The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (EXTENDED EDITION) | UNCUT Reaction

Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. I've spent the past two days cheering and crying with you, and it was great! I'm another of the people who was in the film's fan club and who is listed in the credits! I've seen this so many times, I didn't know I could cry this hard again, but watching for the "first time" with you pulled it out of me. This trilogy is the first of your reactions I've watched, and I had such a great time. Thanks so much for these! (PS: I really enjoyed the first season of Rings of Power. It's different from Peter Jackson's stuff, but that's okay. It's its own little brand of entertainment.)

Sam os the GOAT

They were not well received.

Big ups to Andy Serkis, who plays Smeagol. He did all the motion capture and voice for him and absolutely killed it. Deserved Oscar's for the 2nd and 3rd films. Can't wait to watch this reaction tomorrow! Cheers! Literally bought your patreon just to watch this, but now seeing you've reacted to ATLA and Korea as well as many other I'll be rewatching alot! Thank you!

Also Denethor was poisoned by Sauron through the palantir...it was dangerous and even Pippin using it briefly nearly ruined him. It ruined Saruman. You cant really blame Denethor. He wasnt a bad man. He loved Faramir. If you can understand Gollum it's the same really. Sauron is the deceiver.

Mark Laniel

Eowyn is Theodens niece. His son died, that was her cousin.

Mark Laniel

To add to the other comments about Frodo leaving Middle Earth for the undying lands. He would eventually be joined by Sam, who was given special permission by the Valar (gods) to travel to the undying lands because he was also a ring-bearer for a short period of time. Merry and Pippin grew old in the Shire before they traveled to Gondor where they lived out their lives with Aragorn. They were eventually buried next to Aragorn. Gimli and Legolas traveled across the sea to the undying lands after Aragorn and Arwen had died.

Emma

Became a patron for Frodo.

Charlie Hinnant

if you guys loved the lord of the rings trilogy and wanna learn more about the lore check out and watch the youtube channel nerd of the rings!

Dylan

If you love how Gollum talks and want more. The actor who played him, Andy Serkis, did the audio for the entire book series.

Michael

How ive understood it is, Smeagol and Frodo are 2 sides of the same coin, Frodo got his redemption because he had friends to pull him back from it, even after going through it all and suffering, Smeagol didnt have friends to pull him out and thus was consumed. I relate carrying the ring to addiction. It devours you and it is near impossible to beat but if you've a true friend they will help you make the journey easier.

Jere Kurvinen

Jaime Lannister is Gollum and Cersei is the One Ring.

J_Fley .

After watching your full length reactions to this trilogy, I went and listened to the commentaries for Return of the King from the extended edition. Each of the extended editions comes with four separate commentaries. One is from the team of Peter Jackson and the two primary screenwriters, one of whom is Jackson’s wife. Then there is a commentary from a combination of the actors. Many of them participate. The other two commentaries are from the creators and producers. All of them are wonderful to listen to, and you learn quite a lot about the lore and the movies. But I would really recommend checking out the first two I listed. You get so much out of Peter Jackson and his team. And the actors are fun and informative. All of it adds to the appreciation of this fantastic trilogy and what went into its creation.

Blackeyedlily

Nerd of the Rings is wonderful! That would be the very first YouTube channel I would recommend for getting information about the lore. Besides knowing his lore, he uses great artwork and incorporates the maps when appropriate.

Blackeyedlily

Sam does go the Undying Lands, but he’s not necessarily reunited with Frodo. Mortals live shorter lives in the Undying Lands, and Frodo is probably dead by the time Sam sails. Tolkien never says either way.

Kate

I dont know if anyone mentioned but Sam also sails to the undying lands and was reunited with frodo after his wife dies. Since he was a ring bearer (when frodo was captured) he is able to go

Gary

Favorite character: Samwise the Brave. Literally carried Frodo to get the job done.

Thomas Jefferson Reyes

The Hobbit series is fun too and many epic scenes. Go for it!

Thomas Jefferson Reyes

This is the gold standard of the fantasy genre. Smeagol HAD to die. It's incredibly tragic, but that's the point of his arc. Only death can give him redemption to be finally free and be at peace. Smeagol's redemption came when he saved Frodo from being fully consumed by the ring.

