Every time I watch Fall - an underrated movie from a couple years ago - I'm reminded of this episode's voicemail scenes.

AdrianF

When I originally watched this show when I was around 18, I hated Skyler and saw her as the antagonist in the series, but rewatching this show now at 28, I understand her character and perspective so much more. Both of them are relatable and understandable, but both of them are also doing some shitty and manipulative things. It adds a new level of appreciation for the show watching it as a more mature person now!

Erno

I can't tell you how much I appreciate you guys looking at both sides and not immediately jumping on Skyler. So many in this fandom just refuse to acknowledge her pov and make her out to be the villain, when she isn't. Especially being mad at her "cheating," all the while blatantly ignoring that Walt forced his way back into their home, knowing she isn't feeling safe or comfortable with him around, and refusing to grant her a divorce. Skyler isn't perfect, but it's always been absurd that people treat her like her flaws and crimes outweigh Walt's. She's a saint compared to him.

connie

IFT could also mean I Found Tortilla :)

Lyn Hurst

Skyler looked up the non emergency police number in the book

Justin

In season 1 episode 4 when Walt is telling the family about how Him and Skyler met he says they were eating grilled cheese 10 feet apart at her work. When Skyler calls the cops on Walt Walt makes him and Jr grilled cheese sandwiches and you could say Skyler was 10 feet apart from them across the living room

Justin

The eye represents the eye of God Vince once said. And Walt is not taking it with him it's just following him

Justin

I.F.T. Gotta love the sense of humor from the creators of the show!

GYG359

The problem with many viewers of this show including yourself, is you watch it with a very black and white lens. You establish very clear sides - Walter is the bad guy and everyone else around him is innocent. Perhaps Skylar has an opportunity now to have an honest open conversation with Walt and level with him instead of shutting him out and fuelling the issue. Perhaps sleeping with another criminal isn't the answer? Perhaps there are nuances as to why Walt has chosen this path instead of working for Gray Matter. And please, just because Jessie is always victimized in the show, doesn't mean he should be absolved of all guilt or responsibility for his actions. The point of this show is to point out the different shades of grey many of the characters exhibit, some obviously more than others.

Hari Randhawa

Meth manufacturers are definitely contributing to the problem, they are mass producing meth and distributing it far and wide, especially to poor communities which fuels their addictions.

MrMoleHole

Not to defend meth manufacturers, but no one is forcing anybody to use it. As Hank mentioned in an earlier episode, at one time it was legal, and alcohol, which has destroyed far more lives than meth ever will, was illegal.

GYG359

Lol

Daniel

It's so interesting Jesse had like two lines of dialogue this episode and the rest is us just watching his quiet grieving process and still being moved by his performance. That just really hit me! The acting on this show is so next level always. If nothing else, I commend Skylar for wanting to protect her children's perception of their father. So many couple separate and want to throw their s/o under the bus to look like the better parent, but Skylar is pretty much doing the exact opposite. At this point, I think Skylar is just not buying Walt's BS, whatsoever. He had other options to pay for treatment, to get a better paying job that would be legal lol but he chose the dangerous and illegal route, still justifying to himself that he had to do that way. I think she just doesn't believe a word that is coming out of his mouth, and I don't blame her! Her sleeping with Ted is basically just a big FU to hit him where it hurts.

Ailene Evangelista

These 2 crimes are not remotely the same. Methamphetamines harm millions of people while Ted's crime hurts almost nobody "The IRS". When we think of morals we think of harm. She is hated because millions of people have zero moral axioms. They just simp for Walt while getting offended. It is all emotions and no consistency. Using an argumentum ad populum fallacy as justification for your own hate proves my point. Most people are all emotions and no logic.

Shawn Brink

Hank is afraid and he's afraid to admit it. The bar fight in his mind is a way of proving to himself that he's not a pussy.

Milorad

Um she’s the one who forced him to go into treatment even though they didn’t have the money and is fine with Ted committing crimes.

JonSnow21

Skyler , the biggest hypocrite on the planet, helps Ted cover up his crimes and looks a blind eye but hates Walter for making money for the family and cheats on him , no wonder why she’s one of the most hated tv characters ever by the public.

JonSnow21

TORTILLA IM CRYINNNNNN 💀💀💀💀

micah

Lmao. How can she just "go through" with the divorce when Walt wouldn't agree to it. That's not how it works

Tae Kellz

I generally agree with your post but I don't know if I really agree with putting the responsibility for Ted on Walter, unless I am misunderstanding you. Yes things can influence and push people into situations but at the end of the day its an active choice she made consistently in that situation. The cheater is ultimately the one responsible for cheating. Same applies to Walt with the meth. Jesse, I can't really go in depth with that how i'd like at this juncture in the show.

SuddenImpulse

Its hilarious to me how people can excuse the lies and everything else Walter has done because its "for his family". So when you've asked your significant other to tell the truth and they dont multiple times and continue to lie its all ok? Im not saying Skylar is perfect and dont really agree with the sleeping with Ted part but all of this is a cause of Walters actions. That even includes what Walt had made Jesse do. Him going down this path is hurting alot of people in different ways.

