fire doesnt work on the night king...so she doesnt try to use drogon to just ,ike....snap him in half with a simple bite

Mark Laniel

It’s toxic how much Spartan sees Spartan warriors as top tier. Let the alpha male obsession go. There are dozens of Native American tribes that fought twice as hard with no armor.

Salvador

Great reactions from Pudgey. I was expecting all those tears. After the episode ended, I realized I was exhausted. I probably didn't move the next hour. The music probably was trying to control our hears with that insane beat that mimicked heartbeats. About all the White Walkers not doing that much: there were hints that they were being protected by all the Wights. They knew that by dying they will harm their army. When reaching Bran, they had the place surrounded. Arya moved so fast (moving the hair from that White Walker) that gave no chance to anybody to do anything. Jorah's defense of Daenerys was impressive. He was wounded multiple times. Some reactors were under the impression that the deaths were being resurrected automatically. That never happened. The Night King did it twice on 2 episodes. I appreciate that nobody could predict Arya was going to be the hero and how was she going to do it. Many thought Jon was going to be the one. Or the dragons. Or the Dothraki or Brienne. I like when I can't imagine what is going to happened next.

Fernando F.

That episode was trash, not trying to be mean, but you could barely see it because of how dark it was, the “charge at them” battle strategy was ridiculous, at no point in any war do the people defending needlessly rush out to attack an enemy they can’t even see. You’re in defense, you’re not the aggressor. They completely ruined 7 seasons of build up between Jon and the night king for “shock” value of having Arya do it. Dan and Dave absolutely ruined one of the best shows of all time, up until the last few seasons, especially season 8.

sam should have died....Robb and better men than sam have died. also sorry bran, but Robb would tell you otherwise in regards to theon being a good man., Good episode, but the walkers should have gotten some action and I have no idea how many dothraki dany has lol, but that's for another day. Music and tension etc was on point. I'm actually fine with how the Night King went out too, but I wanted more background. I literally thiught Bran would warg a dragon or something. "you will fly"

Mark Laniel

Glad you guys liked it but this episode was for me when i knew i was going to be dissapointed lol. Cant believe the long night and winter is coming for 8 seasons all led to 1 night only to be ended by an arya ambush. Fully expected the white walkers to atleast have one win at winterfell and make it further south to kings landing. And brans warging led to literally nothing that was so weird. Not saying jon had to kill the night king because that would be the most disney thing ever but atleast some kind of fight between them would have been a good payoff.

And to spartan and pudgey, this is why people are truly upset, its hard to see it when ur kind of binge watching the episodes and didnt start from when the show actually started, and watched it on a weekly/yearly basis. If u guys didnt have all the episodes ready to be watched and had to wait like most poeple keeping up with the show at tht time, youd see how right after season 5 or season 4, the cleverness of the dialouge falls off a cliff, and it just becomes so much dumber cuz the producers no longer have books to base the story on and pull scripts from, cuz GRRM didnt and still hasnt finished the books . And yes this means that when the books are done theres probably a completely different ending to the one on the show.

Amr Basri

For all the ones tht thated this episode, i think part of the blame should be shifted to GRRM for not finishing the books in time. Im not tht mad though it was decent and a thrill to watch, but of course some things could have been better

Amr Basri

It's nice watching it back with S&P too. It took away some of the negativity I was expecting to feel when rewatching for the first time. It's still a terrible episode/season in terms of logic and maybe they will see that in time but damn I'm glad they enjoyed it.

Roma

It's objectively terrible and the reason why GoT the main series faded into irrelevancy. Not really hating if that's my genuine opinion/fact (the majority disliked it) . I mean I pay money to watch S&P and I love their enjoyment of it but that doesn't mean people can't say why they think is bad.

Roma

I agree :) I’m grateful for that

Gummybear

Now you know why we crazies pay to watch this lol love it!

Rowena

Can we talk about the sound and music design of this episode? It was fucking crazy good. I'm just glad S&P are sticking to their own feelings and forming their own opinions. I understand a lot of the criticism, but I pretty much disagree with all of it, and think this was a perfect capping! Folks who truly hate season 8: maybe if you're still this affected by it, take a break? Take care of yourselves

MattyK

Yeah it’s like nobody cares you’re a wannabe internet critic. If somebody comes up to me all passionate about something they’re enjoying I’m not going to rub what I think are flaws in their face and being a total buzzkill. Just let them enjoy it people lol

Dylon

People cant stand others enjoying thing they don't. I get people having opinions but it goes beyond that. Idk why they hating in this episode anyway, its one of the best in the series.

