GoT Wrap Up Video Questions

Hey S&P Fam!!

We are extremely sad that our Game of Thrones journey will soon be coming to an end! To make the pain more manageable, we have decided to do a wrap up video!

A portion of this video will be us answering some of your burning questions about Game of Thrones. So, if you've wanted to ask us about our thoughts on any topic from GoT now is your chance!! We won't be looking at this post until we have completed season 8, so no need to worry about spoilers!

Unfortunately we wont get to answer ALL of them, so we will be picking our favourites! Think hard, get creative and let's have some fun!!

Comments

Will you react to character tribute videos afterwards? They can summarize a character’s journey beautifully! There are some great ones out there! If I may recommend some: Jaime: https://youtu.be/FStL8R_ENVE Tywin: https://youtu.be/vO0VWaJjOSk Cersei: https://youtu.be/IsBA4VRx278 Jon: https://youtu.be/uuDu43Gnyts Daenerys: https://youtu.be/JPOqPASes2w Tyrion: https://youtu.be/z7n3SKwRaPA Theon: https://youtu.be/yYw2hcEDIzw

What is your favorite season? How would you rewrite the ending? Do you view HOTD differently now that you’ve seen GOT?

Destinee Yang

Here's a suggestion... do Stranger Things as your next series. Do a poll and I bet it wins against any other show. Plus you'll love it ...it will sooth the sting over finishing GoT. Its brilliant and a great palate cleanser.

ArcAngel

Also you should rank the seasons! Maybe you both make your own list.

Ailene Evangelista

It’s like going back to an abusive, toxic relationship even though you know it’s bad for you. Vicious cycle. Sad but makes sense.

Ailene Evangelista

You probably know by now there’s talks of a Jon Snow spin off being a possibility. What do you think of that? Check out Kit Harrington interview on the game of thrones official podcast from a few months ago. He gives some interesting thoughts about where Jon could be at mentally after that finale.

Ailene Evangelista

That point is different for every character. Jon and dany had material up to 5x10. Tyrion 5x7. Jaime 6x8. Brienne 4x10. Bran 4x10. Sam 7x1. Arya 6x5. Cersei 5x10. Theres no "clear" point. D&D made this show their Story starting from 1x1. Only bookpurists start to complain after season 4. S&P loved season 5 to 7 even more than all prior seasons.

DrückebergerTV

So, Dany would be brought back... so Jon can kill her again lol

DrückebergerTV

Even if she was revived, which...im not really sure why someone would want her to be given what happened...well, the show lore is its own thing, but the book lore...I believe it would be too late. She would be something else...like Lady SH.

SuddenImpulse

Could you tell the point where the books stopped providing dialog? I'm always interested when new people watch spoiler free to see if they can pick out the point where the direct lifting became bullet points

Morgan Stark

Two questions from me. 1. How’s this for a spinoff (SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS LIKE CRAZY, YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!) Drogo flies off with Dany’s body. He brings her back to Meereen where the Red Priestesses followed Dany, and just like Mel and Jon, one brings her back to life from a fatal stab wound to the heart. Note that in Bran’s final scene, he only seemed especially interested in finding out where Drogo is. Maybe this is why. It’s canon that every time a person is brought back, they’re a bit changed. What does that mean and how does she feel about her final day, with the hindsight from dying? What does she do now, with the fallout of the finale and who’s where and doing what? Does she still have a purpose to serve, or like Tyrion, does she need to do some penance (possibly in a ruling position, possibly not; possibly across the narrow sea and not in Westeros) to make up for the all the damage she’s done? I’d rather rewatch 50 times even just 1 season addressing all of that, carefully written with very meticulous attention to detail and lore, than to get 5 full seasons of prequel shows about Robert’s Rebellion or Aegon’s Conquest. 2. Second question: Obviously she was in the worst parts of grief for Missandi and Jorah, depression from a bad break-up with the only man she loved who also understood her and helped bring out the best of her, and PTSD from the wars and especially from watching two of her dragon children being murdered by the time The Bells episode happened, but how much of Dany’s madness do you think may have been caused from her spending so many hours using Drogo to threaten, burn, and kill? Do you believe that their connection goes both ways, and the dragon can influence their rider like the rider can “control” (to some degree) their dragon? Maybe Drogo was like, I AM SO DONE WITH THIS ALL, LET’S JUST END THIS FOR REAL, WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS HOLDING ME BACK, MOM?! when the bells rang, and Dany was mentally/emotionally too weak to resist acting out on that rage. And maybe by the time she was done nuking King’s Landing, she’d lost enough of her mind that now she’s above men, more dragon than human, she believes herself to be like a goddess who knows best. Clearly, she had some very violent instincts from the very first season (rewatch and you’ll spot her violent impulses all over her seasons), but the one time it counted most, it was as though she was acting exactly like a dragon, without humanity or pity. She has madness in her family history. But maybe she could have stayed sane and compassionate if not for her waging wars on a dragon. I’m very interested in your thoughts on this before HotD S2 starts and we get more dragon lore. I wonder if this is a concept we may see again, or if back at the height of dragons, riders had ways to somewhat lessen the effects of the dragon on the ride’s mind (if that’s indeed a real thing).

