Breaking Bad 2x13 Reaction & Review

Hank: "Biggest donation gets a six pack of my very own Schraderbrau." Gomez: "Smallest donation gets 2 six packs!"

I know a lot of people are saying "Season 2 is where it all starts to get good." Season 2 is the slowest and hard to get through. I almost stopped watching myself when it came out. It's a rare show though that gets better every season

Mike

The plane crash was definitely not meant to be the climax. The climax was Skylar leaving Walt and laying out her case against him. The plane crash was built up over the season to represent the effects of Walt's action spiraling out of control, destroying lives, and raining hell upon his house. He's now past the point of no return. That's what the plane and all its buildup is supposed to symbolize.

Josh Lopater

The photo was facing outward and Gus did see Walter's face.

GYG359

Since you guys love the actor who plays Gus "Giancarlo Esposito", you should check out the series (The Mandalorian) where he plays the ultimate baddy. 🤣😎

Robert Marar

Yeah, so Gus is an extremely capable guy. He doesn’t suspect. He knows.

have you guys considered reacting to Gen V?? its a spin off of The Boys?

SnorlaX

I would dare say star trek of the 90's emphasized the acting quality over action scenes...delancie as "Q" required talent to pull off

Nate Terry

John de Lancie is such a good actor. I think he gets written off because people only know him from Star Trek but he's been great in everything I've ever seen him in like Star Trek, Stargate, Breaking Bad, etc.

4 of the episode titles actually give away the last scene. 737 Down Over ABQ. If you watch the black and white intros together for those 4 episodes they form one solid scene that foreshadows basically the interim between the Season 2 finale and Season 3 premiere. In hindsight its extremely obvious but they kept Donald Margulis's job a secret until the last few minutes of the season and they never really gave away who the evidence bags belonged to or anything so it was only ever speculative. And I apologize if this is a spoiler but all I can say is, prepare yourselves for the next 3 seasons.

The way Jane’s father reacted made sense since Jane was an addict and it’s something that has always been a possibility, of course he was still in shock. And yes Gus saw the photo

Sophia

I enjoyed this reaction i dont know why some people are upset about it but anyway I enjoyed it keep up the good work Spartan & Pudgey I hope you guys do Star Wars soon (hopefully in storyline order) I cant wait to see your reactions to it.. Take care everybody! <3 :)

John Smith

I was so looking forward to this reaction! ABQ is one of my favorite episodes of the earlier seasons! I actually kinda love the final scene. Walt and Jesse caused the crash and the deaths of all the people on board. Sure, the immediate cause was that Jane's father messed up at work, but Walt caused him to be in that mental state by letting Jane choke to death without helping, and Jesse caused it by doing drugs with her and making her relapse. And because of them, all the people on those planes died. "Which one?" - How to destroy your marriage and all your attempts of saying it within two words... I hope I didn't hype Walter's "two words" up too much in my messages... Walt messed up so hard with just those two words. The scene where Skyler tells him all the things she's found out about him is amazing! All the stuff with Jane is beyond sad... The first time I saw the scene of her choking to death, it made it difficult to sleep for me, and I thought about that scene all day the day after.

Daria

lol some people are upset in these comments. For me the climax is Skyler confronting Walt and kicking him out. The plane explosion is just the icing on the cake and the visual reinforcement of how Walt's decisions have had unintended consequences.

Melchizedek

Everyone has his own opinions. Has nothing to do with being a patreon nerd when you like all the seasons and it’s writing

Rey Jr

I don't get that impression from them at all so far. They do seem to recognize the show's brilliance and seem to be enjoying it. I think it's completely fair to think this finale was underwhelming, it kinda is compared to even S1's finale and obviously the rest going forward

Paul

finale was underwhelming i agree, i have always thought that. theres mediocre/boring episodes in both breaking bad and bcs whether these patreon nerds like it or not, pls continue being honest ab how you feel after an episode, season 1/2 of bb were mid imo, compared to the rest of the show atleast.

weezer fan

pretty underwhelming yeah

MrChicam

S&P are currently watching a lot of anime'. They just watched HotD and GoT. They also watched all the LotR stuff, and are now diving into Harry Potter. Those kinds of movies and shows are vastly different than the seemingly simple world of Breaking Bad. I think (especially Spartan) that maybe they're a bit underwhelmed because they're so used to seeing enormous battles, intense action, dragons, and all manner of wizardry, magic and fantastical goings-on. Additionally, the fantasy-type genre is clearly what they enjoy the most... and that's totally fine! I just hope they are able to separate their expectations from reality and recognize the gem that BB represents.

I usually think you are very perceptive, but Spartan thinking Gus did not see Walt’s picture when it could not be more obvious, and he actually starts with “Is this one of your agents?” And how is two jet planes crashing and dozens/hundreds of people dying as indirect result of Walt’s actions underwhelming? I don’t even know what to say.

Jiří Werner

Jane's death affected her dad so profoundly, his mind was scrambled. In using the phonetic alphabet call signs when talking to the aircraft he said Jane instead of Juliet. His grief for Jane caused him to make mistakes controlling the air traffic and directly caused the collision of 2 passenger jets. Hundreds of people dead because of walts decision to let Jane die. Which by the way walt caused, because him shaking Jessie was what caused Jane to roll onto her back.

Greg Amor

Remember thar it was walt shaking Jessie trying to wake him that made Jane roll onto her back. If walt hadn't gone there, Jane wouldn't be dead.

Greg Amor

The plane crash ending, even though you said it is underwhelming, it shows the consequences of Walter's and Jesse's selfish actions. Every action they took led to the death of hundreds of people. If you think about it they are the 2 main culprits for this aircraft disaster. And you have to mnow that aircraft accidents are extremely rare. This ending is way worse than what you Spartan and Pudgey theorized. If you actually think of how many people Walter and Jesse killed with their actions. (I hope moderator can pass this message to them, love you all)

Leonidas Raftopoulos

This show has a ton of cool references within the show's world and outside of it. One of them is that the episode titles of this season give you a hint at what is to come; specifically, ep. 1, 4, 10, and 13. ("Seven Thirty-Seven", "Down", "Over", "ABQ")

Kevin

First of all, Aaron Pauls' performance in this episode was next level. Queen said it best but I liked a lot of your symbolism. Time will tell if you are correct. I don't know one person who foresaw the plane crash the first time they watched. The writers kept that well hidden the entire season. I can remember being anxious to know the ramifications of all of that when it was on.

William Staggs

Skyler had given Walt plenty of chances to be real and honest with her about things. Each time he responded with awkward explanations and outright avoidance. I don't blame her one bit for being fed up and not giving him yet another chance to fumble his way through an explanation, especially once she put all the other pieces together well above and beyond the 2nd cell phone. I believe that after some time to think, you'll realize how genius the airplane crash was for the season. It symbolizes so many things and certainly exemplifies how actions can have an unintended snowball effect.

4brtndr1

I was just about to comment this, also wanted to say that gus did see the photo when he asked if the person on in it was an agent I think Spartan must’ve overlooked it

big meat beast

The plane crash being foreshadowed the entire season is meant to emphasize how Walter’s actions are effecting more people than we realize. Him cooking meth leads to people like Jane dying and subsequently leads the ruining the lives of thousands of other people like Jane’s dad which then leads to even more consequences like planet’s crashing killing even more people. It symbolizes the rolling ball effect that Walter’s actions have.
