Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring UNCUT Reaction

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (EXTENDED EDITION) UNCUT Reaction

Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

We hope you enjoy the video!

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring UNCUT Reaction

Comments

Yeah the behind the scenes content is truly inspiring. Some of the BEST behind the scenes material you'll ever see

Garrett Serbin

Yeah agreed, extended is the only way to go once you see them. Makes the stories even better for literally EVERY character.

Garrett Serbin

My all time favorite movies. Got me through some rough times & shaped my childhood. Plus they are even better on re-watches given the amount of material & story.

Garrett Serbin

No haha. Though I see the resemblance

will

No, the extended cut is truly the only way to watch these films. There is SO much more that isn't even in the extended so it is truly worth it. I don't even know what the theatrical versions look like anymore lol

will

Gotta pump those numbers up lol. Yeah, truly fantastical films / trilogy. I've seen them maybe 50+ times and love watching reactions. It's hilarious how much extra stuff there is beyond the films (not just lore, but behind the scenes as well). Cheers mate

will

Had to put this in there even if someone else did. The fight with Aragorn and the big bad Uruk-kai (Lurtz, they never say his name, but thats it), when he "saves" Boromir. The scene where he throws the dagger at Aragorn and he bats it away with his sword. The Lurtz actor accidentally threw the very real dagger right at Viggo and Viggo actually hit the dagger away with the sword. A true marvel in filming which was a total accident (and could've been horrendous), but made for one of the best fighting moments of the film and / or trilogy. I bought your patron just to watch these films with yall. I love your enjoyment and involvement with the film as it goes on. I can't wait to wait the rest with you. Cheers.

will

The lay of Luthien is a similar story (to Aragorn and Arwen) but in the first age of middle earth (many thousands of years before the lord of the rings, which is taking part in the third age). Luthien was an elf princess that fell in love with a man, Beren, and they are basically the forefathers of Elrond and Aragorn.

Nirre

Yeah all of us in N.Europe are so cheated on these streaming sites on content. Finland have the same problem.

Thamor

I share the love both of you had for the character Gandalf. Ian McKellan was an excellent choice for the role. Besides his work in popular films he has a strong background in Shakespeare. I believe that is one of the reasons he has such a wonderful voice, and is able to deliver that great dialogue so masterfully. I particularly love Gandalf’s quote, “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” It is a quote I have used many times in discussions with my children over the years. I hope you guys realized that Galadriel was being tested when Frodo offered her the Ring. She even said “I have passed the test” after her little dark moment. She was one of the oldest elves still in Middle Earth at that time. And her Ring of Adamant helped to preserve the realm she ruled and keep it from decay. One of the reasons Gimli fell for her was that she was empathetic with him about what had happened in the Mines of Moria, even though there had been bad blood between the Elves and the Dwarves. Her gifting him the three strands of her hair was another way of reaching beyond the bad blood between their races. Someone else will probably go into this in more detail, but it is an important story in her past when she refused the same request from a very powerful and gifted elf who wanted her hair to help him create these special jewels. She turned him down because she saw his arrogance and pridefulness. So granting the gift to Gimli was extra special. I also really enjoy some of the subtle reactions that Legolas has throughout this movie which make more sense to people who know the Lord of the Rings lore. For example, when Gandalf identifies the Balrog, Legolas looks absolutely terrified. This is because the elves fought Balrogs in ancient battles that he would know about. He understood better than the others what they were up against. He also has a knowing smile on his face when Gimli tells him about Galadriel’s gift, as again he would know the history behind that. And while elves can be killed in battle, death is still a rare occurrence for them in general. Legolas looks utterly confused after Gandalf fell and he has such a poignant and wistful expression when he comes across Aragorn with the dying Boromir. I just think they did a great job of communicating so much through Legolas’ expressions and reactions, including the little detail of how he could walk on top of the snow while the others struggled to get through it. And that is straight out of the book. There is so much more that I could go on and on about regarding these very favorite movies of mine. But I will end this by saying that you two are right about the amazing soundtrack. I would recommend checking out the behind the scenes videos which include one for each movie about the soundtrack and it’s creator Howard Shore. His themes for the various races, cultures, characters and special moments are perfect.

