Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 | UNCUT Reaction

Comments

I hope you do read the books, despite the obvious spoilers you are getting from the comments!

FatLittleButterfly

It's probably baffling to them because they personally wouldn't do anything like that, and it's unfamiliar to their character as people.

Mia Fisher

How familiar are you with any part of human history? Your confusion about how/why they would just hate on others for being born different is somewhat baffling.

TyphlosionGang

These comments are full of spoilers. There is an upcoming HBO series that will be much more in depth. People writing essays about what was left out are spoiling the show for people that never read the books.

Shawn Brink

Great reaction! I love your guys' tendency to not believe any deaths that haven't happened on screen (and ones that do happen on screen as well). As for the blood purity issue, Voldemort being a half-blood is not well known. They value pure blood above all else, but they are not automatically against all half-bloods. For instance, Snape is known to be a half-blood. But a half-blood who supports them is better than the "blood traitors" like the Weasleys who are pureblooded. Even if Voldemort's lineage was well-known, he rules from the shadows, and is not officially involved with the Ministry. The propoganda they implement after they take over the Ministry is basically that all Muggleborns are not "true" witches or wizards, but they are Muggles who "stole" the magic and wand of a "real witch/wizard". This is not true, obviously, but they use it as a pretense to strip Muggleborns of their wands and imprison/kill them. They also made attendance at Hogwarts compulsory, so that they could force Muggleborn students out of school and have hostages of wizarding families that may oppose them under their control. Many of the Muggleborns have either been captured/killed, fled Britain, or are in hiding. The book also goes into cases where witches/wizards essentially fabricate a magical relative and pass off Muggleborns as half-bloods or full bloods. This is why we see Snatchers at the end with a list of known Muggleborns in hiding, and why Harry and Hermione both come up with fake names that wouldn't be on the list. For the purposes of clarity, Voldemort split his soul into seven pieces, but only made the six horcruxes, with the seven piece of his soul being in his body. After the diary and ring that were destroyed before this movie, along with the locket destroyed here, there are now 3 horcruxes left to be destroyed.

Josh Lopater

FUNFACTS: 1.Lunas father is portrayed by the same actor as Otto Hightower from HotD. 2. The actor for the Minister who died is Bill Nighy, who is best known for his role as Davy Jones in the Pirates of the Carribbean Franchise.

Achillis

Especially the last two films missed so much out. But at the same time, they were criticised at the time for the bloated runtime, so I guess they couldn't win.

AdrianF

Always pissed me off about how the movies skipped over the Dursley's departure. It was handled much more sensitively in the books, and even if you don't read them all, you should read the intro to DH to see the differences. Put's the Dursley family in a much better light having had years of living with the Boy Who Lived.

AdrianF

They haven’t gotten that far yet. It’s only part 1

K

i dont know if its because ive read the books but the movies really seem confusing considering i know all the story going on between scenes.

Jhazzrun

Without spoilers. There is 7 pieces of Voldemorts soul. So its 6 horrocruxes and the 7th piece is in his body. They only need to find 6 horrocruxes and after that just kill Voldemort himself.

Esther Montes

it is Moody's eye!

CountFurfur

Pudgey is one of two reactors I’ve seen to realize it’s Moodys eye in the door. Another thing they don’t explain well in the movies is 1 body + 6 objects. = 7 pieces so he only made 6 himself being the 7. I may be wrong but there was no helping Dobby I think the blade was cursed and curses are tricky George’s ear was cursed off and cannot be repaired. Magic has rules and laws that they explain in the book. I get why they wouldn’t put it in the movie. I hope the series they come out with does the books actual justice. Love your reactions btw

Terry Worley

I agree with this cause there’s no book versus movie analysis they could have been given to watch before the next movie and so forth. Would have helped to establish more and story bits that were cut to make time for the movies to be done without overdoing it and causing the movies to be each 3+ hours long. It would have also made it easier to see the distinction ms of how the characters are in the respective mediums for each year of Harry’s life after 11 y/o.

ReverieRealms22

In the book in the first chapter when harry is cleaning out his trunk and cuts his hand twice on the two way mirror (if he had JUST OPENED THE GIFT, he could have checked if Sirius had been home and Sirius would be alive rn) he was like “imma ask Hermione why the school is so crappy at teaching me basic life skills like first aid, she’ll patch me up.”

