I agree, this was one hell of an episode! To clarify: the cartel is massive. This is only one branch of it in a certain geographic area. Each branch has a big boss with lieutenants under him, smaller territory bosses, hitmen, thugs, etc. Like all crime syndicates: it’s a hierarchy with many “soldiers”. We’re only seeing a few of them. The big boss here (who Gus killed) was called Don Eladio. ‘Don’ is a term of respect for the big boss; you put ‘Don’ in front of the first name… more formal than ‘Senor’ (Mr. in Spanish). Hector Salamanca (in the wheelchair) used to be one of Don Eladio’s lieutenants (as you saw in the flashback before). p.s.: Hector’s name isn’t Tio: that just means uncle in Spanish… unless he’s *your* uncle, I wouldn’t call him that! Also, he’s paralyzed & unable to speak due to a massive stroke. Nobody recovers from that (generally), so he’s never speaking or walking again. He doesn’t have dementia or Alzheimer’s; his mind is still fine, which is why Gus likes to go taunt him regularly. Sweet revenge.

People who think you are being too harsh on Walt are idiots who haven't been paying the fuck attention.

The Fly episode is one of the deepest and most complex episodes in TV history.

WRONG EPISODE Thank goodness they probably watched it 🤦‍♂️

Julien

Sorry, what do you mean? I think Gus was being overly cautious because of the uniquely strange situation & the car being left alone.

Paul

Not sure what you are talking about here.

One of the best episodes of the series in terms of story, acting and entertainment. It has a little of everything. Makes you wonder about the fly episode and what they were thinking on that one.

Paul

The guy who Gus was with was not his brother, it was his boyfriend

Sean Carroll

insane episode... Gus is a just a menace... When you met him you knew his actor from other roles, but Breaking Bad is his origin (in these kind of roles in modern series), and I hope when you see him in other parts now you think of Gus... great reaction ^^