Blackeyedlily

are all your uncut reactions made in a way that i have to own my copy of the movie in order to sync it because of the missing sound?

freedomcall

That was Walder Frey at the door right? The gatekeeper for the small town with the tavern.

Joel Quinn

This is the movie series that made fantasy movies more mainstream. I do wish you guys didn't watch the extended cut since it makes it messes up the pace but either way it was very enjoyable.

Mbee

FUCK YESSS LETS GO THIS IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE ALONG WITH THE DARK KNIGHT LETS GOOOO. Please continue these movies series. Watch the Dark Knight if you havent

Eshwar Tangirala

Wow, my stupid internet cut out right at the scene where Gandalf falls in Moria, leaving the spinning circle of death right over the face you guys made as he fell. Great reaction, can't wait to see the second one with you guys

Riolkin

Finally watched the reaction. That was so enjoyable! I've seen this film maybe 25 times (I think 5 times in a theater) and yet its still amazing to watch it through the eyes of someone who hasn't seen it. Can't wait until the next one.

Farbod

LOVE LOTR :D

Greydon Iselmoe

Im late with watching this, but it was incredible!!

Michael

Yeah, I'm swedish and it's the same, so i'm using SF Anytime and not HBO.

ZenraK

Is this a country thing, cus I can not see the extended from HBO, they are not having it as an option in Norway anymore.

Morten Stenseth

My issue has been basically "fixed", and no, I am watching the extended edition, the scenes are all the same it's just getting more and more delayed, The most likely reason is that hbo probably has their series and movies coded in some different way than other streaming platforms. I used a chrome add-on to set specific youtube speed on the video, and that basically "fixed" it. Thank you for answering though.

ZenraK

HI my frined, i asume it is because you are watching the normal version and they are watching the extended one? The diffrences in the movie ar so small it adds up a bit here and there i guess?

Morten Stenseth

And also you can where he got the idea for Jon Snow. Aragorn

Cjay_92

I honestly don't know why that happens but it has happened to me once before a while back. I don't know if it'll help or not but there is something you can download for extensions next to the search bar. I know there's one called HBO max speeder: adjust playback. Maybe try that in the future, I hope that helps.

Marcus Carter

I don't know if it's just me, but when I'm watching along, my video gets ahead of theirs, or theirs is slower for some reason, which causes a delay, which only get bigger and bigger as time goes on. Don't know if it's because I'm watching on a different streaming service than them or something else. Any help is appreciated.

ZenraK

cant wait to watch the 2 towers!!

Michael Doyle

Amazing reaction! Finally finished it. Boromir is my favourite character in LOTR, one of them. Can't wait for the second movie, I know that you will love it for sure. The Hobbits movies aren't bad, and there is also a The Rings of Power tv show that came out last year that I think you'd enjoy. It's funny because it came out at the same time as House of the Dragon, which is more or less based on "notes" from a (fake) history book, and The Rings of Power is also more or less based on notes, there no novel that is used as base like with LOTR or GOT.

Lise

I got so happy to watch this again viewing it "with" somebody who has not seen it. I have cried and gotten goosebumps several time, I always do. This trilogy is the best things ever made for television. It never gets old.

Abby

Love this journey for you! I am so happy you are watching Lord of the Rings after Game of Thrones. George RR Martin was very inspired by the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings for his Song of Ice and Fire Series (Samey from GOT? named after Samwise from Lord of the Rings). I grew up having the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings read to me, and when they came out in theatres, I went every single opening night. Lord of the Rings is heavily inspired by Tolkien's experiences as a solider during the First World War. His service took a very heavy personal toll on him, and he was very anti-war for his time. He was also a professor at Oxford University where he taught and studied languages, as you probably noticed in the movie there were a few different languages being spoken. That is because he wrote and made up all of these languages for his works. I am very happy you enjoyed the first movie! I have never personally seen Spartan get this emotional about a movie/show but I do love this movie and book series for normalizing men being upset/crying/being emotional as well as healthy male friendships.