Thomas Jefferson Reyes

Pudgey I love you lmaao. I've seen this movie AT LEAST 20 times and know it by heart but I still bawled my eyes out with you.

elli

There are alot of lore videos about the whole tolkien world on youtube, could be fun to react to some of the main characters to get them know more (its explaining them what they did and do in the book). Good one is "Nerd of the Rings". i loved listening to the stories through this channel. The lord of the rings and the hobbit are only one part of the giant world, there are so many more stories. For example Saurons story is way more deeper then just a bad guy, he has a whole history, for example he was a luitenant of a bigger dark lord called "Morgoth". One more thing i am sad the movies did not portray as much, denethor also had one of those seeing stones. It is called a palantir (seeing stone), denethor used it for long times and got mentally hit alot by sauron, but he never broke to saurons will, it shows his strength (specially when he is a men which are easily corrupted). It is a bummer they did not show or gave some kind of explaination on why he was so crazy.

Chrisiyyi

There are channels about the stories they could react to

Chrisiyyi

I'm gonna join in on the ppl wanting a Hobbit reaction from you guys ^_^ And these Lotr movie reactions were amazing! I was crying with Pudgey every single time xD

JiaHailstorm

Legolas and Gimli become epic friends and stay together in the books, the OG unlikely duo I'd love to see a spinoff for. From the Wikipedia page for Legolas: After the destruction of the One Ring, Legolas remained in Minas Tirith for Aragorn's coronation and marriage to Arwen. Later, Legolas and Gimli travelled together through Fangorn forest and to the Glittering Caves of Aglarond, as Legolas had promised Gimli. Eventually Legolas brought south many Silvan Elves, and they dwelt in Ithilien, and it became once again the "fairest country in all the westlands." They stayed in Ithilien for "a hundred years of Men." After Aragorn dies, Legolas built a small ship and sailed West, reportedly taking Gimli with him.

Right. I think there's no other ending that makes sense for Smeagol. No one spent more time with the ring than him. Hundreds of years of poison in his mind. There was no coming back from that. Frodo's kindness brought him close, but unfortunately Sam couldn't see that in time, and Sam's treatment gave Gollum all the evidence he needed that the ring was the only thing that mattered.

Brent

Beautiful reaction. I just discovered your channel a few days ago and I had to join just so I could watch Two Towers and RotK uncut with you. I've never done that before, and I loved every second of it. Thank you for making that experience possible.

Brent

A trilogy of films that will last as long as film itself. Thank you both so much! It’s been incredible to get back into Middle-Earth. Hopefully see you both reacting to the Hobbit! You mention you wanted to see more of Elves and Dwarves, there’s more of them to be seen in the next trilogy😉

Invisigoth99

Sams world and everyone else is just living in it.

Monkey D. Tomy

Sam was my favorite character in the trilogy. I feel like he really showed up for Frodo. Never gave up on him. From talking his first steps outside to Shire to being absolutely critical to getting the ring to Mt Doom. The greatest friend in any story.

James Woodford

For me, knowing the lore wasn't the issue, I went into it very open minded, but I was taken aback with the terrible acting, the bad writing and the faux world, and in general the "fakeness" of it all. Lotr looks and feels real and authentic, they built most of the sets, there wasn't a whole lot of CGI, even the armour and weapons were all forgemade, the actors and extras for the dwarves, hobbits, orcs etc. wore realistic prosthetics and weren't CGI (motion capture or enitrely fake altogether) and you just felt wholly immersed. And thats even before we get to the glaring problems with regards to the story in terms of the Lore of Middle Earth, but, of course this is my opinion, and I will undoubtedly watch Season 2, for the simple fact its Middle-Earth.

Asylum

Sad to hear you won’t be watching the Ring’s of Power. Atleast for now. I hope to watch your reaction of it at some point. I honestly loved it and so did my gf. I was shocked after watching it to hear some people weren’t for it. I honestly think a lot of that is because it’s not based too much off the books which straight away can put people off, and also because like the fellowship of the ring it is a little slower paced and getting you to know the people in it. This is no spoiler as it is a prequel, you would get to see some characters that you maybe know already. So I think that alone is a great reason to watch it, and if you like the Hobbit I personally think you would like it. I liked the hobbit but I liked rings of power even more.