ReverieRealms22

I REALLLLY hope they make a podcasting-in-the car moment with the books cause unless they listen to them maybe on hpaudio.club for free without having to give Joe any money for the books - then I’m afraid they’ll never get the full story of every year at Hogwarts and the one out of

ReverieRealms22

ReverieRealms22

After you’re done with the movies, since you’re not going to read the books, you should check out A Very Potter Musical if you want some ridiculous fun. Editing: Nevermind. I forgot Spartan didn’t like Ember Island Players, and it’s the Harry Potter version of that only with real careers resulting from it.

K

btw Ron even said to harry that the Doe (the light) that guided Harry to the Sword was not him i.e the deluminator - the light that guided Ron to Harry and Hermione went inside Ron. Ron waited saw the doe and he even said, he thought it was Harry bcs it's similar to the stag. We don't know what the doe was or/and where it came from. Critical point.

Ammaar Ahmed

Spartan you're wrong about Moody's eye (apologise on camera to pudgey :D) and also on Umbridge. She's just a nasty piece of work and is a massive snake. As the Ministry became a dark version of itself, "puryfying" the wizarding world ranks - of course the evil power hungry toad would be there at the forefront. Btw at the ministry, they weren't harrassing only mixed blood to muggle-born ministry wizards and firing them - they were bringing in everyone who was "tainted" starting with the Ministry, with people getting tortured, killed and sent to azkaban, like it was so much worse.

Ammaar Ahmed

“Why Is Everyone Neverous Or Scared?” LoL 😂 Maybe Because Voldy Is Trying To Steal Their One And Only Wand 😂 No One Wants To Part Ways With Their Wand, Now Lucious Doesn’t Have One 😂 It’s Like The Teacher Picking A Student, Everyone Tried To Put Their Head Down And Avoid Eye Contact 😂

Fabian

Spartan i'm suprised you were confused about why wizards wouldn't give their wands away and why Lucius were like that. They establish that a connection bt a wand and a wizard is important, the wand chooses the wizard - hence its like a piece of you - which is why giving it away for someone else to use is such a no no. Also he's a wizard, like without a wand you are kinda helpless and unable to do magic. For purebloods, that's super humiliating - you're essentially becoming like the muggles you hate. Secondly, like Lucius had always been a "sneaky snake" wavering supporter - went along with it when Voldemort when he was alive, and then the second he was gone, he pretended he was impiriused and lived nice life in a world he had tried to destroy . Voldemort accused him of being a lil snake bcs he didn't even try to look for him after Voldemort's downfall, unlike other death eaters. Voldemort trusted him with the diary and Lucius, who at this point thinks Voldemort is gone, is trying to get rid of anything linking him with voldermort hence slipping it away to Ginny, which led to a horcrux being destroyed. Imagine Voldermort trusted one of his death eaters with a part of his soul (although lucius didn't know) and he gets it destroyed. Lucius then fucks up getting the prophecy which is his main crime, bcs of him it is destroyed and he's captured. He never gets to hear it. That's when the malfoy family falls from grace - to punish Lucius failure and error, he tasks Draco to kill dumbledore, expecting Draco to fail and therefore draco would either die trying to kill dumbledore or Voldermort would kill Draco for failing . You saw what the job did to Draco. Voldermort didn't expect draco to succeed, he always intended Snape to do it, as a contingency. The whole thing was to torture the malfoys. Therefore the Malfoys, who when voldermort wasn't alive were living the high life, looking down at everyone when voldermort wasn't around, probably got used to that life. Since he's returned, shits got serious, they've srsly failed and are now disgraced amongst the death eaters. What'smore it is their house that is being used as a DE base and that adds to the humiliation.

Ammaar Ahmed

The worst thing about this movie, is in the book it is actually half about finding horcruxes, but the other half is a dumbledore origin story that's super deep and kinda dark and really fleshes Dumbledore as a character and his not so pleasant past or rather a time where he was morally ambiguous. the movie leaves this lore out besides a few hints at it - you guys would have loved it, just as you would have loved learning about Voldermort and his family (which the half blood prince book explores and we see so much more in the books than the two scenes in the movies). Again mods please find HP lore videos and convince these guys to watch it!!

Ammaar Ahmed

not a lot gets done but remember this was half the last books - it's not its own full story. And even then soooooooo much gets left out

Ammaar Ahmed

well he's tried to protect him more than once so even though he treats him poorly we suspect there's more to it

CpaSpartan Pudgey

This is my second favorite movie of the series, behind Prisoner of Azkaban

Nathan Hill

i feel like you guys have completely imagined this nice side of Snape - bro is truly a massive bully, he loathes harry and has treated him like shit all the time. You guys ltlrly make fanfiction up about snape lol

Ammaar Ahmed

To clarify. Sirius is dead. I don’t know what comment section you two read, but Sirius is dead. Just like the troll, the basilisk, Aragog, professor quirrel, Cedric, Harry’s parents, the bloody baron, nearly headless nick I could go on. Sirius is dead. The fact that he fell through the VEIL, is what doomed Sirius from a comeback. Read the books. It makes more sense when there’s not put a random death spell in movie scene, as for a stunning spell in the books.

