He is by FAR the dumbest king to ever rule who’s stupidity can only be excused by the fact that GRRM needed the Dance to occur. Therefore requiring the monarch to be blind to what was obvious to the rest of the realm.

2023-07-13 05:45:17 +0000 UTCimo aegon ii as well. i think it’s just every even numbered aegon sucks for some reason. like aegon i is okay, aegon iii is okay, and aegon v (egg) is one of my favorite targs. but those three are definitely stand out awful kings. i would add baelor the blessed as well but that’s bc i have a bias against the faith of the seven. 😭

He was indecisive, ineffective and foolish at times, but he was not a tyrant and generally tried to maintain peace, prosperity and not abuse his power. Even though he fell (sometimes tragically) short at times, the intentions were there. "King Viserys's generosity was legendary, and the Red Keep became a place of song and splendor during his reign. He hosted countless balls, feasts, and tournaments, and he lavished gold and offices and honors among those he favored. Viserys was well loved by lords and smallfolk alike."