Jamiefishing7

Yo I joined your Patreon for this. You guys kill it. Let's go RETURN OF THE KIIIIIIIIING!!!!!!

jherrerakamin

I look forward to you guys watching a video on some of the deeper lore kind of like you did for the Game of Thrones seasons.

Andrew Woroniecki

This film is tied with the most Academy Awards won for a film, including Best Picture. Given Hollywood's tendency to NOT take Fantasy & Superhero films seriously, this is a testament to the transcendence of this Trilogy. In hindsight, all three films should have been Best Pictures.

This is no mere Ranger.

These movies are very rewatchable, and if possible get better each rewatch. They always seem daunting to start because of the run times but man do they fly by when you watch them.

David

Not just the greatest trilogy ever made, but the 3 greatest movies of all time. You guys loved the lore videos for Thrones. After you've finished The Hobbit movies, you guys are gonna have all the lore videos on YouTube to delve into in your free time to your hearts content. The movies are absolutely phenomenal and cannot be rivaled but they just sit atop the surface of Tolkiens masterpiece. Delve greedily and deeply, but caution, there be balrogs ahead. ❤️

Micheal O'Neill

Greatest story ever told!

Owen Hargrave

To Spartan's point at the end about not seeing enough of the other races and no dwarves other than Gimli. Yes the LOTR was more about the beginning of the age of men and without spoiling anything in The Hobbit trilogy you'll see the other races get involved waaay more and even with being a "flawed" movie series compared to LOTR, it definitely scratches the itch of wanting to see more of middle earth and it's people.

Ersin Günay

Yes to the hobbit ESPECIALLY if the end of this left you wanting more middle earth!

Stryder Garvey

the bonfire scene is one of my fav movie scenes of all time. Goosebumps promised. Without questions one of the best movies ever made

Nils Rose

Also a gentle detail Gandalf brought 3 eagles in the end just in case Sméagol was also there 😢

Stryder Garvey

Dont watch Rings of Power its truly awful. It would be exactly what you said about pudgey hating things 'being forced' its that from minute go.

Anthony Brown

Everytime the riders of Rohan cheer to death and he clashes his sword against all their spears I get goosebumps this movie is just different y’all

Stryder Garvey

They're fairly nonchalant about Shelob because she's slightly smaller than the average Australian spider.

Louis Marti

Samwise fighting Shelob is among the top 3 bravest and most badass acts a hobbit has ever done! Samwise the Brave! No Sam no story!

Stryder Garvey

"I wonder if Arwen will die and then [Eowyn] will be like his human wife but have Arwen's child?" * sound of my head exploding *

Louis Marti

top 3 films of all time for me.

Owen Hargrave

PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way. GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it. PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what? GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise. PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad. GANDALF: No. No, it isn't. Fantastic writing. Fantastic movie. Loved watching with you both. My name is in the final credits of this extended movie. As a LOTR Member. Back when this movie came out, you could become a membership to the Fellowship. I got a certificate and my name got put in the DVD at the end of the credits. With all other members. And yes to The Hobbit. Watch Bilbo's adventure with Gandoulf and the Dwarfs. Which happened before LOTR.. You'll meet all the Dwarfs from the Minds of Moria. And find out about Gimli's father and who the rest of the Dwarfs found dead in Moria were. Watch the Dwarfs try to get there home back from the Dragon, who has taken it from them. A Hobbit's Tale, by Bilbo Baggins. In his younger days.