D D

To clarify, without spoiling anything. Voldemort meant to split his soul into 7 pieces. So that means 6 Horcruxes and the 7th piece of his soul is still in Voldemort himself. After destroying the locket, there are in fact 3 more horcruxes out there for them to find and destroy. Hopefully this clears up why Ron says "3 to go".

Donny

SHOUTOUT OTTO HIGHTOWER

micah

Props to Emma on that performance, even the small amount of her screams they put into the movie are very disturbing.

Riolkin

That is really interesting, as a first time HP watcher, I would have like this better explained in the movies. Guess it's a good excuse to read the books.

SoFreshSoGreen

Not sure if this has been said already or not but when filming the torture scene with Hermione and Bellatrix, the original scene wasn't included because apparently it sounded so real and distressing they had to stop filming to make sure Emma was okay. This movie is certainly the darkest so far out of them all, I can't wait to see the final reaction!

Leksa

10/10. When this movie came out, many complained that not enough Was happening and that it was boring... could not disagree more. Also: Lunas Father was Otto Hightower/ The Lizard.

DrückebergerTV

Agree

Rey Jr

Fun Fact, Xenophilius Lovegood is Lucius Malfoy's brother. He fell in love with Pandora Lovegood, who was a blood traitor for pureblood families. But he got her last name instead of Malfoys :)

Alex

I could watch Spartan getting frustrated with Umbridge for hours 😂 Some nice to knows/clarify: - The (Voldemorts) ministry doesn't go after half-bloods, only mudbloods/muggleborns. The captured people in the ministry stated they were half-bloods which was probably a lie in order to save themselves. The guards just did not believe them. - Lucius was scared because he messed up in the 5th movie where he was in charge of capturing the prophecy and Harry himself; so badly Voldemort himself had to enter the ministry which resulted in him exposing himself. - The eye on Umbridges door was indeed Moody's eye, this was clarified in the books Keep on the good work guys, you two have a great eye for detail! - The snake Nagini was using the old lady Bathilda's decaying corpse as a disguise (hence all the flies flying around in the house).

Tom the Dutchie

I always thought the actors who played Harry, Ron and Hermione when they drank the polyjuice potion did a really good job in this movie. They made us not even question that they were in fact the characters they were portraying.

AlrightThere

To clarify, you're seeing Malfoy Manor, not Hogwarts, in this movie. It might not be obvious but the sword is normally in the Headmaster's office but it can present itself to any Gryffindor at a moment of need like it did for Harry in the Chamber of Secrets so it could in theory have been in Bellatrix's vault and still present itself by the lake. In theory. It must be retrieved through an act of bravery/courage thus how Ron could get it by diving in to save Harry. Remember that Harry, Hermione, and Ron are still underage (17) wizards fighting many times against older, seasoned wizards who actually finished their education and thus the trio don't always have the knowledge of spells/magic/the world that would allow them to always fight back, heal wounds, etc. And yes, Harry's cloak is THE cloak of invisibility. I don't think it's a spoiler to clarify that for you. That's what that knowing look between the trio when the cloak was mentioned by Lovegood and I think we as the audience are meant to understand that from that point on. It's also basically reaffirmed when Harry's telling Hermione the hallows are real. Can't wait for the conclusion! It's crazy when you remember that for those of us watching the series in real time had to wait a year for the movies to conclude, even if we already knew from reading the books.

Danielle

Actually the is sort of an explanation for the trio being caught by the snatchers in the film I believe. I'm pretty sure they apparated back in the forest when Ron had first left them and where Hermione had left her scarf tied around the tree. I believe that snatcher that had smelled her perfume was wearing it around his neck when they get captured.

Golladan

Grindelwald is literally wizard hitler

Rainbow

Cant wait to see this reaction, i hope you guys will watch the anniversary reunion before moving onto a new series, it would be a nice way to tie up this series

calum1

Disagree I think there’s tons of great material that was put forth and they began to answer massively large looming questions about Dumbledore and his past in all 3. Especially regarding Nagini, and Dumbledores sister and relationship with Gridnewald. Problem was Johnny Depp needing to be recast because of his issues, compounded by Ezra Millers debacles, and the general public’s homophobia in regards to a same sex relationship with Dumbledore those movies were doomed.

