting and editing time, editing money, etc. on films that would likely not get enough results financially or views wise to be worth the time and effort vs something else they could've done over those months, so its something that needs to be gauged between their interest and the communities interest at the time. The more tenuous this is for them in a month or few months time period, the less ability they have to be flexible with upcoming future content because they have to balance out the losses with even bigger gains to keep the stability.

I have to agree that his character works much better as a supporting character. That doesn't mean his character is lesser than any of the others, sometimes a supporting character can be crucial to elevating the story or other cast. Its kind of one of those things where, his character works best in a certain dosage, and being the main focus is too much of a good thing. Its like eating really good candy. You don't want to stop but after a point you are just going to end up with a stomach ache and regret instead of enjoying it as much as you would otherwise.

SuddenImpulse

Haha that is funny. He really became his Elven character.

Lyn Hurst

The 2nd is so fun lol

Joseph Wells

An the only problem with the poll is that you might get a majority of ppl say to not watch the last 2 and then who knows, you could of really liked them. Most ppl are prolly still gonna watch the content from you guys whether they like the movie or not just to see if you hate is as much as they do lol

Chaz D

I kinda feel like despite what anybody thinks of the 4th and 5th movie, you guys should watch them to finish the whole series and form your own opinions. Esp bc your opinions don’t always align with what the majority of ppl think. That’s one of the things I like about you guys

Chaz D

This is pretty much a perfect movie in my book. The first 3 movies are better because Jack is very much a supporting character the others are not so much but they are worth a watch. The trilogy is Elizabeth and Will's story ( this comes through more in the sequels ) but Jack's actions are always needed to move the story along, the last two movies are focused on Jack. Johnny Depp did a phenomenal job with this character, what you see is all him, it was not written this way ( obviously they knew what they had by the 2nd and 3rd ) he just came up with all the mannerisms and funny quirks on his own. This is one of those movies ( plus the 2 sequels ) that are worth owning them on BluRay, the extras stuff on the BR is just gold. In an interview he said that his daughter was in hospital in the age of 7 due to her kidneys failing and he was with her there a lot and was very moved by those kids. He later often dressed up as Jack and visited children's hospitals to bring some joy to those kids, and he donated a few millions to the hospital where his daughter was. I think Geoffrey Rush who played Barbossa was also absolutely brilliant, such an iconic role I loved him from the minute he appeared on screen. Gore Verbinski did a phenomenal job directing this trilogy and Hans Zimmer as usual killed the soundtrack, its nothing short of iconic. Great reaction guys, very entertaining as usual, really looking forward to the rest. :)

neutchain

The second movie is my favorite, very much looking forward to seeing your reactions to that one.

SuddenImpulse

They did no worries.

SuddenImpulse

Spartan mentions this in the uncut, not sure if it got taken out of the edited for time.

SuddenImpulse

Unknown fact: in the scene where Jack & Will are under water with that little boat, Orlando Bloom actually got so disoriented that he started to talk in Elvish like Legolas 😂

LtGambler

Mine to, holds up better than movies now

Corey Nixon

🤭 omg love the commitment. We are so glad you're enjoying the content!!

CpaSpartan Pudgey

It's in our uncut 😁

CpaSpartan Pudgey

So glad you finally watched it! Dead Man’s Chest (the next one) is one of my favorite movies ever.

Matthew Chernesky

I watched this in theaters when I was in high school, and it's the first movie I ever watched where there was applause at the end. Definitely a top notch feel good summer movie.

Justin Brinkley

Watch The End Credits Scene

Fabian

Did you guys notice Elizabeth’s dad is the High Sparrow from GoT?? This movie franchise has the one of the best sequels ever. Peak Jack Sparrow.

Mads

You have to watch the end credits you missed something

Cecilia

Fun facts: The films are based on Walt Disney's ride of the same name. The role of Captain Jack Sparrow was originally written for Hugh Jackman but he was not that well known outside of Australia at the time so Disney cast Johnny Depp instead, who was fairly well known. Johnny Depp based the character of Captain Jack Sparrow on Keith Richards from The Rolling Stones (who appears in the third film). Depp also improvised Jack's catch phrase "Savvy?" and one of the film's last lines "Bring me that horizon" was conceived by Depp the morning the scene was filmed. Jack's “drunk walk” is actually the result of his "sea legs". When he's on land his walk is unbalanced, while at sea he walks straight. That is because he spends more time at sea than on land. There is an after credits scene in at least film 1-3. Some people look at it as a triology because 4 and 5 are not as good as 1-3 and Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are not in them, but I always tell people to watch them and decide for themselves. It may be an unpopular opinion but I personally enjoy both. Other Johnny Depp films I recommend are A Nightmare on Elm Street, Cry-Baby, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Sleepy Hollow, Chocolat, Finding Neverland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd and Alice in Wonderland. And speaking of Edward Scissorhands, it reminds me of she-who-must-not-be-named's comment in an interview after the trial that "he made everyone believe he had scissors for fingers" 🤣

Heida

Glad to see you enjoyed this one, I can't wait for Dead Mans Chest, my favourite one

Josh Ashford

I think you should watch 4 and 5

Cecilia

I think watching Pirates 4 and 5 straight after is the smart move all around. You have the momentum with the viewership (I think releasing them right after the trilogy will give you more views vs "getting to them at some point in the future" where the pirates fanbase probably have moved on. Ive seen many reactors kinda do the first 3 and then take their sweet time with 4 and 5 and it just loses momentum and therefore viewership as well), and you're also well into the world and lore. Theyre definitely hit and miss, and in potc5 you can tell Depp was not in a good place (kinda the height of the abuse from Amber as well as his mother dying etc). But they still have great moments and stuff that I think you guys will love. Definitely hoping for this case!

Captainivy1

You know you are a fan of a reaction channel when you watch both the uncut and edited reaction videos. You two are the such a pleasure to watch along with. These films are also so much fun.

Farbod

So glad you guys are doing these movies! I personally am not a fan of the 4th and 5th movies but like you said in the intro, you guys liked the 4th and 5th transformers movies. If you liked those, I don’t think you guys will have a problem with the last 2 pirates movies.