Valcor

Theon best character arc

MattyK

man u guys forgot to mention the watchers on the wall battle. Prob the best battle in the entire show.

Alex

Because full reactions are in watch along format you need to sync your own copy

Ella

I suggest you watch the video of D&D talking about why they had Arya do it. It was their choice and according to them, they did it to subvert expectations. Also look up GRRM talking about his lack of involvement in the show for years.

Raven Sub

Is there a reason why the screen is cut in half and we can’t see it?

Agreed I hated the rushed season and how it felt but I also absolutely went crazy for this all out war of an episode

Eagle Myles

Yeah I really enjoyed this episode myself too.. there’s always that desire for the showdown between Jon and the Night King but he did what Ramsay did .. ran from Jon .. so it’s like I feel it worked and having Arya come in clutch was epic.. I’m not a fan of season 8 simply because it felt rushed (and was) but this was too epic aa to how it was executed to not enjoy it regardless of other plot issues

Eagle Myles

If you doubt it then what was it then? Knowing that Melisandre was framed as someone who can see the future. Arya is one of the most pivotal characters in GRRMs eyes. In fact in the 1993 original outline it was supposed to be Arya and Jon not Dany. You might not like how they decided on it, but you cannot deny that this was played with GRRM’s blessing.

Flexorcist

I’m sorry, what? Foreshadowing in Season 3? You mean a vague comment about shutting blue green and brown eyes? Which can literally be anyone. and then the fact they retconned it in this episode to make it sound like she’s putting emphasis on the “blue” eyes. There was no “foreshadowing” for this. I also highly doubt it’s Martins plan

Sean van Hengel

Worst season and one of the worst overall plot endings in cinema/tv history, but I'll be damned if I didn't say that this was still one of the most iconic moments in all of television. I jumped out of my chair and scared my 6'4 260 pound dad during this episode. I have yet to watch anything else that made me react like that

Lexi Browning

ep 4!! :(

Stympler

Sure that’s fine and all but literally why? It looks like I’m reading through Reddit or something. Like I said if they weren’t feeling the episode then whatever but they loved it so it comes off pretentious. If someone came up to me all passionate about something they love I’m not rubbing the flaws in their face and being a total buzzkill. But misery loves company so if you’re one of those people you do you ig.

Dylon

Tf. Everyone can voice their opinion on why they didn’t like the episode

Rey Jr

I’ll actually remember watching this episode for the first time, forever. In my living room with my boyfriend, mom and dad. All sitting with anxiety and not talking at all lol

Betty Alice

Though I didn’t like season 8, The Long Night was amazing. It almost made my top 5 episodes. (Maybe #6 :). I love how they did the camera work. I felt what everyone was feeling, and the music was great. Also, re-watching season 8 with you guys has softened my disappointment and I’m actually enjoying it more now.

Betty Alice

I’m honestly flabbergasted at the amount of negativity on a lot of these comments. “Hey I’m so glad you loved the episode and it’s nice see the joy on your faces as it all goes down, now let me pin point every little thing I think is wrong with it so it can be ruined for you”…. If they were already hating on it I would understand, but read the room nobody cares that you’re a wannabe internet critic. Smh. Be better people

Dylon

This was GRRM’s ending otherwise the foreshadowing wouldnt have happened in S3. A show as big as this, there will always be the louder unhappy one. Majority of GOT fans still love this show in its entirety. Which is the very reason why this show propels a lot of reactors career like no other. And also the reason why HOTD broke HBO records.

Flexorcist

I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. This ep gets a lot of unfair criticism, which started when on airing it was so dark for so many of us. I've since bought a new 4K TV and the difference in what I can see it crazy. I didn't see half of that dragon battle detail on first watch, although I always thought this ep was superb television. I think a lot of us were also shocked not more people died too. i was braced for far more than this. It's also the best scoring of an episode of TV for me. The music is just incredible. I know lots hate it not being Jon who killed the Night King, but for me he did his job of uniting everyone to fight. He brought everyone together and without that they'd have all died much earlier and having Ayra kill him with the dagger was great for me. My only real gripes are why didn't Jon light the trench with his dragon?! He was sitting on the wall right next to it and I wish we'd got to see some of what Bran was watching. I suppose maybe he was seeing where Ayra was to see how much time she needed to reach him maybe, but that is a gap that annoys me a bit.

Victoria E (vickster5001)

Jon was brought back to life for a big moment still to come.

Elizabeth D.

You clearly missed the entire season where Arya train with the dead... to then kill the dead. and Jon was bought back to rally the army to fight the dead. you didn't understand any of the show it seems.

