Jesus washed the feet of Judas shortly before he died, at this point Jesus knew that Judas had betrayed him, and was going to be responsible for his death. I believe that at this point, L suspects that he is about to die, that's why he seems so depressed in this episode, and he knows Light is his killer, but he has no way to prove it, so he washed his feet like Jesus cleaned Judas'