Not to mention frodo was never able to heal fully from the stab by a morgul blade on weather top. He still feels the lasting pain afterwards and as galadriel says in movie two, "To be a ring bearer, is to be alone", this follows through even more for frodo. As he believes he has saved the world for all his friends, but even still, the pain of the ring, the PTSD, the pain of the wounds, all still remind him of the horror. So he sails west to the undying lands, not to mention after the movies in the 4th age, Sam's wife dies and he passes the book to his daughter and gets allowed to sail into west and reunite with frodo (as he was briefly a ring bearer in the books when he had the ring after shelob stung frodo), also legolas & gimli also join them there in the undying lands. Gimli being the only dwarf to be allowed inside, and he reunites with galadriel in Valinor in a kind of full circle moment :) PS The Undying Lands / Valinor tldr is an actual place where the gods basically live, and all elves are invited, and others like our heroes. Its a place most don't come back from (cough gandalf) so basically heaven/death. But its nice to know they reunite after :p

Anthony Brown

Gimli is not scottish ahaha, he has a welsh accent

Ghostcat

I joined Patreon for GoT, but I think this (and the whole trilogy) was my favourite of all your reactions. I do feel like GoT is better in a lot of ways, but LotR is closer to my heart, maybe because it’s a childhood thing. Really enjoyed the level of analysis and engagement. I think you two will get a lot out of rewatches. :) Would you ever consider doing a much shortened highlights reel of the special features? Others have commented on it, but: Frodo didn't have to leave Middle Earth. He wanted to. He has deep psychological wounds, and he isn't able to settle back into ordinary life. Leaving Middle Earth, in a kind of death, is the only way he can heal. I also feel like Frodo might be doing it in small part for Sam--relieving him of the duty of watching over Frodo, and giving him permission to move forward (“you cannot always be torn in two”).

Kate

A few things to consider regarding context. You can think about the effect of the Ring on Frodo, especially in this third movie, like a powerful addiction. I’m pretty sure the actor who played Frodo said that he played it like that. I think that helps it makes sense when he does things like letting Gollum make him suspicious of Sam. There were a couple of times when you guys were incredulous that Frodo would ever distrust Sam. But if you look at it from the paranoid perspective of an addiction I think it seems more plausible. And in the end when Frodo is so damaged he has to leave, I think it is understandable through the lens of PTSD. The author of this story was greatly affected by his personal experience with WWI. He lost several close boyhood friends in the war and saw the tremendous physical and emotional toil on his generation. His experiences with both the glory and horror of war come through in his stories. I love the moment when the hobbits are back home having a drink together at the Green Dragon. All the other hobbits around them are oblivious to what they had been through. But you can see through their expressions as they toast each other, that they understand how much they have been changed by their experiences. Frodo will finally be able to heal in the Undying Lands. That beautiful smile he has on his face when he is boarding the ship and turns back for one last look at his friends says so much. I’m sure other people have already mentioned it, but I still want to share that George R.R. Martin named Samwell Tarly after Samwise Gamgee. I wanted to mention that after you watched the first movie, but I was afraid it might give too much of a hint about the role his character would play in the story. There is so much beautiful dialogue in this trilogy, and this is directed related to Tolkien’s beautiful storytelling. He love for epic, heroic tales, which he spent much of his scholarly work on, shines through. He had a strong belief that these stories played an important role in people’s lives. You were commenting at the end about the beautiful thing Gandalf tells Pippin about death. I highly recommend that you listen to the song at the end of Return of the King. The lyrics expand on this. It is “Into the West”, sung by Anne Lennox. Each movie ended with an original song. But that one is definitely my favorite. The credits at the end of the final film also go on for quite some time, and they are filled with beautiful original artwork by the Tolkien artists who worked on the film. Since you guys enjoyed the season extras for Game of Thrones, you might consider covering the extras that were included on the extended version DVDs when they were released. And there are some great YouTube channels that cover Lord of the Rings lore, that would give you more understanding about the universe without reading the books. The two channels that I would recommend are Nerd of the Rings and In Deep Geek. In Deep Geek also covers GOT/ASOIAF.

Blackeyedlily

Yesss been pumped for this

trent sutton

Yes these movies mean so much to me, they are my childhood and they're the reason I love fantasy so much. Also yes I love Gollum so much as well, he's one of my faves and i'm so sorry for him but my number 1 character is and will always be Sam!

martatiny

This is why Gollum still had such an important role to play, as Gandalf in the first movie suggested that he would have. His role was critical for the actual destruction of the ring.