Tae Kellz

I think that if Walt had never gotten the offer from Gretchen and Elliot, I would be on his side 100%. Although I would still have sympathy for Skyler. They offered to not only pay for it outright, but also give him a job so he can work himself to get the money for his treatment; and he refuses in favor of doing something illegal. He can't pretend it was all for his Family when there was a clean way to do all of this, if he only put his pride aside for his family's sake. And I imagine that's how Skyler looks at it (at least I would in her shoes). I would say I sympathize with Skyler more because to me she is the one being unwillingly thrusted into an impossible situation. But the great thing about this show is it has so many point of views!

Chris Mullen

It's cool to see the world opening up with Gus having ties to Walter already and now meeting with the Salamanca's who obviously represent the cartel across the border. I feel like this is when the show really started hitting its stride.

James Woodford

I'm glad to see both of you acknowledge Skyler's situation and give her some respect for everything. People can obviously point out that she could've done this or that but most of the people who bring that up are doing it because they want to defend their hero(Walter.) The amount of hate Skyler got when the show aired was downright pathetic in comparison to Walter(the hero is everyone's eyes.) As for the discussion at the table with them and how she looked 'disgusted' with Walter, we have to understand that Walter has told her he makes meth(something that destroys people's lives.) How many kids or young men were destroyed because of meth(etc) and here was Walter basically saying "We're taken care of now, our kids are good. Everyone else's lives currently being destroyed because of the drug I made doesn't matter because look, here's this bag of money and that's all that matters." Viewers seem to forget this because we love Walter(and God Damn the actor himself is amazing) but the truth is Walter isn't the hero here. The writing and acting on the show is top notch, some of the best in history of a tv show and you're seeing it play out. It only gets better.

TimTakDoh

Yep, you pretty much hit the nail on the head Spartan.. The toy eye represents judgment.. the consequences of Walt's actions.. cause & effect.. butterfly effect.. whatever terminology you wanna use.. thanks guys.. looking foward to the next.. Edit: From what I've seen from Ted so far.. he's a snake and a douche bag.."sorry".. He was waiting for this moment with Skylar regardless of her being married..

PastaDon

OMG I JUST GOT THIS REFERENCE. WTF!!

CpaSpartan Pudgey

People will point out that Walter could have just taken Eliot’s money and the whole situation would have been resolved. And that’s true. But that doesn’t somehow absolve Skyler of her many faults.

Roy Koopa

🤣🤣🤣

Danny

Hence the name of the episode...I. F. T LOL

David Cansler

Tortuga: * shows up * Spartan: oh thats tortilla! Fucking hilarious

Pablo

Skyler is delusional. Hear me out.. She was the one to force Walt into treatment when they clearly did not have the means to get the "best medical treatment" she was pursuing. Walt didn't even want to plunge his family into suffocating debts. And now she acts like she will not end up on the streets after Walt's dead and she has to take care of a child and a teenager with special needs. She's an accountant yet she rushes her family into bankruptcy at every turn lmao. I feel for her, but wake up Sky, you can't get EVERYTHING just by yourself. Walt has done MANY mistakes, but he has also taken very good decisions that ultimately led to him having financial security for his family, whereas Sky hasn't probably taken one good decision since day 1, no matter her intentions.

HDN

Hank might have done it to get into worse standing with the DEA to make sure he doesn't have to go back to El Paso. He didn't follow proper "protocole" in this ambush for a reason. I'm not sure, never tried to look up people's interpretations of this particular scene.

HDN

I feel sorry for Skyler a lot more. Before she found out the truth about Walter she didnt do ANYTHING wrong. Just look on how much pain and moral problems did Walter put on her. Her husband. Her life partner for decades. She was a good wife (as far as we know) for those years. And what she gets in return? Also look how she reacted when she learnd that Ted was doing things illegal. And now her husband makes her live with a criminal. She needs to lie to her family, her son. Walter destroyed their marriage with his own actions.

kolorowo

Skyler does my head in. This meme developed that somehow everybody’s too hard on Skyler. ‘Oh, what else could she have done? She tried to get him to leave, she’s protecting the family!’ Well, she could have done exactly what the lawyer told her to do! Or, if we’re just going to accept that she didn’t have to turn him in, she could still have went through with the divorce. What did she do instead? She chose to sleep with another dude! And we can understand it and whatever. But this pretence that Skyler is some sort of poor angel is crazy. She’s a nightmare who deals with things so badly. Even the way she dealt with Marie’s shoplifting was ridiculous. Or the way she spoke to the cop who was spending his day off trying to help her find Walt when he was missing. There needs to be a re-reevaluation of Skyler.

Roy Koopa

Ever since I watched this episode I wondered what IFT meant and just last night I was watching another reaction and Skylers last words in the episode made it click for me 😂I.F.T.= “I fucked Ted”
