Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

The show has never said that the lion turtles gave anything to the animals. It could be assumed that the animals had the ability like the lion turtles...The lion turtles were sentient and according to ATLA lion turtle, they figured out how to bend the energy inside a person's spirit which i would say gives them the ability to grant bending to humans. Also, bending the elements is different from the "bending disciplines." which is why they are influenced from real life martial arts styles. Remember in the Avatar Wan episode, the spirits referred to the firebenders as "fire tossers." they literally just threw fire. Wan learned to master firebending from that white dragon which showed him the "Dancing Dragon" style. So, the dragon's "firebending" is crafted firebending to a specific style kinda like Crane style Kung fu or Tai Chi.

The Lion turtles gave the humans bending, and the animals/spirits taught the humans how to use the bending. Especially they taught the humans to expand beyond "shoot elements at the enemy" and to use it in every single facet in life outside of combat. The philosophy metaphors for the elements is what makes Atla so interesting for myself.

No they are right.

No just no. It's a retcon the reactors are right.

I hope you guys read this it will explain the question you have. There was no retcon. The Sky Bison, Dragons, Badger Moles, and the Moon are the original benders. If the first benders got their bending from them than it makes no sense why current non benders couldn't go and learn it from the original benders. The Lion Turtles gave the power of the elements to the humans. While the original benders taught them how to properly use it as an extension to their body. They taught them how to properly bend. That's why you see Wan learning from the Dragon, and why the other fire tossers were so impressed with Wan on how he used fire. Think about it like this someone can give me a sword, but I would need a master to use it properly. I hope that makes sense. In short the power of the elements come from the turtles, and the original benders taught them how to use it.

Regarding bending origins: The lionturtles gave the ability to bend to humans. However, the abilities were pretty rudimentary. When Wan trained his firebending, humans remarked that it was like an extension of his body, unlike what they’d ever seen. He got that way through the dragons. So basically the lionturtles granted the ability, which got passed down genetically to some humans and not others. But the original bending instructors were the sky bison, moon, badger moles, and dragons. And because the story of Wan kind of became lost to history, all credit went to the original masters.