Blackeyedlily

That is a good explanation about the death of the Witch King. Another related detail that the movie doesn’t explain well is the effect on Eowyn and Merry from their contact with the Witch King. Spartan and Pudgey actually pickup on it somewhat by thinking that Eowyn and Merry were suffering from a sort of corruption from the Witch King. The Nazgûl impacted people with what is called the Black Breath. Even if you were just exposed to them for a period of time, you could suffer from a serious depression and associated physical maladies. By actually stabbing the Witch King, Merry and Eowyn were seriously effected by that contact. Aragorn had the knowledge to treat this condition because of his education from the Elves. Plus the King of Gondor was traditionally someone who was gifted in healing. Tolkien took that from old superstitions about Kings having healing powers.

Blackeyedlily

No sleep, totally worth it. Great to rewatch this trilogy with you guys. Tears every time. Theoden went out like a freaking boss.

Riolkin

Here's the quote in elvish for any other super nerds like myself: Onen i-Estel Edain, ú-chebin estel anim

Riolkin

The quote that Elrond and Aragorn say in the tent "I give hope to Men, I keep none for myself." is an indirect quote from Aragorn's mother and is written on her tombstone (the statue of the woman in Rivendell in the first film). She was hiding Aragorn's identity by calling him Estel, which means hope. She said "I gave Hope to the Dunedain, I kept none for myself." I think it's the last thing she said to Aragorn but I don't quite remember.

Riolkin

As for why Gandalf had to leave, as a wizard he is a divine being, called Maiar. They were dispatched to Middle Earth by the “gods” or “spirits” of this universe as guardians and such of middle earth. Hence after defeating the balrog he was sent back to middle earth as Saruman who had been corrupted. He finished his duty so now was his time to leave.

Eli Sullivan

GRRM has stated that he named both Sam and Pyp after Samwise and Pippen. It's not coincidence. Like most modern fantasy authors, GRRM was deeply inspired by Tolkien.

Farbod

I think we all really wanted Smeagol to pull through. A lot of endings could have happened, including Smeagol stopping Frodo and destroying the ring. But really on reflection, the part that Frodo was losing of himself was represented by Gollum and Smeagol. If all of them survived, the rings power and impact has less weight. Smeagol is one of the most interesting characters. His story is bittersweet but if he lived he’d probably die soon after with the ring destroyed. In the end he was happy for a moment just before the lava when he had his precious. What a character.

Rainbow

It's a shame they didn't do the last part of the book in the Shire but the infamous ending scenes are so good still.

Rainbow

The reason why Elves and Dwarves didn't fight at Minas Tirith or the Black Gate is because they were already fighting their own battles at home.

Martin Robertson

LOL the confusion on their faces when the eagles came! oh my goodness............. great ride guys. 3rd favorite reaction series behind GOT and Avatar TLA;

Augustine Lee

LET'S GOOOOOOO! I'm at a work conference this week; I guess i'll be late for breakfast!

Freddie Miles

Oh another thing. We actually get a glimpse of Minas Tirith during the first movie. It's where Gandalf goes to investigate about the ring. And he sees that Mordor is darkened from a distance. Obviously the first time one watches these movies, you don't realize this.

Ricky

Oh hell yes. Guess I'm not sleeping tonight, let's go!

Riolkin

Two things: 1. In the first movie, Gandalf talks to the moth and the moth brings an Eagle to save Gandalf. You probably didn't remember. In this movie, the moth showed up again, showing it came with more eagles to Gandalf's aid again. They didn't show up out of nowhere. 2. The movie doesn't explain very well how Merry and Eowyn defeated the Witch King (the leader of the Nazgul). There is a prophecy about the Witch King, not being able to be killed. During the events of the first book, Merry acquires sort of an enchanted dagger from a certain character. However these events are not shown in the first movie (mainly because it would've probably deviated too much for the casual audience). So with this dagger, Merry breaks whatever spell makes the Witch King impossible to kill, and Eowyn lands the final blow. The movie sort of makes it seem that since Merry is a Hobbit, and Eowyn is a woman, they could kill him. But this isn't really the case.

Ricky

One thing that you may not understand by just watching the movie is that no one could have thrown the ring, no one could have gone against the ring enough to destroy it. For example if Sam wanted to push Gollum down with the ring he would not be able to. It was basically an act of god that had Gollum trip. Think on how Gandalf and Galadriel wouldn't even touch the ring.