Ghostcat

The catspaw dagger strikes again, it was used to try to murder bran, now it saved him.

Ghostcat

Love your username! Lmao!! 🤣

Gypsysoul.adventureawaits

The prince or princess that was promised. From my line will come the prince that was promised. The tortured legacy of the Targaryens. Much like what was done to hodor. The Targaryens are the long term instrument used I guess by the Lord of light. How they escaped the DOOM. To the failure to remain and adhere to there legacy. Remember also who we think sat in the tree before bran.

Stannis loves grammar.

When the lord of light bought Jon back from the dead it was because he was the one to lead in the fight against the army of the dead. He was the ONLY one who could’ve gotten everyone together fighting for that one important, single cause. That was one of his destiny’s. Although I was bummed we didn’t get a one on one battle against The Night King (who knew he would punk out from fighting Jon?), I know Jon bringing all those people together was what won the fight against The Army Of The Dead and The Night King.

Virgogrl

You guys were troopers! This was a tough episode to watch. Agree with Spartan that they could’ve ended the series on that note. And as a huge Melisandre fan, her ending was just beautiful. Haha maybe I’ll get bashed, but she to me was the MVP of the episode & series when it came to this storyline. When Theon tried to apologize to Bran, but stopped him and said, “Everything you did brought you to where you are now.”, the same is true for Melisandre. Now I acknowledge that her methods were extreme, but the reason I love her so much is because when you look at her in a meta sense, she’s over 400 years old. She’s seen possibly the Doom of Valyria. She’s seen centuries of bloodshed and war. In the end though, she never wavered in her faith (besides after Stannis & Jon died). She knew her destiny was to save the world, and whatever it took to do it, she would, because as we see in the end, she was a good woman. She fought for life and won against death. ❤️‍🔥

Brent LaFlam

Arya’s big kill moment was very Eowyn/LotR. I love that (and Sam) as series tributes to the first huge fantasy series. I think the walkers held back and didn’t “do anything” because they saw last season, north of the wall, that when walker was killed all the foot soldiers tied to it also died. Them staying out of danger was the best strategy—let the masses do the killing, then resurrect the newly dead and bump your army back up. The most disappointing part of this episode was how few named characters died, for the “end of the world” battle. More die elsewhere this season for much less worthy reasons; I’m very confident you’ve probably finished the show by now and you know what I mean. The deaths here should be far more memorable, but alas. And poor Ed—he told them to burn him if he died, he always feared being brought back to kill his friends! Dany was always at her best when Jorah was with her; he was always her strength (as she tells him in the waste in S2). I always wonder if she’d still have taken Drogon to burn the Lannister army at High Garden if he’d been with her advising her, but he literally came back up from getting healed when she returned. Characters don’t talk about their grief enough in this series, but she’s going to be reeling badly from losing him, and facing PTSD from watching one of her children/dragons as an undead zombie trying to kill her this ep, all with the weight of all the men in her armies who died. Speaking of Jorah, I’m glad Lyanna M. did not listen to him last ep when he was telling her not to fight. I wonder how many lives she saved by losing hers to kill that zombie giant. When she joined up with Jon, she said something along the lines of everyone from Bear Island fights with the strength of 10 mainlanders, but in the end the Little Bear was worth at least 100. Such a pity this all happens in a world without “mental health breaks” and “group therapy sessions,” because that’s what they need desperately now.

Don’tDrinkTheLuminol

Doing things just to be unpredictable doesnt make them good.

Rick James

Jon coming back to life so his big moment could be getting Winterfell back for Sansa is anticlimactic. Arya killing the Night King was & is stupid

Rick James

3 thoughts: 1. They will host a telltale GoT Livestream, seems like the ending didnt destroy S&Ps Passion for this world... i remember how many claimed GoT Brand was ruined before HoTD aired. Wasnt true then and it isnt now. 2. Its funny to me that the "less important episode" 7x6 seems to be that much more controversial than 8x3 lol when both are clearly identical. 3. I cant wait for 8x4 reaction. This is where all cards are laid on the table... and 8x5 burns the table.

DrückebergerTV

You said jon and night king battling it out was buildup throughout the entire series... when one was first introduced in season 4 and they didnt saw each other until the end of season 5. Jon and Dany both being the prince who was promised amounted to everything by the end, more for jon than dany. Also more to bran than dany as well i would argue. You write bran was useless when he sacrificed hinself as bait and lured the night king out, became king at the end, and in my humble view saved both saviours of the World by timetraveling in season 7 and 8. You can dislike the story, thats fine. But you can not claim that you understood it and therefore judged it fairly.