Sam did not regress at all. He found he courage in some key critical moments but none of that changes the fundamental nature of who he is. He has never and will never be a fighter, so yes, he runs at some point. And when season fighters like the Hound or Arya are running , it's odd to begrudge Sam for that. I love the scene with Jon that you referenced. Sam was just done, taken by despair. He was far from alone. But I love how Jon glanced at him and just kept moving. Nothing expresses the desperation of the situation more than the cold choices that have to be made at that point. Jon simply could afford to stop for his friend when the fate of everyone tested on him reaching Bran. I dislike this episode initially (and maintain that criticism of how the whole northern threat ended is valid) but now it is one of my very favorites simply because overall it's so well-made (warts and all) and carries such emotional heft.

Julien

I will say 6/6.

DrückebergerTV

I'm sure you'll comment on it during The Long Night episode reaction, but what do you think of Sam's regression into a coward? After he killed that white walker out of fear and protection for Gilly and baby Sam, all he could do was hype himself up about it and suddenly he's season 1 Sam again. The bit that particularly highlights this is where he's laying down and Jon is walking past looking like "I'm sorry Sam, I can't help you."

Nicole Herd

Pudgey Cry Counter for Season 8? I’ll say 5/6 episodes.

David J

Hello from Seattle! I have 2 questions. First, what was the most emotional scene for you guys to watch? Second, now that you have finished the series who do you think the 'Prince/Princess that was promised' prophesy was about, Dany or Jon? Thanks for your content reactions, can't wait to see what's next!

SeaShel

I want to hear Spartan’s take on what they did to Jon’s character. I personally view season 8 Jon as a completely different character than 1-7. He was valiant, speaking his truth, and owned his power, then cowered for love. Would love your take.

Karl Lashkari

Yes, I have always thought that Jaime’s character arc is really fitting. So many people were upset, but to have that kind of love and dedication to his sister and then abandon it overnight because Cersei is evil is not realistic. I think his arc was very realistic.

Karl Lashkari

Jaime's story arc is certainly disappointing, but can you also see how he was basically destined to go back to Cersei and die with her. You guys have said all along she'll be the end of him. First time watching season 8 it pissed me off but after all this time and rewatch I can appreciate how slipping back under her spell was a constant thing for Jaime. He can't stop himself from loving her even though he doesn't want to.

Nicole Herd

Bran manipulated events to get there since he returned to Winterfell, and especially since he received the dagger. It seems like that's the precise moment when he realized where events needed to go, who to give the dagger to, etc. Though it doesn't make the whole experience any more enjoyable, it kinda of makes a bit more sense. Especially if the three eyed raven is an expression or embodiment of the weirwood network that used to span the whole continent with the vast consciousness and memories they contain from countless lives of children of the forest and men. Finally the trees rule Westeros again, this time in harmony with men.

Julien

Maybe a love/like/hate list but of the entire show, so including characters that were killed off in earlier seasons?

AG

What is unlikely is nearly letting her actual enemy escape because she took the time, for no reason, to meticulously roast thousands of women and children to ash, AFTER she had already won the war and Cercei literally surrendered. The war was over. Her armies were gone. Truly mind numbing stuff. With more time, that arc could have made sense, with so little time they needed her to do something truly insane and out of character to justify what was to follow.

Jake Follain

Did you even read the post before calling them a clown lol

Kayla

Do you guys intend on ever reading the book series or doing some sort of content discussing massive moments/characters that were cut from the show or done totally different?

Mark

Seems more clownish to call people out when you clearly didn't even read the original post

Mark

Why are you posting spoilers you absolute clown?

Jake Follain

@M.Miel He says to Meera he's not even Bran anymore. How clear does it have to be, we can't play with words and meanings to make it seem logical.

HDN

Do you understand why people think of Jon as a boring one dimensional character? They have ruined his role in the later seasons and shrunk it to 3 lines: "we need allies" and "you're my queen" and "i don't want it". They have done nothing with the biggest reveal of the series AND have thrown him beyond the wall at the end. Complete destruction which was built since season 6. Also, i'm already laughing just imagining Spartan's face when he hears Bran is chosen as king of the seven kingdoms lmaoooo

HDN

I get what both of you are saying. But basically Jon started as a nights watch member and ended as one. So nothing really changed. Even tho he got that crazy reveal. Like it didn’t even really matter that he was a Targaryen

Rey Jr

Which part/s of the series do you think made the biggest impact on Arya to turn her in to the badass that she became?

Josh

He went with the wildlings to live in the north. Its absolutely fitting if you read the books. Its the people he's always felt most at home with.

