Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix | Reaction & Review

I like how you guys are arguing about what muggle means but yet still off a little bit. lol Muggle = Someone without magic. Muggle-born or Mud Blood = Someone born with magic with non-magic parents Squib = Someone with magic parents born without magic Filch (Walder Frey) is a squib. He was born to magic parents and went to Hogwarts but his magic never showed up. So he became the grounds keeper. Harrys mom was a muggle-born. Her parents did not have magic. That's why her sister hates Harry so much because she was jealous that her sister got magic and she didn't. Hermione was also muggle-born.

Andrew Nyberg

In the books the duel made it pretty clear Dumbledore is stronger than Voldy. The movies made it more of a draw

Ben M

Your post has spoilers from the 8th movie in the first sentence

Incog Spectator

glass is sand that's been melted down and chemically transformed. So Dumbledore just reversed the process and transformed the glass into sand.

AP

Glad to be back!!! Looking forward to you guys finishing this series!

Scuba Steve

btw when harry screams after sirius dies, apparently daniel radcliffe (actor for harry potter) made such a blood curdling and emotion scream during that scene it made some of the cast cry. And that they actually had to mute it because of how agonizing it sounded, and it being a childrens movie seemed too dark and emotional to keep in

Sebz

I love how much you both hate umbridge

Super Novice

loki season 2?

I’m sure Spartan is gonna cry at the last

I loved the length of the 5th book, not at all a slog for me, I couldn’t get enough.

Michael Weiner

I truly love S+P's willingness to take the piss out of themselves when they edit their reactions. Such an endearing quality...

M. Gideon Hoyle

I need the next avatar korra episode 🔥

cameron

Idk if you guys have ever seen star wars, but if not that would be cool to see

Matt Garcia

IIRC his fight against Voldemort in the books is pretty one sided in Dumbledore's favor.

Golladan

yes but no, in the heat of battle sirius was imagining being alongside james and yelled that out despite knowing its harry

Sean Carroll

About Umbridge and you thinking she had a link to voldemort, it's like what sirius said, the world isn't split into good people and death eaters. She's a horrible and disgusting person but she isn't a voldemort follower

Josh Ashford

I was waiting for this reaction for two reasons. 1. I wanted to see Pudgey's reaction to Umbridge throughout the movie. We guys have people we hate or dislike but according to known science, the pure savage hatred and contempt a woman can feel towards another woman is unmatched. Needless to say, she did not disappoint. :) 2. Spartan's reaction to the fight at the end. I knew he would very much appreciate that showdown. This is the first time we see big boiz do battle and it does not disappoint, the FX department did a stellar job on that. Also, it's the first time we really see Dumbledore in action and realize that he is rightly called one of the greatest wizards ever. Great stuff as usual guys, shits getting serious and by now you realize why so many people love this series. It can get really dark and heavy at times but always keeps its spirit. They're really well done. Cant wait for the next.

neutchain

Fun fact, the actor who plays Lucius Malfoy (Draco's dad) is the voice actor for Admiral Zhao in book one of Avatar The Last Airbender.

K

The fight between Voldy and Dumbledore is probably my favorite scene in the series. It’s the first time you get to see how powerful they both are. Up until this point you really only see rudimentary spells from students, then these two come in and show us some real fuckin magic. I remember watching it for the first time in awe. Cant wait for you guys to react to the last 3 films.

Brady H

On Sirus' death; I really like the way it's done. I've heard that people wanted a better send off or that his death was too abrupt, but I think it's powerful for it's own reasons. The death feels viceral and real. There's no dramatic sting from the score, no cliche last words. We see the death exactly as Harry would. One moment he's with us, the next he's gone. Ripped away from us in a second, taking the wind out of our sails instantly. It hits me in a way that traditional movie deaths tend to miss.

NotMeMate

Harry’s paternal family, the Potters, are descended from a long line of pure-blood witches and wizards whereas his mother was muggle born, from two non-magical parents, making him the first half-blood Potter. I’m seriously enjoying these reactions so much guys, can’t wait for the rest!!! You guys are in for the best ride of your life lol!!

JoBean

Something from the book that wasn’t included in the movies that I think you’ll like, when they find the orb in the department of mysteries and the prophecy is being explained, it’s kind of a shortened version in the movie, it’s explained in the books that the prophecy could’ve referred to either Harry or Neville, but Voldemort basically had a choice ( hence the “marking him as his equal” line from the prophecy ) and he ultimately chose Harry. The 5th book is my least favorite of the later books, it’s kind of a slog and and unreasonably long. More stuff was cut out in the movies than in previous ones, which was a rare occurrence of cutting things and actually making it better imo.

Connor Hess

Dumbeldore is actually slightly more powerful than Voldemort. This is way more clear in the books. There's a reason people say Dumbeldore is the only wizard Voldemort ever feared.

Jason Trubey

Yayyy loving these reactions :)

Gummybear

Small but funny thing: some of your captions were wrong lol. Like when Dumbledore said “the Aurors are on their way”, your captions said “the Orders are on their way” and there were 1 or 2 more instances I noticed lol

bb

The Return to Hogwarts movie/special is a great finale to the series that takes place years later where the actors share behind the scenes and stories from making the movies. Kind of an emotional bit, but satisfying.

Keith Courtney

Sirius gets murdered by the spell but also falls through that special archway. It's fleshed out more in the book but in the movie they don't explain why he floats off like that.

