Like how the North is pledged to House Stark, those houses are pledged to House Lannister. Those are just guys who had no choice but to fight when called on.

They are just normal people, plenty good people who are just doing what they can to survive and feed their loved ones. Arya also needed this reminder, and this was it.

I have been saying THE NORTH REMEMBERS since I joined Patron with this scene in mind. They are the unofficial words of the North. I was so excited at this point in the series when I was watching it and it takes me back when I see Spartan and Pidgey getting excited and pumped up. I still remember ( I am a northerner myself ) around the time of the red wedding, Spartan being dejected that all the loses were on side of the characters he loved ( northerners ) and that the wins were on the side of the characters he hated ( southerners ). Well if you remember, southerners are "the knights of summer" but Summer is over and Winter is here. This seems to be mirrored in the way the tides have been changing for the northerns and against the southerners. As you look deeper, there are so many fascites about this show to speculate about. I look forward to your next reaction.

To me, the angle of the braids and pointy dragons in her hair throw off her profile and with the cut of the shoulders on that dress, she always, always reminds me of the Night King in silhouette. Dim your screen or squint at it and you’ll see the resemblance; it’s creepy.

2023-05-25 13:44:29 +0000 UTCTo be fair to Sansa challenging Jon’s decisions, that’s not awesome in front of others, but she knows Jon’s already been murdered by his own men before, and that Robb and their dad also got killed for underestimating enemies. She’s survived on only one life with pretty much nothing but her own cunning. If she thinks she’s wiser and speaks up, she’s genuinely trying to protect Jon by keeping his men happy and loyal (in other words, “give the loyal men the fucking castles so they don’t resent you and murder you again, Jon, we need you.”). Jon is excellent at leading in crisis, and Sansa’s learned how to keep the peace (or at least keep the calm). They’re a very good balance to each other, if they can stop butting heads. Sansa’s tired of watching the men in her family get themselves killed; can’t blame her for that.

Guessed both Jon's mother and Arya as Frey right at the starts of the scenes. 🔥 The dragonstone sequence is one of my favorites in the entire series. A wordless tribute to such a long awaited moment. Finally, FINALLY, Dany has made it to Westeros. After everything. All those trials, all that heartbreak, all those setbacks. Her pausing to touch the ground was brilliant. Every thing about this sequence, the action, direction, editing, and music, was calculated to convey the weight and gravity of this momentous event.

Play a big part in HOTD, not sure if you guys noticed it! The cats paw was the dagger that little finger sources to kill Bran way back in season 1.

It’s the first time we’ve seen Arya using her faceless skills in such an extreme/unbelievable way. It’s one thing to wear the face of a random girl around her same age. But to look and sound like old man Walder Frey in front of his entire family is a whole other level.

So I don’t think it’s weird to be confused when we finally meet nice soldiers. It’s the same with the Freys. If they had a scene showing a bunch of Frey soldiers acting like the nicest guys in the world, it would catch me off guard at first too. Of course not every soldier is the same, but it’s hard to look past the sigil and the house colors when they’ve represented nothing but evil deeds for 7 seasons.

2023-05-25 05:25:58 +0000 UTCWhen thinking about your background lighting some of season 7 and a lot of season 8, the lighting in the show is darker because of different locations or if it’s nighttime. The darker lighting behind may help you see the screen better on the dark scenes. Most reactors adjust their viewing screen brightness some for 7 and more for season 8. It’s great to be able to see a characters whole face or be able to see what location they are in more clearly if it’s a dark environment.

I do watch another reactor who released the same episode today, it took them about half way into the scene to know. All the others just assume it’s a flashback or that the end of season 6 was a dream Arya had. Then once it’s revealed that it is Arya they are super surprised. It’s amazing that you guys knew immediately who it was. ❤️❤️❤️

They had to find a way to incorporate him and his music in a scene with her. All comments are correct above about it being meaningful that these are soldiers and how their lives are impacted. 2023-05-25 04:27:18 +0000 UTCIt's weird and hilarious how Spartan is completely unable to wrap his mind around the idea of nice Lannister soldiers throughout that whole scene. 😂 These people are not Lannisters, they are Lannister *soldiers*. The Lannisters are lords of one of the Seven Kingdom and their armies number tens, perhaps hundreds of thousands from all corners of their lands. Not everyone of those soldiers is Cersei. Most are ordinary people concerned with ordinary things like people everywhere. Does your average Aussie soldier mirror your PM or government? The other thing is that we've known ACTUAL Lannisters that are not some evil caricature. Tyrion, Kevan, Myrcella, Tommen, and the cousin Jaime killed are decent people. Jaime and perhaps Lancel have their moments. If there are more decent or grey people than assholes within the actual Lannister family, why expect all their soldiers to be assholes? ;)

One of GRRM's biggest themes throughout the entire series is how war and power grabs in the upper ruling class steamrolls over the regular people and they suffer the most for it. I think D&D possibly wanted to humanize these guys, like you said, because there's about to be war again and as always, the regular folk (like the father and daughter) will most likely be the ones paying the price for it all. Soldiers are just regular people, even Lannister ones, and I think it was a nice moment for Arya to realize that and to have.