Scuba Steve

Sad they never go into dumbledore's past... then the prequels should have done it justice and instead ruined it... and was so bad they never continued.

Rainbow

love how the duke from bridgerton is an extra at the wedding

Rainbow

To clarify: Voldermort split his soul in seven pieces, with one remaining piece INSIDE OF HIM. There are only six Horcruxes they needed to find and destroy and then Voldemort would become mortal and therefore he could be killed. The diary, the ring and the locket are destroyed but there's still 3 other things and Voldemort's body left. Lucius is terrified of Voldemort because he failed him with the diary, the prophecy and then Draco failed to kill Dumbledore (which was to punish Lucius). Bellatrix didn't kill Neville's parents, she did a lot worse: Tortured them into insanity. The place Snape was meeting with Voldemort and the Death Eaters was not Hogwarts but Malfoy's house. Voldemort/Nagini (the snake) had killed Bathilda Bagshot before Harry and Hermione got there and the snake was impersonating her. She spoke parsletounge because she was the snake in disguise. Bill Weasley is played by Domhnall Gleeson, son of Brendan Gleeson who plays Mad-Eye Moody. The book mentions that after being attacked by Fenrir Greyback, Bill is so scarred that he now resembles Moody. Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2 were filmed back to back. Actually, the final scene of the franchise that was filmed was the scene where Harry, Ron and Hermione escape from the Ministry of Magic while being pursued by Yaxley. The shoot was followed by a celebratory BBQ, with music from a Mariachi band and ice cream supplied by Rupert Grint from the ice cream truck he purchased with his earnings from the films. Having Bellatrix carve "mudblood" into Hermione's arm during the torture scene was not in the original script. Emma Watson and Helena Bonham Carter came up with the idea together on the spur of the moment during filming. There's a deleted scene of Harry's goodbye with the Dursleys, who are leaving because it isn't safe for them anymore, which EVERYONE agrees should have been kept in the film. Petunia says to Harry "You didn't just lose a mother that night in Godric's Hollow. I lost a sister" (in the book she doesn't say this at all but instead a simple goodbye, though it looks like she has something else to say to him). In that one single moment we see more humanity than in all the other books/films, and we realise that, in spite of everything, Petunia loved Lily. While it doesn't excuse how she treated Harry it does show that a part of her loved her sister and therefore she loved Harry too. Then there's Vernon who doesn't say much but farewell, but when Harry says "I'm just a waste of space, isn't that right Vernon?" he doesn't answer and just looks at him. Lastly, Dudley hesitates getting in the car and then walks over to Harry while literally staring down his father (quite awkwardly but maybe that was intentional), reaches out to shake Harry's hand and says to him "I don't think you're a waste of space" (in the book he also thanks Harry for saving his life in OotP and says "See you, Harry"). See here: https://youtu.be/jzkDRz8quKo?si=XTkrSPP6vuXPYO7a. Now, the way dementors work is they force their victims to suffer their worst memories and fears. Dudley saw his worst fear which was seeing who he truly was: a spoiled brat and a bully. After Harry saved him he realised he needed to change his ways. There is also a scene where Harry steps on a cup of tea that was left outside his door. He assumes it was a prank but it's implied Dudley left it there out of concern. In the epilogue it's said that Dudley married and had 2 kids, and he and Harry stayed on "Christmas card" terms for the rest of their lives. J.K. Rowling even said that one of the original plans was to have Dudley on Platform 9 3/4 with a child of his own but she decided that no magic blood would survive contact with Vernon's DNA. In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Petunia is revealed to have kept the blanket Harry was wrapped in when he first arrived at the Dursley's, and after her death Dudley sends it back to him. The Harry and Hermione dancing scene was not in the book. Everyone has their own interpretation but to me it's just two friends letting themselves forget for a few minutes. It says so much even without any dialogue and it's awkward because it feels so real. When Harry takes the locket off Hermione's neck and sets it aside, they are literally setting their burdens aside for one moment. This scene is the embodiment of Dumbledore's quote from Prisoner of Azkaban - "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light". Some people say film Ron and Hermione aren't as good as book Ron and Hermione but I disagree. Emma and Rupert had plenty of chemistry but Emma also had crazy chemistry with Dan. While he and Bonnie had none whatsoever. Hell, Harry had more chemistry with Luna than Ginny. But I personally love that Harry and Hermione's relationship was simply platonic throughout the whole series. There is something so pure about it. The film doesn't make it clear that Voldemort actually puts a jinx on his own name in order to trace any wizard who uses it, because he knows that the trio, Dumbledore's Army and the Order are the only wizards who would dare speak his name out loud. In the book the trio is caught twice but in the film they are caught once by the Death Eaters and snatchers, who just happen to find their hiding place with no explanation. In the book, Hedwig is not the one who gives Harry away (in fact she is killed before the real Harry is recognised). Harry sees Stan Shunpike (from the Knight Bus in Prisoner of Azkaban) and realises he is only acting under the Imperius Curse, as in he has no control of what he's doing. Harry, not wanting to hurt him, tries to disarm him instead, which is what gives him away (because Voldemort and the Death Eaters consider that Harry's "trademark" spell). The reason the sword is in the pond is because, as Dumbledore said in The Chamber of Secrets: It takes a true act of bravery, a true Gryffindor to make it appear. The relationship between Tonks and Lupin is further explored in the book. They reveal that they are married and later that Tonks is pregnant. When Lupin appears to have an existential crisis and plans to abandon his wife and unborn child, Harry stops him. Later, when their son Teddy is born, Lupin is thrilled and asks Harry to be his godfather. Peter Pettigrew dies in the book after being compelled to strangle himself with the silver hand gifted to him by Voldemort.