Karli Mac

Fantastic reaction. As this is one of my all time favourite film collections I loved watching this with you for the first time! Look forward to the next two movies!

Jeff Stohlstrom

So glad your watching the extended editions too. Started watching this at midnight with you guys.. had to stay up and finish watching, each time a scene came on like 'oh I have to see them see this scene, after this I'll pause it, oh wait after the next scene..' until I had watched it all... :D can't wait to continue the journey!

Anthony Brown

Just joined for this alone please do the next one as soon as possible! Also I can't wait for you guys to start Breaking Bad after GoT is over.

Ersin Günay

We need the second one immediately !!

Terrance Lucas

Gollum, but I can't do Edd dirty like that =)

Rainbow

My brother, my captain, my king! I have always loved Boromir, he is such a complex character. And of course it being Sean Bean playing him is icing on the cake.

Ghostcat

There's no one in LOTR quite as consistently miserable and pessimistic as Edd.

Martin Robertson

I would not recommend doing the hobbit movies right after the lord of the rings trilogy. Would love y’all to cover Star Wars!

Kotlan

Best movies. There is no better movies ever made than lotr trilogy.

Tomy

So happy you guys are watching these! My favourite movie/book series of all time, I'm seriously obsessed since I found it as a child 10-15years ago lol. Can't wait for you guys to inevitable fall in love also. Even though the first one is 10/10, the movies just somehow keep getting better and better also. Can't wait to continue the journey! Laughed out loud when spartan knew there was a meme coming. There will be more to enjoy! So many 'aahh thats where thats from'... <3 OH and the story that aragorn was reading was a story of Beren and Luthien which is a story in the far past, about the first man - elf relationship (this is a full story written by tolkien available to read, highly recommend) and it mimics a lot of what Aragorn/Arwens storyline becomes, with a lot more incredible lore.

Anthony Brown

Hi. I love your reactions. You can see how all other fantasy stories, have been inspired by LOTR. (The Godfather of all fantasies) GOT Author, George R.R Martin, said he was shocked when Gandalf died so early in LOTR. Being one of the main characters. That it inspired his to do the same thing with Ned Stark. One of his main characters in GOT. The writing in LOTR is magnificent. Tolkien you Legend. 👍

The Rhymester

IDK if u noticed but Hobbits have hairy feet, it is a physical trait of their species so they are not mangled lol

MrMoleHole

I totally understand feeling overwhelmed by all the lore they threw at you in that movie. There are so many references and characters from the 1st and 2nd age that is really is unreasonable for people who haven't read the books to understand. It is such a deep and full fantasy world and I would really encourage you to either read the books or watch some lore videos. I would love to try to explain it all here but it would take ages lol. If you can't tell already movies and the whole Tolkien world are my favorite and I have learned just about everything you can about this world. Your reaction was great and I can't wait for you to see the next two movies. It only gets better from here!

The Door

I can’t do the pirates of the Caribbean. Lol I’ve just never been able to get into them. I’m definitely not saying that ROTK was at all ruined. It’s fantastic, story, pacing, acting, script, costume and set design. But there were choices made to take the edge out of the violence in battle and the standoff at the gate of Mordor takes me out of the fantasy of the world…also cgi people added into crowd scenes that again look off enough to remind you it’s a movie. I don’t want to be thinking about effects or cgi while watching. Once I’m at that point the spell is broken so those moments are tough for me to watch, but by no means does it ruin the movie for me. It deserved every award it received and all the nominations, as well. But the main criticism I have with the world of Tolkien is the way too stark contrast between dark and light characters. With TLOTR there are almost no grey characters which is just humanity. It’s where GRRM got things right. No one is all evil and no one is all good. The Peter Jackson films made sacrifices to ensure the movies were all relatively family friendly and that hurts the realism for all the battle stuff. The only real bloody battle scenes are with make believe orcs being killed. I guess that was the only acceptable exception to the glossed over battles. I just kind of resent that. They don’t have to be kid friendly. It wasn’t necessary. It’s ok to not bring you kids to these.

