so glad you guys enjoyed this because i agree it really is amazing

About Iroh's storyline, I know we all love to see him let out the Dragon, but the fact of the matter is, we all know what hes capable of, and he has lived his life as a conqueror. Now, having left the violence and the turmoil behind him, I think it is very fitting that he is now shown to be a liberator, above all else. Hes almost pacifistic to the extent of the nomads.

Thanks Trent! The finale was amazing and we are also super excited for our Korra adventure. look forward to having you along for the ride, Welcome to our Patreon :)

Thank you for all of this.

First time commenter, been following you guys on Youtube for ages, but I think I'll stick around on patreon for your Korra rections. It's very hard to nail a series finale' and very few shows pull it off. Book 3 is a master class in story telling, nearly every character has arcs and story beats that come full circle and help the characters to grow. It does all this whilst maintaining a style and tone that is appealing for all ages. It embraces it's more adult themes without sacrificing appeal to it's core demographic (children). There is a common idea that you see in t.v and film over the last 25 years that happy endings are in some way make weaker stories. So many shows finish in tragedy as a way to be memorable and 'good' story telling. However, Avatar is the ultimate example of nailing a happy ending. It is one of the most memorable finale's ever (kudos to them for doing it as a 4 parter). This finale makes you laugh, makes you cry and makes you a better person, Aang and Zuko are inspirational and that if you have true conviction in doing the right thing you can overcome incredible obstacles. This is in my opinion THE best finale I've ever seen and I have watched a metric shit tonne of shows and movies. I think you guys will love Korra as well, especially seasons 3 (most peoples favourite) and 4. Korra takes some time to hit the same types of emotional beats and is toanally vastly different to ATLA but make no mistake, Korra has some incredible writing in it as well and frankly... better villains.

Amazing amazing amazing reaction guys! What a journey it’s been! One thought really quick- I liked your interpretation of how the music during the Agni Kai reflected Zuko’s calmness, but personally I’ve always seen it more as a serious, somber, almost sad tone over the duel of a brother and sister. Yes, Azula has done horrible things, but as you see through the finale, she really is a product of the environment she was raised in, and just 14, at that. She sought love from a toxic person who taught her that controlling others was the only way to live. But that only led to her mother seeing her as a monster, and the only “friends” she ever knew choosing to turn away from her. It’s shocking that Zuko turned out even remotely good, honestly. And she cares - at least somewhat - about Zuko, as we see from time to time when he was back in the Fire Nation. But overall, it’s just a tragic point that these two siblings have been driven to this duel due to their circumstances, their father and his forefather’s actions, and the war as a whole. When you watch their Agni Kai with this in mind, and Azula’s breakdown as a whole, it really gives it a whole new tone, especially with the fantastic music.

"Aang x Katara was always the case" The creators and head writer have actually said there was debate on this for awhile about if it should be A+K or K+Z, while the show was ongoing. You can google it and find interviews where they discuss it.

@Rey Jr It's always my opinion that you should watch things yourself and make your own judgement. Some people absolutely love Korra, some people really dislike it, some are mixed to various degrees. It was made by the same creators as Avatar and also has the same bending/stunt coordinator. Personally, I watched them both back to back for the first time over the span of 2 months when I was 25, with only a week between the two, and I really enjoyed it. When I went online after watching both consecutively, I was honestly surprised by some of the negativity around it. Don't be afraid to try new things. If you don't like it, it won't take long for you to figure that out. There are shows that I never thought I'd like, or thought were a bad idea to try after hearing things, and some of those became some of my favorite shows, or at least entertaining experiences. I think ATLA and LoK both have pros and cons, good things and flaws about them and like them about the same (although personally I like LoK slightly more). Now is a good time to test it out with S&P since they are also starting this journey, if you want to give it a go.

SuddenImpulse

fine out along side us Rey! so far we are having fun with it and just treating it as its own show. it's quite good

CpaSpartan Pudgey

I am not sure if I should watch Korra because of the negative reviews. Is it worth it ?

Rey Jr

Video idea - reading and reacting/responding to some comments/theories on these final videos.

Morgan

Misogynistic??? How ??? Lol Roku literally says “when love is real it finds a way”

Elizabeth Izaguirre

Which moments i literally never felt any type of romance from them…? Katara literally never blushed to zuko, she blushed with jet and haru and more with aang. Zuko ends up being a friend she is willing to accept because he proved himself to her specially after all zuko put katara through and aang someone who katara really cares for... I think the only time people think they could’ve happened was when he took the lightning hit but I think she was just thankful for him not dying and saving her I don’t understand why people misinterpret her kindness for romance…..

Elizabeth Izaguirre

@Hamide Feel free to DM one of us mods on discord if you have any issues/need help. On patreon its a bit hard to keep track of replies and such sometimes.