Heida

Great job guys. I love these movies. But mods really did ya'll dirty for not having you react to any lore videos between some movies. Or at least some recaps to help remember stuff.

TallTyrionLannister

I think I saw on Discord that they already watched part 2 also, so this is a possibility! Would be an awesome treat.

TallTyrionLannister

just a suggestion but maybe after HP you could watch the Godfather trilogy in order to watch some older films. The films are widely regarded as some of the best ever with a lot thinking the first one is the best film ever. The cast is legendary in 1 and 2 with the likes of Marlon Brando (possibly the highest regarded actor ever), Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Robert Duvall, James Cann, Diane Keaton, Talia Shite and John Cazale. The greatest cast in history. The film is also possibly the best acted film ever. The script, dialogue, character arcs, cinematography, score etc are all pretty much perfection. Would widen your channel to a wider audience too. Seen as you have watched a top 3 trilogy in LOTR it would be cool to watch another. Also in a way fits in with the theme of breaking bad. One of the most iconic films ever.

Owen Hargrave

I reeeeally wish they hadnt deleted the dudley harry petunia scenes where they say goodbye

Rainbow

"Your Grace!?"

Rainbow

Where's Detective Pudgey!? ;) No one recognized the actor portraying Luna's father as the same man who plays Otto Hightower (Hand of the King) in House of the Dragon?

Lolilie

Lucius fell out of favor with Voldemort at the end of the 5th one. He was in charge of getting the prophecy and he failed.

Joel Zaborowski

I have a feeling we’ll be on the same page when the time comes to talk about it

Katie Thomas

“No spell can reawaken the dead, Harry. I trust you know that.” - Dumbledore, himself

Katie Thomas

I’m super excited for the completion of this. I’m gonna hold my tongue til part 2 is finished but I will say this. I have an absolute love/hate relationship with these last two movies. I think as people who haven’t read the books you’re gonna absolutely love the ending as most do, but as a book reader who literally spent 100’s if not thousands of hours on trying to figure out all the horcruxes etc… these last two movies arguably RUINED the ending of this series worse than ANY franchise I’ve ever watched. All of the themes and plot points so carefully placed by the author were tossed out the damn window. I don’t know if I’ve ever been more devastated or upset at an ending in my life. And the worst part is there is soooo much amazing things these last two movies adapted into the film, but they crash landed/burned the plane and killed all the survivors when it comes down to protecting, preserving, and portraying this amazing books series ending as it was intended. The book ending was easily a 10/10. The movies however fall massively short with a 5/10 from me. And people aren’t gonna like what I have to say but I think this is one of the few places and time where I can get some honest conversation about it.

Scuba Steve

Random surprise drop of the last movie halfway through the week? ;)

Stephanie Hundley

These movies and books are so special to Me, and so many people, I can’t wait for you to finish. Pudgey, bring the tissues, I’m nervous for you. I got to play the music in Marching Band in 9th grade too, and just became so into the world and books. Loved this world and all of these actors since!! Danielle Radcliffe is by far my favorite, you should check out his portrayal of Weird Al, in the movie he made, it’s HILARIOUS! Anyways, I can’t believe I have to wait until next week to see the finale, but I’m DO EXCITED!!

Stephanie Hundley

The score in the 6th film is honestly one of the best scores I’ve ever heard in film.