KatDorroughMusic

Great movie choice. I highly recommend watching the the other two LOTR movies and the Hobbit movies as well :)

Konrad Siggelkow

Frodo, Sam, Pippin, Merry... Jon, Sam, Pyp, Grenn ( +Edd, my favourite X( )

Rainbow

why would you ruin something so perfect.

Rainbow

We even had pirates of the Caribbean too. Our generation got all the amazing blockbusters...

Rainbow

This is the GREAT fantasy film, based on the GREAT fantasy books that inspired the rest... Although I should note RotK is my most fav movie of all time XD. The orcs are still not cgi in that. I didn't really think the cgi ruined RotK. But the hobbit it's jarring... plus the fact they extended those films unnecessarily.

Rainbow

If Sam had fallen into the river like in game of thrones - he could be wearing full armour after charging a dragon... then get pulled out and then somehow evade being captured by an entire army and walk to the capital city.

Rainbow

That was awesome, definitely keep going with this series

Brandon Pearce

Yes that'd be amazing

Lise

You guys are hilarious. Specially when spartan gets frustrated.

Sona E

yessss!!

T-baby

Best Trilogy ever

Christian

I didn't see LotR until 2009. I literally thought, that sounds dumb as fuck. I'm not watching that nerdy shit. Then saw Fellowship for like $5 at walmart and was like, ah what the hell. Loved it. Borrowed the two towers from my roommate, then went back and bought return of the king. On a side note, the first Hobbit movie is pretty decent, but it descends into shit real quick after that. And honestly, if you're looking for "backstory" I think you'd get most of what you're looking for from the first one.

J_Fley .

Crazy that Spartan a true warrior has never seen the my brother my captain my king scene. Honestly one of my favorite line deliveries in all of cinema rip Boromir

Chris Button

What a wonderful surprise! Amazing reaction to Fellowship Of The Ring. I love LOTR series so much. Can’t wait to continue watching along with movies 2 & 3 with you guys. I hope you do The Hobbit as well.

Jamie

we'll have our edited reactions our soon which will be more time friendly!

CpaSpartan Pudgey

I don't think they deserve that kind of punishment.

SuddenImpulse

You guys are going to LOVE these movies!

Brad Johnson

Yea I’d say watch the hobbit movies. They ain’t as great as this trilogy but they’re still a good time, and it’ll give you more of the lore within this universe.

ewww why

Sasha

Great reaction. This Movie is a 10/10. And it keeps getting better. Will you react to the Hobbit movies as well? They are no masterpieces like original trilogy, but are still far from the disaster many people claim they are.

DrückebergerTV

please watch Rings of Power after this.

SnorlaX

Not me involuntary squealing when seeing this post 😂

Petteri Ahlberg

The way they end this film, with the departure of Boromir and the fracturing of the Fellowship, is just masterful. The heroic sacrifice of everybody, especially with Boromir in an act of redemption at the very end gets me EVERY time. It's amazing how, as time marches forward, this trilogy ages like fine wine.

Andrew Woroniecki

This is so true. The reason this and the two towers holds up so well was that they relied heavily on practical effects and makeup. Unfortunately the return of the king doesn’t and begins to rely far too heavily on CGI. The irony being that the return of the king of the 3 films is the one that was nominated for like all of the Oscars! Story wise the return of the king is epic and sweeping but I don’t think the effects hold up as well at all. I still love it because of everything else but the effects make me a bit sad. Peter Jackson definitely gets a bit too trigger happy with the CGI. But that being said, the breakthroughs that were made with the brand new emerging CGI technology were literally invented by Jackson’s team specifically to make these films. So every film and series, game of thrones included, that came after the return of the king exist solely because of the vision and innovation of the LOTR team.

KatDorroughMusic

Loved it!! I have always been a fan of these movies and I can’t wait to see more with you.

Malorie

unlike the hobbit (the prequel), most of the special effects are just real places and people in make up. This film holds up so well. I was eight when it first came out in cinemas, and it changed my tiny world. With that and harry potter we were truly blessed.

Rainbow

Having short pauses for discussions is nice. I love LotR but finding 4h to rewatch them in one sitting can be a bit challenging these days.

