I find weirder how Mai didn't give a damn about his uncle boiling to death. Even if they don't get along, which we don't really know because they never explain, it is still very dark. I mean, I have relatives I don't get along with and I wouldn't want them to boil in water to death.

2023-05-22 20:57:49 +0000 UTCi liked that too but idk if it's a writing error or oversight or whatever but i didn't like how they had no issue cutting the line with Azula on it...like they really were cool with killing the princess ?lol the warden would rather kill the firelords daughter than have his escape record broken. i think either quick line acknowledging shes on there and that shes capable of getting off OR a short punishment scene to the warden being like"cut the line with me on it???" would have been valuable

2023-05-22 19:32:05 +0000 UTCi feel the same way. that's explored in the ember island episodes and her eluding to having everything sorted for her as long as she behaved and stayed in line, so her default isn't to feel much of anything, including fear. i believe this is also why she's passive on the war in general and how she has difficulty relating to zukos passion for ending the war because she's just disconnected from it all and i think zuko is the only one in the world at this point in her life who makes her feel something which is why she's so concerned over that in the cell and not the war

2023-05-22 09:25:34 +0000 UTCA cool moment of foreshadowing is how mean Azula was to Mei and Tai li in 2x7 when they were kids. Shows how there loyalty was more habit then earned. Always like how Zuko explained his reasoning to her. And him looking into her eyes when she says at the beginning of the scene how a letter wasnβt enough and she would have wanted him to tell her face to face. The details are so good. Also the song the sun warriors played for the dragons has been the outro song scince season 1. Really curious how much of this show was just next level retconned

I love the Zuko stuff in black sun but i found it annoying that they completely failed in their mission, I didnt expect them to win but i was expecting some sort of resolution. Boiling rock was great because obviously the Zuko Sokka dynamic and the constant increasing of the stakes, starting from escaping with his dad, adding suki into it and then suddenly Mai is here and then Azula and Ty Lee and then the prison riot chaos. The episode just kept ramping up the intensity and the ty lee, mai betrayal is just perfectly done. The heroes succeeding also just made it all worth it. Boiling rock is probably my second favourite behind The Perfect sozins comet