JonSnow21

I'm so impressed with Spartan and Pudgey. Considering it's their first run through of the movies, they pick up on so many details, moreso than what I did when I first saw the movies, they question a lot of things too! Its hard to understand everything also, especially if you havent read the books. So excited to see your reactions to Deathly Hallows Part 2, let's go baby!!

Kristy Ranic

There’s a deleted scene of Harry’s cousin, aunt and uncle that would’ve made a huge difference. It’s shown as if they’re leaving Harry behind when Harry is the one who is sending them off

Cjay_92

Mods could you find and suggest good lore video on HP like in GOT so they can get clued up on things the movies left out or didn't actively explain.

Ammaar Ahmed

imagine how much more impactful dobby's death is when you find out he was always popping up helping Harry in the other books. He gave Harry the Gillyweed in Goblet of Fire (moody made sure he overheard), he found the room of requirement for Harry and DA to practice in and I think he warned Harry Umbridge was coming. He also (with Kreacher) followed Draco Malfoy in Half Blood Prince as Harry didn't know where Malfoy was disappearing too.

Ammaar Ahmed

Now that you are familiar with The Deathly Hallows, I wanted to share a change from the books. In The Order of the Pheonix when Dumbledore has a fight against Voldemort... In the books, it was incredibly one sided with Dumbledore having the upper hand. In the movie, they changed it so that it seemed Voldemort was more on Dumbledore's level. It wasnt revealed why Dumbledore was so mush stronger until book 7...

Blake Richey

At which part did he cry? I can't watch the entire reaction, but wanna see that. Lol

Marcell

loved the reaction this has been a journey !!! one more to go aaaah

Ebony

Did we see Spartan cry for the first time?😯

Dinuka Herath

L take, the films are superior? Love the movies but it’s not even close, makes me sure you’ve never read them

Mzuka

We are told that Voldemort split his soul in 7, to be clear, and made 6 Horcruxes (the seventh piece of his soul is located in his body). Dumbledore destroyed the ring, and Harry destroyed the diary in CoS. So there are 4 left at the start of this movie. Also, Dumbledore would not make a Horcrux - it’s extremely dark, evil magic that very few wizards have ever attempted. And I know magic can resurrect people but I feel like you’re transferring some Lord of the Rings baggage here 😂 The deaths of Sirius and Dumbledore are an inevitable part of Harry’s heroes journey. Within these Harry Potter movies, how many characters have you seen come back from death via magic? More importantly, the story introduces the Unforgivable Curses (Avada Kedavra specifically) to ensure we know that characters are dead. Only Harry has ever survived it, and they told us the conditions that made that possible - none of which apply to Dumbledore or Sirius.

Mzuka

Draco’s mother Narcissa is a mirror of Harry’s mother Lily. No matter what you think of the Malfoy’s, Narcissa loves her son. She went to Snape specifically to ask for his help in protecting Draco. Her name, Narcissa is the name of a flower, that like the Lily is associated with rebirth and resurrection. But it is also associated with the Greek myth of the vain youth who was turned into a flower. From what we know of Narcissa and Lily, it is far more likely that Narcissa would be associated with the trait of vanity. The Malfoy’s are in trouble with Voldemort for a number of reasons. Lucius had been entrusted with the Diary Horcrux by Voldemort. And by passing it on to Ginny Weasley, he is responsible for its destruction. Lucius was also unsuccessful in retrieving the prophecy for Voldemort. This was one of the primary reasons that Draco was tasked with killing Dumbledore. And because Snape did the deed, Draco failed in that assignment as well. Voldemort is using Malfoy Manor for a headquarters. But the Malfoy family has repeatedly disappointed him.

Blackeyedlily

God the people who keep mentioning the books , please shut up , it makes no sense to tell them how much they cut , all it will do is take away some of the hype , plus honestly the films are far superior to the books and alot of the stuff from the books would not make for a good film at all, sorry they cut the headless hunt stuff from the second book that literally no one would ever care about and that’s just one example.

JonSnow21

This comment makes no sense bc obviously they won’t read the books and they didn’t keep that in for a reason.

JonSnow21

My god please shut up about the books , they will never read it and it’s not even close to as good as the films

JonSnow21

Spartan's first tears, from Dumbledore's trust in Harry. Didn't expect it, but I'll take it :)

Paul

I know there are some people who don't like the fact that the score is so different in the last two movies, a complete departure from earlier movies and the motifs and themes they created, and I understand. It's a loss of continuity in a way. Nevertheless, I think the music perfectly fits to the tone of the movie. It's moving in a way that earlier themes just weren't.