Lychee

I think you say Boromir with a rolling r, not a round one :) Like we do here in Norway! :) The boats don`t flip btw, they are Elvish, Pudgey would have gotten Sam from that water without flipping it. The story of Frodos uncle Bilbo is described in the book/movie THE Hobbit. I am now 45 years old and I actually read this book at age off 11 and I think i read it about 10 times at least :) The book is higly recomended to read even if you have seen the movie, as long as the movie are there are much more in the book being told. Nice reaction, I am looking forward to the next one. You guys should really pull up a map over middle earth, just to have a feeling about where they have walksed so far and where everyone is = Gondor, Sauroman, /Mt doom/Saron, Moria, Rivendel, Galadriel etc.

Morten Stenseth

I am so here for u continuing this trilogy! This was AWESOME!

MrMoleHole

Totally, I'm not saying no one should watch The Hobbit movies. Even as movies, though, I don't think they're anywhere near as good as these ones. I just think the book is a better and maybe even quicker way to fill in the immediate background.

Kate

When Pudgey referred to Frodo and his friends as “kids” Spartan goes “Omg they’re not kids….they were drinking beer and smoking weed.” 😂🤣 Gandalf’s death gets me every time. That’s probably only the 2nd or 3rd time I’ve seen Spartan get teary eyed. The writing and acting is so good that you feel very attached to these characters right away.

Joseph

Lets go ive been waiting so long for this loving your reactions half way through now... Strider is my namesake! Also Beren and Luthian were a man and elf couple from way back in the day. Aragorn and Arwen's relationship is very similar... very few instances in history that elves and humans love eachother.

Stryder Garvey

omg do I want to watch LOTR trilogy for the 100th time? its tempting

SuperDuprEgg

I'd watch reactions to the extended Hobbit trilogy. It strays a bit from what makes LotR so good but if you can handle the shortcomings of Game of Thrones S8, The Hobbit will be a walk in the park. Lots of things to like about it IMO

Frenzy

Fuck. Yes.

Jakob Schaefer

at halfway point the journey is only beginning. The music is so epic omg. Btw Galadriel is the narrator in the beginning of the movie.

Alex

Ugh same! 100% I sob every single time…it’s kind of ridiculous, really. Lol

KatDorroughMusic

What a fantastic surprise!! I'm so glad you're watching these. They're absolute classics, and the of course the books almost single-handedly created this genre. And, yes, the death of Boromir is a gut punch. I tear up every time I see it, and I've probably seen it 20 times by now.

John Neiberger

Anyone else find it impossible to not hop into the two towers immediately or do you guys have better impulse control? Lol I’ve seen these movies probably at least 30 times, and that’s a low estimate. Haha I grew up on the books. My parents read them to us when we were really really young. They decided not to have a tv for a while until we were 12 so we read them over and over and listened to the Mind’s Eye radio broadcast recordings on cassettes every time we were home sick from school. The takes, the books, and the movies are like chicken soup for me. I’ve had long Covid since early March 2020 and on the really bad days it’s still the best medicine. So I’m jumping back in. 😅 (zero impulse control)

KatDorroughMusic

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! so the ball is like facetime. there are several balls around the world and they don't know where all of them are so anyone can be watching. the mirror was different.

Nathan

*sees an orc* Spartan to Pudgey: that’s what you look like in the morning. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Mel

You're right! My bad!

Nenny

ditto to all of this!

Punjathon

I'm so happy you're doing this and that you enjoyed it!

Punjathon

Elrond's great - grandparents.

Martin Robertson

LOTR is essentially the founding story of the entire genre of fantasy, that's why you keep being reminded of story elements, you would be hard pressed to find a piece of fantasy that hasn't drawn some inspiration from it

Sarah

So a quick explanation, because it's never referenced again in the movies and you were confused. The song Aragorn was singing in the marsh was an old story he felt connected to because of his relationship with Arwen. Fun fact, the two lovers in the story are actually Elrond's great grand parents. Elrond was born a twin and because they were "half elven" they were given a choice, to be immortal or mortal. Elrond chose immortality, but his brother didn't and that brothers family line goes down to Aragorn himself. Which, outside of safety, was the reason Aragorn's mother sent him to Rivendell as a child, because he was distantly, and I do mean DISTANTLY, related to Elrond.

