True. But he does also hate who he has become or who he forced himself to become in order to make money b4 his impending death. (Or so he thought) He doesn't like the man in the reflection but likes what that man does. A conundrum to be sure & brilliant writing/storytelling

Garrett Serbin

It's called adrenaline.

Hari Randhawa

I think the last scene with Walter punching the towel dispenser was only him releasing a lot of pent-up tension and emotional turmoil he'd been experiencing ever since his cancer diagnosis. Of course, having to constantly lie and cover up his felonious activity was also a major factor for needing to vent his stress.

GYG359

I think it depends on the viewer with BCS early seasons. I personally love the early seasons and how it begins, but some people just want more Breaking Bad.

Bob Marley

Well said. I've been dealing with cancer this year. For a brief time my prognosis wasn't great. I woke up from surgery to learn they'd gotten it all, no further treatment needed. It's hard to explain something that is weird, wonderful, but uncomfortable all at once. It took me some time to accept the good news was real. Then I felt I'd somehow gotten off too easily. Having a life-threatening diagnosis is surreal enough. Making peace with it is so tough. Having it all change back so fast, it's very difficult to recalibrate your feelings. Hard to put into words what it's like when your own body tries to kill you & you survive. Anyway, hope you are well!

Robin Lee Melendez

I find the beginning of BCS far more enjoyable than the beginning of Breaking Bad

J_Fley .

I don't find BCS as a slow one, there was a lot of action going on from the first seasons, I really liked every single season from it, how it shows the characters developing

No need for all the spoilers

I feel for Walt, because he changed his whole lifestyle, and created lie after lie to his family.. just to find out he is better.. I couldn’t imagine what he would be feeling.

Amber Mary

You were talking about Saul mentioning the cartel in the introduction of your video (referring to the last episode) and you are correct he did say something about the cartel and mentioned the name of somebody in it (Lalo). Good pick up, You have to watch Better Call Saul to find out about that story and figure out how things ended (kind of, maybe} between Saul and some of the cartel associates. Ties in beautifully with Breaking Bad, you should watch it but be prepared for the first two seasons to be incredibly slow to the point where you'll probably feel like giving up. It's not until about halfway through season 3 that Better Call Saul picks up, finds it's groove and eventually becomes one of the top tier television shows of all time. Nearly every single character from Breaking Bad at least makes an appearance in it.

Exactly

Rey Jr

I think you really got the ending Pudgey. I always felt he had that outburst because he just did all that assuming his family would get the money but he wouldn't be around to deal with the consequences of it but now he will. Now he has to move on with his life and move on living with the decisions he just made. Death was his way out but that's not necessarily an option at the moment anymore

Pogger White

Cancer goes away but hes balls deep in crime now. And hes killed a man for this. The point of it all was he was going to die soon. To find out you may live but now face prison is upsetting

Shadow Sword

As a cancer survivor, some of us accept death. I was given a year and now I'm cured. It's hard to come back from accepting death. Pudgy is right on the money. Walt did all these terrible things. Now he has to live with them.

Demented Avenger

I could be totally wrong but my interpretation of Walt punching the paper towel dispenser was that he had just gone through absolute hell in the desert because he had seen that scan and thought his cancer was worse, only to find out it was not that at all. And the (easily accessible) water reminded him of how thirsty and close to death they were and how unnecessary it all was in the end.

Shay

One of the things I love most about this series is that it was never predictable for me. Such smart storytelling and everything is intentional. I love hearing what you think will happen. Can't wait for more.

Kristin Kanan

I think Walt’s cancer getting better is a huge thing because now he could stop cooking meth

Rey Jr

I love how Marie makes a big thing about how the xrays aren't hard to read, yet it turns out Walt's xray was completely misleading without extensive medical knowledge of how to read it

lemmy

Great take

It's funny you mentioned "this is probably how people see us" Pudgey.. because watching your GoT intro's & outro's.. I remember thinking, these guys kind of remind me of Jesse and Walt lowkey.. lol.. you know, in a comedic way not a negative way.. thanks Spudgey.. looking foward to the next..

PastaDon

True but if they heard on the street it was Jesse, and if that got back to Hank, would probably raise questions and suspicion on why it was going around town that Jesse crushed his head with an ATM. Still not attention that's good to have on Jesse by Hank in particular after sweating him before.

lemmy

Fantastic reaction. As a fan of The Godfather, the references are awesome (particularly Hank's line at the end). Love how the first shot focuses on Walter staring at the water in the waiting room, then later in the episode he nearly dies because he has no water. Then we see Walt treasuring it at the end in the bathroom before he starts sparring with the paper towel dispenser. The reason he gets so mad is because he realizes that he will have to live with all of the awful things he has done and that he will no longer be able to justify that kind of behavior with "doing it for my family." In the end, the reflection on the paper towel dispenser shows a distorted version of Walter which is what he has become. Every episode ending is impactful in this show, but this one stands out.

Jared

the way i interpreted the ending, more than just learning he has to live after accepting death, he has to live with the things he's done in order to leave behind something for his family. killing, robbing and cooking meth was only an option because he never saw there realistically being a possibility of surviving, never planned on having to actually live with his consciousness. in the beaten metal reflection, his face is distorted, looking like some twisted monster. i think what we see is the way walt views himself after all he has done. ALSO you guys already understand jeese and walt's relationship so well. they could both do some things better, but the bond between them is very unique in the parental/teacher aspects. if walter jr. is walter's son, then jesse is heinsberg's son

the quote "ahhh... wire" is so iconic i still find myself randomly saying it years and years down the line

Hussshhh!!!

Ersin Günay

Ah the quintessential cooking episode featuring my favorite element from the periodic table, the wire. Such a classic. 😁

Ersin Günay

Aaahh wire...

Hey guys! Just wanted to point out something Pudgey said at the beginning (sorry if you touch on it later). But, the police already know that it was the guy's wife that crushed his head with an ATM machine! Saul mentioned last episode that the Jesse rumor going around was fake. I believe his exact words were more like "It was his wife, open and shut case." Anyway love your reactions guys! Always have a great time watching.

Martin

Hey guys, can't find episode 8- did you'all post it already?

Lucas

Agree with your interpretation Pudgey with regard to the ending when Walt punched the towel dispenser. Up until now, he was breaking bad on the premise that he was going to die and his final act was to get his family enough money after he passed. He also had spent the previous few days with Jesse cooking and went through the ordeal with the RV only to realise he did not need to.