SuddenImpulse

Well yeah But if he says he can’t even be Lord how can he be king😭

Rey Jr

I’d also be curious to hear a top 5 or top 10 favorite scenes/moments

Katie Thomas

To be fair, a lord is not the same as a king 😅

M. Miel

What do y’all think about Theon’s story arc? Do you think the writing did it justice? Did he redeem himself and do you forgive him fully?

Katie Thomas

Bran: I can never be lord of anything Few Episodes later being asked to be king: Why do you think I came all this way

Rey Jr

What do you think of the way the night king died ? Was Arya the right person to do it and was the death of such a character that has been built up for seven seasons to quick ?

Rey Jr

Daenerys was an amazing character and had some the most memorable moments in the show. Her slipping off to the dark side is a difficult thing to watch the first time round. But looking back. Can you see that it isn't an entirely unlikely scenario. Can you see the examples of her power-hunger and narcissism (besides all of her redeeming qualities of course) when you look back at earlier seasons?

Dasypodidae

ending up at the nights watch again is absolutely not fitting in the slightest

Sean Carroll

I believe I saw a question about if you guys were planning on reading the books. They are great and full of interesting lore, many characters receive visions that hint towards events or things that may still happen (Dany's vision of Robb's death is the coolest for me). If you aren't planning on reading the books, are you guys planning on watching any comparison videos? You guys watched the alt shift x video on R+L=J, and he has many other videos that are just as interesting -- such as his video on the tragedy at Summerhall. videos like that are what got me to read the books (circa season 6 airing), especially when I learned about all the cut characters and storylines (some of which were ok to cut, but some such as LS or Young Griff straight up were terrible mistakes). But to be honest I think that made me dislike seasons 6-8 more because I was aware of the differences. Anyway, if you do read the books, I would love to see a video of your thoughts on each, but the books definitely ain't for everyone. All of the characters are significantly younger (Dany is 13, Jon is 14, etc.) which makes things like Dany's wedding wayyyy more disturbing. I hope you enjoyed the last few seasons of GoT better than I did and I'm excited to see you guys watch Breaking Bad for the first time!!

Melon

Also, to Spartan, how do you feel about Jon not being the eventual King of the Six/Seven Kingdoms? Do you think it was a waste of his story arc or do you see as fitting that he ends up where he started in the Night's Watch? Additionally, what are your thoughts regarding his true roots not being a major factor going forward?

thank u next

What are your opinions about Dani's arc (particularly in Season 8)? Do you agree with many others that it was poorly written? Or do you agree with some that say there were obvious hints along the way that went unnoticed because they didn't appear to be significant at the time. Pudgey you must be feeling heartbroken and conflicted since she was your #1. The first time I watched I was so confused. It seemed to come out of nowhere considering I viewed her character with rose-colored glasses. I do feel as though the script writers could've done more to make Dani's descent into "madness" more obvious, which would've been more understandable to viewers. But it would also make the ending more predictable so who knows.

1). Who was your favorite character duo? 2). Which character do you wish had survived to the end of the series? 3). Fuck, Marry, Kill - Villains Edition: Joffrey, Tywin, Cersei, Ramsey, Euron, Littlefinger, The Night King, and Mad Queen Daenerys? 4). What was your favorite "epic" moment of the series? 5). Who would win in a fight, Daenerys on Drogon or Daemon on Caraxes? 6). And finally, is this the only correct answer to GOT's ending? https://youtu.be/yWvQ_X2sqqE

JJ

Since I know Jon is pretty much y’all’s fave, are you satisfied with his ending?

Ailene Evangelista

What was your favorite episode? Favorite season? Favorite season finale?

Dani

What characters surprised you the most with the way their character arcs turned out? For me, it was Jaime Lannister and The Hound, because I never expected to love those characters by the end of the series, and then I did.

RuinedX

Not really a question but I there’s quite a few “alternate/re-written ending” videos on Youtube. Some of them are really great. I think they would be good additional content to react to post GOT

Franky E

I’m curious to know out of all the characters, now that you know their fates, who’s arc beginning to end is your favorite and least favorite.

Cam

What were your favorite seasons in hindsight and which ones do you think are better than HoTD? Personally I think seasons 1-4 are goated and 6>5 but at the time 6 was the most hype season and made the show so popular. I would really like if they redone the last two seasons what do you guys think?

Alex

Many people, including myself, have compared Jamie’s love of Cersei to addiction. Jamie always has a choice to abandon Cersei but fails at every turn, falling back into his “addiction” time and time again. We all know Jamie is a better person when he’s away from Cersei, and on a deep level Jamie is aware of that too stemming from the chat he had with Olenna. Jamie’s tragic story ends as he ultimately succumbs to his addiction once again in the penultimate episode. What do you guys think about this little allegory?

Jacob Cantu

Cersei should've known better than to trust Valonqar™ brand bricks

Munir

OMG I must have been typing as you posted hahahaha

Danielle Vine

How unsatisfied were you guys with Cersei's death?

Danielle Vine

On a scale of 1-10, how satisfied is Spartan with how Cersei finally went out? (Note: The scale is out of 100.)
