Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

We hope you enjoy the video!

This movie was celebrated for its VFX when it came out - I think it still holds up well!

BluePanda

You noticed Maximus' son looks younger than 8. Not sure if that was their intention, but you are about to piece something together.

forestmarmot

you guys should definitely react to Spartacus the series it's brilliant

Bob Kaka

Hell yeah, so happy you guys liked this one. Marcus Aurelius is one of my favorite people from history, a very complicated and self-reflective character. I highly recommend his book Meditations, which is a small collection of his personal writings on philosophy and self improvement. This movie is the one that put Djimon Hounsou on my radar. Until I finally learned his name he was always just "That dude from Gladiator." I love his friendship with Maximus and his advice. I lost a close friend when I was very young, and that sentiment of "I will see you again, but not yet" has always stuck with me. Another great classic warrior movie in the books! I definitely recommend watching how they filmed that opening battle. A ton of practical effects involved, super cool.

If you ever get the opportunity you should definitely visit Rome & see the Coliseum in person. It's incredible to stand where the ancient gladiators fought while the Caesars watched.

Robin Lee Melendez

Kill Bill YES!

Nate Terry

Some movies that are similar to what you like; Braveheart, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven and Apocalypto.

Danny

If you two choose to stick with a "warrior" theme. I'd suggest Braveheart and Kill Bill Vol 1+2. Don't know if you seen either of those movies. But I think you'd especially enjoy Kill Bill, it's right up your alley.

Duder03

ive seen bits and pieces! havent watched it properly but looked cool

CpaSpartan Pudgey

Spartan please tell me you’ve seen the show Spartacus? It was on Starz and the first season one of my favorite tv series. It’s got more of a 300 type feel.

hautdog

Never seen Quintus get so much hate before, goddam! 😂 Not saying he doesn’t deserve it tho’

Petteri Ahlberg

His Pudgey hands 😂 Keep up the great content!

Oslo

Blood Diamond please

William Abbott

Fun fact, the emperor is played by the same actor as the original Dumbledore.

Kelschman

Wait I'm so excited for this. This movie touched me so deeply. I felt connected to Maxiumus and there's something ethereal about it that I can't put into words. There's a sense of honor and dignity and sacrifice in those times that seems lost in this day and age. When I went to Rome in person and visited in person in 2015, it was like I was actually there, touching the ruins... anyway I can't. So excited for yall to see this!

thank u next

Great reaction! Gladiator is one of my favorite historical action movies, up there with Last Samurai, Braveheart, Troy, King Arthur and The Patriot. (Kingdom of Heaven and Last of the Mohicans would be up there too...though less actiony I think) Can't wait to see what you do next!

TwistedMagoo

If warrior movies are on the table then Zulu needs to be on the list.

Bran the Blazed

It's a little slower, but if you want more young, badass Russel Crowe, Master and Commander is one of the best war movies ever made

David McDonald

Try out Shaolin (2011) it's a really good story.

Nemesis

ah that's good to know. we will need to look that up

CpaSpartan Pudgey

Nope Theatrical version

Was anxiously awaiting your reaction to this movie and you didn't disappoint! I correctly predicted at the start that Spartan would still favour 300 but I kinda figured Pudgey might give the edge to Gladiator. I think I prefer the realism and rawness of Gladiator over the fantastical style of 300 but they're both great in their own right. I too enjoyed Last Samurai but for me, it doesn't have the re-watchability that Gladiator does. I've probably watched Gladiator every year since its release. One of the all-time best IMO. Great hero, great villain, great music and plenty of scenes that get you in the feels. I still tear up when Maximus finds his dead wife & son and still rage when Commudus taunts him about his family in the Colosseum.

You guys are picking some banging movies! Love it <3

Dan Tydeman

If you havent seen it. Braveheart is a really good movie!

Lennie from Denmark

Is this the extended version?

midothegreat

Can‘t wait to get home from work today and watch my favourite movie with you guys! Greetings from Germany

AkiZzu

One of the best movies ever made! I really enjoyed this reaction! :-)

TT

Loved the reaction.! Thanks for watching this classic. Just a thought if you ever want to rewatch it, the remastered version with the uncut scenes is really good. It provides a lot of information that I think was missing from the theatrical cut.

Farbod

The choreography of this movie is great. One of the best still to this day they just don't do it like this anymore. The opening scene also with the big set piece battle is still amazing visually to this day. My ranking would be Gladiator, Last Samurai, Troy then 300. I like the more drama/emotional films and fighting choreography that's why those are my top 2. To be clear I love all of them.

Alex

First agree with everyone please watch Troy. Second In the extended edition Commodus has Quentis do some terrible things which better explains why turned on him at the end.

Darrell Henry

wish they watched the extended edition

Alex

second this. also have to suggest braveheart and the patriot in case they haven't seen them. early 2000s/late 90s war movies hit different

Jared

While we are on the subject of warriors I hope you guys check out Troy (2004) it stars Brad Pitt, Eric Bana and Orlando bloom I feel like you will both enjoy this movie with the warrior genre (if that's what you want to call it) :D really going to enjoy this reaction :) <3