John Neiberger

Ugh....Dobby. No matter how many times I see that scene, it kills me. :(

John Neiberger

So excited to see your guys's reaction to the next one. It's SO GOOD!!! What a journey.

Wow! I get to comment the day it came out, how fun! A lot of what I wanted to say appears above. FYI: the site where Dobby's burial was filmed has become a shrine of sorts. Thousands of people have piled up remembrances there. It's on the southeast coast of Cornwall. Search YouTube. Again, I'm mystified by some of your guesses, you're quite amazing (at times). 💛

All of the random explaining they have to do to make the last horcruxes make sense when they could have just filmed two extra pensive scenes in movie 6

Katie Thomas

Bellatrix didn't actually kill Nevilles parents. She tortured them into insanity with the Cruciates Curse. They're still alive but living in St Mungos hospital. Neville still visits them, but they're insane and don't even know him. You see it in the books.

Joel Zaborowski

Thanks for clearing up some of their confusion.

Jim Schmitz

I can’t emphasize enough just how much better the books are. The movies are a good watch and fun but they really leave out SO many things, including things y’all seem to want to know but isn’t being explained.

Katie Thomas

There is a 3 minute scene that was cut from the beginning of the movie where the Dursleys were leaving the house and I think it gives a lot of the closure to all the opening scenes of the abuse Harry dealt with growing up. I think it is worth the watch (no spoilers of course) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzkDRz8quKo&ab_channel=McGloomy There are many scenes cut from these already long movies and maybe when you finish up DH Pt 2 you both can do a reaction to the extended and cut scenes because some are really awesome.

Steven

It's not 7 horcruxes...it was 6 originally. The 7th part lives in Voldemorts body...plus 6 horcruxes...7-part soul. 1. Voldemorts body 2. Diary 3. Ring 4. Locket 5. ?? 6. ?? 7. ?? Three more to go.

Joel Zaborowski

My two cents since most everyone else has got the rest covered - Lucius is terrified because he fell out of grace with Voldemort when he didn’t retrieve the prophecy and it got destroyed on his watch. He blames Lucius for it all. It was absolutely Mad Eye’s eye in Umbridge’s door. Another thing not explained in the movie but talked about a fair bit in the book. They tried to go retrieve Mad Eye’s body but couldn’t find it because the death eaters got there first.

Katie Thomas

I always find that the Horcruxes aren't very well explained. Voldemort split his soul in 7 pieces. One part of his soul is in his own body, and then 6 in objects. At this point, we already know about Tom's Diary, the Gaunt's Ring and the Locket, which have been destroyed. Therefore, there are three Horcruxes left to find, just like Ron said (after he destroyed the Locket). Now what are the other objects? We'll find out in the last movie! :D

Miss_CJ

I second this. I also believe that when he gave his wand to Voldemort, he feared he would get cursed by him, or killed even. At least, this is how I see it. When Voldemort moved the wand in his hands, you can see Lucius twitch and try to make himself as little as possible.

Miss_CJ

No way they thought Lucious' mansion was Hogwarts 😂 thing looks like a shed in comparison to Hogwarts.

Leonidas Raftopoulos

Love seeing you guys mention LOTR/Hobbit references after going through your journey with that series as well 😆

Zephyr

One more movie to go and then the journey is over 😥. But I still can't wait to see part 2! 🔥🤩

Simon

Also in Godric's Hollow when Harry sees his house, there are all those secret messages left for Harry showing people's support for him. Shame that was also cut from the film.

Golladan

the children still going to hogwarts is basically to control the population and to say we have your children. absolutely sick

Great reaction!! Yeah that's not Hogwarts, it's Malfoy Manor. There were no scenes in this whole movie that take place at Hogwarts, with the exception of the very last scene at Dumbledore's grave, which is on the grounds of Hogwarts. Mad-Eye's sudden death highlights the reality of the unpredictability of war... people die suddenly, they don't always get to go out in a blaze of glory witnessed by everyone. It's not explained in this movie, but Harry and friends were tracked because they kept using Voldemort's name. There was a taboo on the word 'Voldemort', which means any time someone used that word, the death eaters could track the person who said it. They knew that only people who were serious about taking on Voldemort would ever say the name. Hermione says it just a minute before the death eaters show up in the coffee shop. They did not kill the snake, they escaped it. Nagini is the snake's name, and she is a crucial part of Voldemort's inner circle. She was impersonating Bathilda Basgshot, who was dead even before Harry got there. She spoke parsletounge because, well, she was a snake in disguise. Harry didn't notice because he doesn't realize when he's speaking it. Hermione wasn't in the room to notice and let him know. The piece of the Mirror is not the mirror from the first movie lol. They never explain it in the movies, but in book 5 Sirius gives Harry that piece of mirror so that they could communicate freely through the mirror (sirirus had the base mirror that the sliver came from). Sadly, Harry forgot all about it until after Sirius died :( now he looks to it for comfort, and he keeps seeing someone in it, oddly.. Wizards don't send Ravens, they send Owls haha. I think that bird flying away was just an artistic choice for the intro to the Deathly Hallows story. The death eaters showed up only when Xenophilius said 'Voldemort', because of the taboo! The knife that killed Dobby was cursed. Unfortunately, Harry, Ron, and Hermione don't have the magical knowledge to fix that kind of injury. That would be very advanced magic, and they never even finished their Hogwarts education, after all. One more to go! It's my favorite, and I think you'll love the stunning conclusion of Harry Potter!