Cat Dee

Lol I really feel you! I’ve watched the movies as a kid and just now read the books and they’re just so much better! So much more details. But i still think they couldn’t possibly fit the whole book into a movie the movie is already two hours long. Hope they can do it in the HBO series though

Chen Edri

Muggleborns can be witches and wizards as well. Pure bloods, half bloods and muggle are all full humans. Muggle just means non magical human. They’re not a different breed just poses powers muggles don’t. Hagrid is a half breed half human half giant. Hope that helps

Frankie Leyva

You both pick up on so much. Have to constantly remember that everything is so detailed and explained in the books, but not as easy to fit all into the movies. Love the reactions!

Keith Courtney

Exactly, Dumbledore calling Tom by his first name, kind of not being scared of him was right, but the fight after he also handily won, where here lots of people get the impression he wasn't as strong

Chompy

Lots of stuff got cut out of this but that’s what happens. Like Umbridge getting taken away by the centaurs

Ludus Aurea

Right before he dies when Sirius calls Harry by his fathers name in the middle of combat hits hard when you realize Bellatrix straight up kills him 4 seconds later.

Ludus Aurea

in the books Dumbledore pretty much mops the floor vs Voldemort. always hated the movies made it such a closer fight.

Cleaver

Also a testament to the pure rage Harry felt towards Bellatrix. Voldemort or no Voldemort, Harry just lost his last bit of family, he was understandably furious

KC

So Sirius called Harry “James” because that is second name, named after his father ofc

Joana

Pure blood

snowforia

Lily and Hermione are muggleborn, meaning they are born from muggles but they have magic.

Robert

In the book version sirius was hit with a stun spell and not the avad.. can’t spell it. So Sirius falling into the veil is actually the worst thing possible to happen. Once you fall into the veil you can’t come back. It’s sorta like a realm for spirits if I’m not remembering wrong. But Sirius is seriously dead😭 Not so fun fact. Daniel Radcliffe had lost a family member not so long before the movie/ that scene has to be shot where Sirius dies. As you said, you could really feel the pain in that scream because Daniel actually lost someone close to him.

D D

Harry has learned a lot that most of the other students miss due to young age and bad defense against the dark arts teachers. He’s not the best in other subjects, but he really builds up his fighting skills in books 3-5. The book does a better job than the movies of showing that every character brings their own experience to the table. Harry’s Defense skills, Ron’s knowledge of the magical world, Hermione’s logic and charms skills.

Heather VanDyke

If u rewatch the scene after sirius dies when harry chases the cousin, he actually uses an unforgivable curse on her but it doesnt fully work because the evil intentions werent 100% there. But the idea of harry even thinking about using the crucio spell is testament to voldemort and the damage he did to harry this movie

Klaus

OH YEAH

SleeplessCSGO

Imelda Staunton doesn't get enough credit for her portrayal of one of the most despicable characters on film. I get chills even when I see her in something else. Stephen King himself said that Umbridge was the greatest villain since Hannibal Lecter. Also, as a cat lover I am very offended. While this is the longest book, the film is the second shortest. Mrs. Figg, Harry's neighbour, is revealed to be a Squib, which is a non-magical person who is born with at least one magical parent (kind of the opposite of a Muggleborn). Filch is also a Squib. The revelation that Umbridge was the one who sent the dementors that attacked Harry and Dudley is cut from the film. Quidditch is entirely cut from the film. Kreacher the house-elf has a bigger part in the book. Dobby helps Harry discover the Room of Requirement, not Neville (it is also Dobby who gives Harry the Gillyweed in Goblet of Fire instead of Neville). Harry, Ron, and Hermione meet Neville's parents, who were tortured into insanity by Bellatrix, at St. Mungo's Hospital. They also see Gilderoy Lockhart who's memory is still severely damaged. The memory that Harry sees of his dad bullying Snape is longer and more detailed in the book. It's actually about Lily ending her friendship with Snape after he called her a Mudblood. So while James was still an asshole he was actually defending Lily. It's revealed that Professor Trelawney's prophecy about "The Chosen One" could have been about Neville. And Dumbledore explains the real reason Harry has to stay with the Dursleys: When Lily offered her own life to Voldemort in exchange for Harry’s she invoked an ancient and powerful spell in which her blood serves as protection for Harry against Voldemort. As her sister, Petunia, is her closest blood relative, Harry is protected as long as he stays where she stays until the age of 17. Harry's behaviour towards Cho in the film kinda pissed me off. In the book, they actually started a relationship and breaking up was a mutual decision. Cho was not tortured by Umbridge and forced to reveal, AGAINST HER WILL, where Dumbledore's Army was practising. It was Cho's friend Marietta Edgecombe who WILLINGLY leaked information to Umbridge. Btw in the scene where Harry tells Ron and Hermione about the kiss their laughing was improvised. J.K. Rowling said that Harry wouldn't have remembered his parents' death clearly enough because of him being just a baby at the time, but, unlike in the book, in the first film he sees Quirrell die. Because of this, he should've been able to see the Thestrals from his second year, but Thestrals hadn't been mentioned in the books at the time so the filmmakers wouldn't have known about the potential continuity error. Beautiful note: Evanna Lynch had written a letter to J.K. Rowling about her struggles with anorexia before being cast as Luna Lovegood. And if you're into some behind the scenes gossip: Emma Thompson (Trelawney) and Kenneth Branagh (Lockhart) were married but he left her for Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix), though years before. So if you've seen Love Actually then THAT moment hits you even harder.

Heida

My man Sirius got hit wit the avvy davvy, only one person survives that and they made a movie about him, it aint sirius

Chris Svean

Harry's mother is exactly like Hermione. They are both muggle-born witches, or mudbloods, as Malfoy would say.

James Hannon

Hogwarts aka best wingman ever?

Jason Hammock

I literally can't watch this movie in full because Umbridge has so much screen time lmao

Chris Svean

Let's gooooo!! I love watching people experience Umbridge for the first time. And that Dumbledore vs Voldemort duel is my favorite in the series
