The Legend of Korra 1x5 Reaction & Review

Comments

What are those bad moments exactly?

Stretercto

I love the Worldbuilding in Korra. I think it’s the strongest and most interesting part of the show. The characters are the weaker points for me it’s hard not to compare to Aang and friends even though I know it’s dumb to do so. But I do think Korra is a more interesting Avatar dealing with more interesting problems as an older Avatar. She’s just not as likable as Aang at all. But ya i think the progression of the world and the idea that people are kind of sick of benders was a fantastic idea. That would definitely happen in our world. I could go on forever about what I don’t like but there are still a lot that I do like.

I've always disliked the love triangle but seeing it through your eyes lent it more context for the character growth and team building. Interesting, thanks.

Def, along with the animation improvement, it’s just like… from a completely objective point of view, the fighting is amazing, it’s just fact. Especially in the later books.

There are very mixed reactions to this show. Personally, I think it’s great that Korra and Aang don’t have the same personality, and the different direction they went with it, but others will hate on it. I wanna say, form your own opinion.

I LOVE ATLA, but I've always said that the fight choreography in Korra is so much more dynamic and captiviting. It's just so much more visceral.

Tiang Maphosa

whilst it was a nice episode overall, I just feel with a shorter season I'd have appreciated seeing something besides a pro bending match and relationship drama that's resolved in the same ep

Ammaar Ahmed

Just a small little nitpick from me haha, just in the pronunciation of the villain's name. It is Amon, not Aman :) Great reactions otherwise!

Really liked the bending in this one, I'm starting to pick up on the differences in fighting styles between the traditional combat employed by the various elemental nations and that used by their respective athletes: for instance, Mako's style of firebending is less grand and fluid than what we saw in ATLA, and more akin to what you might see an MMA fighter do, which I like.

Same I rewatched it a couple months back and I really enjoyed it honestly. I’m glad that they made Korra the opposite of Aang,it just makes it easier to explore new ideas and events.

Hmmm I definitely couldn’t watch too much of pro bending. Love the idea but visually it’s a bit too repetitive in my opinion. So I’m glad they utilised this episode to progress the pro bending storyline whilst also establishing the character dynamics and building their relationships. I think that was the main takeaway for this episode - pro bending aside, is seeing the group grow as friends and teammates

After rewatching LOK a couple of times, I find myself realizing a lot of aspects are a lot better in actuality, then what I thought on first view. Although the commonly known bad moments, still bad.

You know I had some pretty mixed feelings about LOK but I feel I'm rewatching it for the first time with these reactions - Honestly, pretty enjoyable. I think watching it from S+P view/videos helps me separate it from watching it as the show that is kinda like ATLA but isn't. It seriously is such different vibes though. 5 episodes in and it's a totally different world. Go back and watch any random Ep of ATLA and you're reminded how far behind they were technologically. Also gives different perspective of bending - Fire benders in ATLA felt OP bc they were trained to use their bending to seriously hurt or kill, where LOK there is no need. So somehow pro benders seem very good at their craft and abilities, but don't feel actually threatening from a fighting perspective. Interesting stuff. The older perspective on love triangles and all that is welcomed, but maintains a mature tone and doesn't eat up the entire book and they resolve it in this episode, which is nice.