Nenny

i think the movie is great for people who are open minded going into them, as long as you dont compare the movies to the books they are still great movies on their own.

Chrisiyyi

if you think first one is great, dont worry, it only gets better. Hobbit movies are good, just not as good as the lord of the rings, but to be honest, its pretty much a impossible task to be. If you ask some people, they hate them for them not being book accurate etc. alot of people who are no tolkien fanatics love the hobbit movies and i think you guys after this journey would love them too. Also i cannot wait for the next movie drop, ive watched these so many times but now i am rewatching it with you guys. Thank you for giving me another experience of this journy! Its good to see that you guys notice how powerfull the ring is, keep that in mind, alot of reactors forget how much it twists peoples mind its basically a drug on steroids.

Chrisiyyi

Be sure to read the comments in these reactions (after spoilers are secured) for people explaining the things you guys missed. There's a lot of lore and details that you will probably have missed.

Ricky

Did not expect to find myself rewatching this today (and dropping everything to do so) for the first time in many years! I was obsessed with these movies as a kid and into my teen years. I haven't watched them for so long because I was worried they would look distractingly dated, or they just wouldn't be as good as I remembered. Also, my partner kinda hates them. 😂 I've never watched reactors before except for Burlington Bar GoT, but you guys are the best for vicariously seeing things through fresh eyes. Absolutely loved viewing this and can't wait for the next ones. GoT never really makes me cry for some reason, but I cried more than Pudgy! Thank you for reigniting my love of these. 😊 The Lord of the Rings (the book) is the foundation of all modern fantasy, and the movies are also influential. You've got to finish the trilogy! I would recommend reading The Hobbit for background. It's a quick read, and the film version is unfortunately not up to the standard of these films.

Kate

They are an amazing journey, and I always recommend them to everyone who hasn't seen them ❤️

Ricky

George RR Martin is a huge fan of Tolkien and his work is heavily influenced by LOTR. I've always thought Sam Tarly is somewhat inspired in Sam Gamy, I find a lot of similarities between the two characters

Mar

LETS GOOOO

Alex

I have never seen this movie, and have always wanted too. Now this is the PERFECT way to watch them, I’m so excited to experience these new shows and movies with you guys now

Amber Mary

Oh this is amazing!! My favourite films!! Watched at least annually. I need to carve out time to sit down and watch this uncut. I hope you enjoy the journey.

Victoria E (vickster5001)

OMG I had NO idea ya'll were gonna react to this?! I will have to put this on after work. I believe you guys will LOVE it. This trilogy is literally a book definition of EPIC!

Eddie House

They are trying to figure out how to record stuff from their living room I believe. There is some technical hurdles I think. Don't know all the details. But yes I agree, its much more comfortable for movies when you have a big tv creen and couch.

SuddenImpulse

Yessssss, ever since I heard you say you’d never seen this, i thought you couldn’t pass this up as a reaction! Didn’t expect it so soon :).

Rainbow

thanks Dan! we hope you enjoy this one! 🙏🏼❤️

CpaSpartan Pudgey

I found you guys whilst working night shifts and watched all your GoT reactions from Season 1 Episode 1 and you guys are one of my favourite reaction channels (and i've seen aloooooot of different channel) Love your reaction to one of my favourite franchises of all time! <3

Dan Tydeman

LETS GOOOO. I'll take the pleasure of requesting these movies since the beginning of their first GoT Reactions 🤣 I usually don't watch uncut reactions, but for this I'll make an exception ❤️

Ricky

Our mod team is the Nights Watch. The night is dark and full of spoilers. We are the shield that guards the realms of men! =)

SuddenImpulse

You guys need to get a comfy couch for these long ass movies. Lmao

Josh

A LITERAL DREAM COME TRUE♥️♥️😩💪🏾😤

faika hammoud

What a brilliant surprise omg! Thanks guys. I’m guessing this is the normal edition and not the extended?

Invisigoth99

Sweet! Is this the regular or extended version?!

KatDorroughMusic

What a treat! Love these movies 😍❤