SuddenImpulse

I think they could have made it look legit with only a little extra but I'm happier with what we got anyway

KaijinGarou

DUDE I had no idea until I saw your comment. I paid for the Demi God Tier but I still need to figure out how this all works thanks!

Hamide Demir

I’m not denying that they didnt have any good and intimate moments together however the romantic aspect between them dont feel right imo

Iska

I wouldn't say zero moments and cheesy because they did have chemistry and shared some intimate moments where they looked like they were about to kiss but I do like Aang-Katara better and agree with everything else you said.

KaijinGarou

Valid point. Although the hero gets the girl story always depends on the writing for me, in this show it was set up so well from the beginning and as a viewer I want Aang to succseed. Aang has always been true to himself, He couldn't let go of Katara to get control of the Avatar state similar to how he refused to kill the fire lord even if all the answers leaned for that to happen. For me its not an issue or cheesy at all but it I know it can be in other movies if the writing isnt done well. This also dont explain why Katara and Zuko should be together while having zero romantic build up.

Iska

Definitely recommend you check out Korra as well if you had never seen Avatar and enjoyed it enough to watch it to the end. =) They just put episode 1 out on Demi tier, so it'll drip down to the rest before long.

SuddenImpulse

Cheesy? See I've always thought the storyline of Aang having a crush on Katara and then having to move past it to save the world and open the avatar state (aka learning you can't always get what you want) was WAY less cheesy than hero gets girl because he's the hero and he wants it. There's also a level of misogynistic entitlement in it that's made worse by characters like Roku who basically say things like "if you push hard enough it works out". Which...um...not really the greatest lesson to give young boys...

Nenny

The Boys. Joined Patreon for GOT which I am a huge fan. Read the books and everything. Never saw Avatar. Seen it on Netflix but never would have watched if you guys never featured this. Lots of love

Cynthia Goldman

I just want to thank you guys for this. I started watching you guys with Yhe

Cynthia Goldman

I am really glad you guys gave Azula the sympathy she deserves. I think a lot of people forget that she is JUST a child. She feared her father would treat her like Zuko and already feeling like her mother didn't love her. Zuko was lucky enough to have Iroh, Azula however her father was all she had... It's so sad and gets me in tears EVERY TIME.

Daisy Ramirez

I’ve noticed I actually find it really cute when the guy starts out shorter than the girl and as they age, he becomes taller than her and also I love that despite all the comments aang got about being shorter, he ended up being the tallest guy in the gaang lol

Cloudrazor

Korra right now! Right now! Korra! Need Korra now plz! Now! :D

Alex sh

Beautiful 👌

James Collins

The reason azula was so paranoid was because the two people she trusted the most, betrayed her. She wasn’t mentally stable before the betrayal so after, it sent her over the edge.

Nigel W.

Aang's joke about using "glue-bending" to stop Ozai from bending didn't end up being too far off. He did the same thing in the S1 finale with the "crazy amazing spirit attack." Zuko interrupted Katara while she had the upper hand on Azula in the S2 finale, so it was nice that he got to make up for that. Zuko didn't technically beat Azula, but I think Azula admitted defeat by resorting to a cheap shot. In Azula's first episode she was upset about one hair being out of place, and now all of it is. So glad my favorite cartoon still gets so much love all this time later, and these reactions have been top tier!

Munir

Okay. So now that you’re done, check out the video on YouTube : “the Search” official comic recap - what happened to Zukkos mom.

Betty Alice

Aang x Katara was always the case, from the moment Aang opened his eyes in the iceberg seeing Katara for the first time to the kiss at the end. I am so happy they didnt go for the cheesy Katara x Zuko relationship. Yeah i said it, CHEESY :) (they didn't share a single romantic moment between them in the show). Spartan makes the point about Aang being younger and shorter therefore he doesnt "match" well with Katara because of appearances and I love that the show ignore that norm.

Iska

On the Azula-Zuko fight. I don't remember exactly where I read this (I'm gonna go looking right after I finish this comment) but the music director was having trouble trying to compose music for the fight, struggling to make something that fit, and the directors said something like "Don't make music for what we can see, make it for how the character's feel" and that's what made it all click. It just fits so perfectly, it's not heroic or triumphant, it's just tragic, really driving home that this is not how siblings should be. It's a brother and sister fighting to the death while their home burns down around them, perfectly encapsulating what Ozai's cruelty has done to his own family.

Jack Maitland

Absolutely loved your reaction and commentary!! Isn't it amazing how everyone speaks so highly of the show and encourage reactors to react to it, and so then when first starting the show from episode one it looks so kiddish and cute, and the animation looks so unrefined, and so many reactors wonder if they're going to like it and if it will get better. But then as you continue watching you get so invested in the characters, world-building, lore and storyline, and you come to realise why everyone loves ATLA sooo much. It evolves from that cute kiddy cartoon, into a more serious and mature show that audiences of all ages can watch and get something out of it. I love ATLA and I really enjoyed watching your journey through the series :)