Joan Diaz

Bilbo "wrote" the Hobbit, Frodo "wrote" the Lord of the Rings.

J_Fley .

He didn't survive this long to fall off a cliff. I know right, that's like surviving 8 seasons and becoming a main villain then getting crushed by bricks!

Rainbow

I agree, the theatrical version was better in that regard.

John Neiberger

Sorry for commenting so many times lol. I would like to add to your point that the Elves and Dwarves weren't there fighting at the end. It makes sense that they couldn't fit it into the movie, but Elves and Dwarves actually were fighting the orcs on another front in the north of Middle Earth in the book at the same time as the battle at Minas Tirith. Last thought. I hope you guys do a Q&A session for this trilogy, I have a lot of questions I would ask about your thoughts on it.

The Door

Amazing reaction! Really glad I joined your Patreon for this, and I think I’ll stick around and do a Breaking Bad rewatch with you! I’m sure lots will give you deep lore context on your questions, but at the end Frodo left, as the wound from getting stabbed would never heal, and he would always have a longing for the ring as is shown by Bilbo still asking for it at the end, where they are going he will no longer feel that heaviness from the ring, or the pain from the wound. I know you were a little let down by Gollum, that is an effect of him being more focused on in the movie, a lot of the fighting between Gollum and Sméagol just isn’t in the book, you never leave Frodo or Sam’s perspective in those chapters so Gollum in them is a much more mysterious presence, like you don’t find out he’s leading them to danger, until you’re there and the brief period of Gollum being gone is purely in the movie.

Chris Illsley

The one problem I have with the extended edition is what happens after Aragorn says "What say you!?" to the King of the Dead in the released version we saw in the cinema. Then they cut away from them until they arrive on the ships at the end of the battle. No answer given. You forgot about them in the heat of the movie. Yes the set piece of the skulls is cool (and also in the game! What a level that was!), but I liked the fact you forgot about them/never got an answer until you see the result.

Rainbow

If you guys like reading I would highly encourage you to read the other books in Tolkien's world. The Silmarillion is the most beautiful book I've ever read and it includes so many epic stories of the first age. It really gets a bad rap as being hard to read, but once you get through the history text-style chapters of pure world building, it is so worth it. Beren and Luthien, Turin, The Fall of Gondolin, the rise and fall of Numenor, all amazing stories. I wish I could sit down with you guys and tell it all to you guys and anyone who would listen.

The Door

I think you should watch the Hobbit films. They are nowhere near as good as this trilogy, but it is worth it to see Bilbo's story.

The Door

This is one of two movies in existence that makes me cry every time I see it. The scene where Aragorn and everyone bows to the Hobbits always has me bawling.

The Door

This one couldn’t have come at a better time. I definitely need the distraction. Tomorrow is the second anniversary of the loss of my boys’ father. He passed away 2 years ago tomorrow from Covid. It’s going to be a hard day but this brings comfort.

KatDorroughMusic

Interestingly, in the books Saruman has a whole separate section. The non extended edition doesn't include his fate as well. Which almost hints at the fact in the books it's different. Also Christopher Lee, the boss he was, had to tell the director how a man actually reacted to getting stabbed, cause he knew from his past. I think he's the only one to have met Tolkien from the cast?

Rainbow

Just to clarify some stuff about them leaving at the end; Galadriel, Elrond and Gandalf bore the 3 elven rings of power (yes, Gandalf had one of the Elven rings even though he wasn't an Elf) - Celeborn, the other Elf you see at the end, is Galadriels Husband. It's also probably been stated but Gandalf is essentially a "Lesser Angel" in this world, hence why he was able to be reborn, Gandalf is simply the mortal/human form he took in Middle-Earth. You are right, all the ringbearers were granted a place in the undying lands - which is why Bilbo went, and why Frodo was also granted a place, it's not really stated, but the wound that Frodo sustained from the Witch-King is a lot more severe than it's made to be, even with the Witch-King gone, the evil is still there, and essentially Frodo is going to be properly looked after and have the wound properly attended to. Following Aragorns death much later, Gimli and Legolas also take a boat to the Undying Lands, Gimli is granted a place for his role in the fellowship. More or less all Elves are granted passage to the Undying Lands.