DrückebergerTV

Great reaction! Love this episode, best one of S8

Phil Wu

I loved this episode and I loved that Arya was the one who killed the Night King. I know they played it up the entire series that it would be Jon, but they also did that for Arya in different ways. Syrio Forel was the first one to mention "Not today", Jaqen was preparing her to be a master assassin, and his nod of approval when she said "A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell and I'm going home" was him knowing he had prepared her for what was to come. Bran gave her the dagger because he knew. She's always had main character energy!

Maggie Jordan

I understood the story completely. You just seem to not want anyone to have a differing opinion than you but unfortunately that’s not how the world works. You should really stop being so rude to other members here … people don’t have to agree with you.

Jeff Stohlstrom

My biggest problem with the death was not even that Arya was the killer. It was how the death panned out. Very illogical that Arya can jump him without 20 white walkers around him noticing it. I mean they literally have super reflexes and strength. Also it was underwhelming that such a hyped up big villain dies so easy. All that 7 season build up for it to end in a few hours of battle, without any main characters dying

Rey Jr

Sorry I just can't watch any more of these episodes. I was done following the reactions after S7 E4. The show just became so unbelievably bad. I hope you guys can find some enjoyment in them because I sure couldn't.

The Door

This episode wasn’t perfect, it wasn’t my favorite battle. Not even my top 5 favorite episode, maybe not top 10, and that sucks, but I still enjoyed it. I also love the idea of Arya killing the night king, it makes just as much sense as Jon doing it, without the HUGE predictability factor. I would not have been satisfied with Jon 1v1ing the night king and inevitably winning, that’s boring, and that’s not what this series has ever been about or ever done. It’s greatest moments are the least predictable ones, and Arya shut a whole lot of blue eyes forever. She never had a bad ass holy sh** carried the whole battle type of moment, yet she worked SO hard to be such a badass warrior, she deserves to have a moment like that. She’s arguably the greatest living fighter at the time anyway.

Would be too obvious for it to be Jon, I loved that Arya did it, she probably is a better fighter than Jon, and obviously quieter so it made sense for it to be with the use of her quickness, agility, and ability to move like a cat (throwback to s1) she HAS been training her whole life for this moment. She just didn’t know it. Jon killed white walkers, many of them, but it was time he didn’t get carried in the last battle as he had to carry every other battle he was in.

We agree, you didnt understand the Story.

DrückebergerTV

We’ll agree to disagree.

Jeff Stohlstrom

Of course they could have gone the easy Route by giving us an disney fairytale ending... something this story was never about.

DrückebergerTV

Jon and Nightking epic duel would be out of place, out of character for this story. This isnt disney, Star wars, marvel or Harry Potter. Ice and fire united to save the realm and it worked, it was a Group accomplishment. Jon brought everyone together, Dany burned wights and got nightking off his dragon. Also the prophecy gets fully fullfilled in 8x6.

DrückebergerTV

Omg me too. Its this horrible regretful feeling - they had a masterpiece in their hands, and the shat the bed. Not only that but it feels intentional. They had every advantage. All the seasons they wanted. All the money. They could have even given it away and stayed producers in name only, as many do, and let others who care land this. But no. Criminal.

Izattyi

BRILLIANT? oh hell no. Just wow no. No. I can’t even being to count the ways in which this hot turd failed the narrative, the characters, the story arcs, and fucking basic logic. I swear I now root for the night king because the utter stupidity of it all.

Izattyi

lets put everyone in the crypts with a bunch of dead bodys that the knight king can raise what could go wrong

ramon carter

Not sure how S&P was ok with Arya killing the night king even though it was built for 8 seasons to be Jon . Arya didn’t even know white walkers existed until last episode yet she gets the biggest kill in the series for no reason other than “Shock Value” , Worst decision in GoT history especially for fans like me who was waiting for years for this battle.

TheRoguePrince19

Love the enthusiasm of both!

Victor Radoi

Cinematically it was a wonderful episode. The visual effects, the action, the epic-ness of the episode was next level. BUT there were SO MANY missed opportunities. Jon and the Knight King battling it out was built up throughout the entire series … for what? Jon and Danny being the Price Who Was Promised … didn’t amount to anything. The entire prophesy amounted to nothing! Bran was useless. And this isn’t even getting into what happens after this episode that made NO SENSE going forward. I enjoyed the episode for what it was. I enjoyed re-watching it. But every time I watch season 8 all I can think about is all the missed opportunities to really end this amazing, amazing series so much better.