Neville L

I think you guys were confused, that wasn't Hogwarts, it's the Malfoy's home. Also the patronus leading Harry to the lake was not connected to the light Ron used to find them. Voldemort's snake is called Nagini. It's interesting what you pick up and what you miss, but there's a lot so it's understandable.

Nicole Herd

oh yes totally agree! and its completed, so no waiting for the author to finish them unlike another series...lol

Ailene Evangelista

If there was ever a book series for the two of you to read it would be this one. The way that you love having background and information... The books diving so deep and give you all the history you could ever want that they just could not manage to fit into the movies. I promise they are well worth the read

kelly beauchane

Hedwig dying always gets me 😢 she was trying to protect him, his last bit of innocence and childhood. So sad. Also r.i.p Dobby. Apparently the actor actually cried while filming holding the puppet of Dobby because he felt he really was losing a true friend he had known since a child.

Ghostcat

How long are you guys waiting to watch part 2?! I could not wait very long if I were you! It’s sick how the ministry is creating that nasty propaganda against muggleborns to create fear and distrust of them. The parallels to real life are really creepy. That’s what makes Umbridge so terrible too. She represents real evil in the everyday person who’s capable of horrible things. Dobby’s death definitely rips. It’s like a child dying! 😭😭😭

Ailene Evangelista

I was thinking this! Iv only seen this pure disgust for those two lol

Alex Ocean

This book being split into 2 movies highlights how much book material was cut from the previous movies. All these little things and all these people from the previous parts suddenly coming back or being referenced. Plus all the previously unseen characters suddenly showing up (Bill, Mundungus, the Muggle Studies teacher, etc). Then there's the sudden appearance of that mirror shard.

Golladan

obviously you guys haven't read the books, so you wouldn't know this of course, but in the books, james & snape were mutually "bullies" to each other & snape called lily a mud blood (which lead to that scene of james lifting snpae up). in the movies it doesn't show it but snape was WAY crueler & mean. he was more obsessed with lily than in love with her

shoniswife_

Lucius Malfoy is constantly disappointing Voldemort. He slipped the journal to Ginny in chamber of secrets, but it was unsuccessful. Then he was sent to obtain the prophecy, but ended up getting sent to Azkaban instead. Voldemort tasked Draco with killing Dumbledore, but Draco couldn't follow through. Lucius is just scared of Voldemort at this point and understands that the Malfoy's are on extremely thin ice. Probably why he was so nervous when Voldemort asked for his wand and why he was hesitant to call Voldemort once they found Harry. I can't wait for your reaction part 2!!

Lexy Winchell

Fun fact, Xenophilius is played by the same actor (Rhys Ifans) as Otto Hightower in House of the Dragon.

Angel M

That was Moodys eye, Pudgey! And he laughed at you ahha aw

A.D

There is a touching goodbye scene in the books (and in the deleted scenes) between Dudley and Harry. I’m still annoyed that it was cut from the movie. The way his family just leaves without saying anything to him is very underwhelming.

imperial

Voldermort split his soul in seven. Six Horcruxes, plus the 7th piece inside Voldemort himself.

Golladan

Spartan you can only trip one person down a flight of stairs, do you trip Umbrige or Cersei that's what I wanna know

Sasha

Spartan it WAS actually Moody's eye, start listening to detective Pudgey she's right 98% of the time like she was on game of thrones

Sasha

Umbridge isn't a death eater or a follower of Voldemort. She is just very racist against "half-breeds". And so deluded that she genuinely believes she is doing the right thing.

Golladan

Just wanted to stop by and say that really was Mad-Eye Moody’s eye on Umbridge’s door. Pudgey was spot on! Okay, now back to the reaction…
