Game of Thrones Uncut Reaction S6 E5

Game of Thrones Uncut Reaction S6 E5 'The Door'

Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.

Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.

Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.

These reactions DO NOT include our intros and discussions. You will have to refer to the original edited version of the video.

Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

Comments

I needed this ending commentary. thanks, guys. It made my night so much better. mint

BabaYega

I was astonished the last few seasons, not in a good way lol

Juan

Had me in the first half, not gonna lie 😂😂😂

Natasha Medina

Stranger Things? 😆 LoL You Really Talking About Stranger Things? Let Me Tell You Something About Stanger Things, Stranger Things Season 4 Is Prolly The Greatest Season Of Any TV Show Out There. Stranger Things Season 4 Is Goated 🐐 Up There With Great Shows Like House Of The Dragon And Game Of Thrones

Fabian

I think that's definitely true. He even says in a previous episode (I think directly to Ramsay) that he doesn't know much about him. Even if Littlefinger figured him out there, it was too late really. They were at Winterfell already.

Roma

Does anyone know if S&P have seen all of Stranger Things? I’ve been wondering if maybe they saw it before doing HotD and GoT reactions 🤔

Natasha Medina

As much as I hate Littlefinger, I really do believe he didn't know about Ramsay. Most people didn't. He was the bastard of Roose Bolten in an isolated castle far up north and kept a low profile. It's perfectly possible that Littlefinger had little to no information on him.

Jenny Tolls

Hodor`s fate has been predestined since before Bran has been born. Sad to think about the fact that he never had any control over his life. Identity and meaning was forced on him.

Achillis

Does not matter how many times I watch that scene, my tears start as soon as Willis starts repeating “hold the door”. His entire life was forever changed and his existence was almost solely for the sake of Bran. Whew, that is some heavy stuff. I’ll never not be astonished at the writing. Truly.

Shay

There’s actually been a cool theory in the book fandom for a while that each of the direwolf names foreshadows the child’s fate: I can’t actually go in depth and describe them because of spoilers, but look at the direwolf names and think of what you know about the characters ultimate fate.

Mzuka

I understand Rickon has the name Stark but does Pudgey really think a useless character like Rickon could lead the north over basically the main character of the show like Jon lol 😂. Great reactions tho guys.

TheRoguePrince19

I've seen this scene so many times over the past few years and it still gets me every damn time. It's so incredibly sad.

John Neiberger

Totally agree lol who cares where they’re from 😠

Gummybear

The spiral pattern around the weirwood tree was the same as the pattern that the white walkers made with the horses' bodies after they defeated the Night's Watch at the Fist of the First Men. Jon and Mance saw it in season 3.

Rich Muratori

The Hodor reveal always breaks me. Tragic. Epic.

Ailene Evangelista

Ok, let's make Urine Greyjoy a thing, I'm loving it :D

Sarah

Thank you, this one was a banger and hard on all of us for certain. Love your reactions!

Uncle Steve

Sound would interfere with the sound of the second screen

Julien

Ok now what tier do i have to upgrade to to get the next episode? Lol i always tell myself to wait a few days to watch so i can watch multiple reactions together or have less of a wait time between and then i always cave within a couple hours 🤦‍♀️

AG

Meh. The freak out is probably my greatest pet peeve with reaction videos. The way reactors just immediately come out of their immersion because they recognize some actor. You'd be in the middle of a powerful scene and then "Hey! Isn't that yada yada from blah blah blah??" It has ruined so many moments for me 😂. Even here, the fantastic entrance of Oberyn (probably the most badass intro of a new character in the whole show) didn't hit because they just couldn't believe "Joel" was here. Some other reactors will spend a whole scene wondering where they know some actor from - which is even worse. It's just extremely distracting. Anyway, it's a pet peeve. ;)

Julien

I always interpreted the 5 direwolves as symbolic of the "Stark" identity in the kids. Arya's runs wild & free like she does, unattached to anything or anyone. Sansa loses Lady early when she sides with the Lannisters against Arya. Robb & Greywind depart together at the Red Wedding. Rickon has been imprisoned & subsumed by the Umbers & Boltons, losing Shaggydog. Summer (like Hodor) always protected Bran, sensing he had a greater destiny. Summer/Hodor ultimately sacrificing themselves signals Bran is becoming something else, beyond being a Stark. It also literally fits the story: summer is ending, winter is coming. Ghost's white coloring coloring perfectly represents Jon being a bastard "Snow", an inversion of the wolf's natural colors. Ghost also resembles the white trunk & red eyes of the Weirwood trees. Of course GRRM's intention with Ghost's name is now revealed, as Jon has been resurrected.

Hopefully you can still hear S & P talking, and it’s just the actual GOT ep without sound. For the uncut reaction, you have to synch up the show on another devise or window to listen along to it while they talk (they’re being very protective of rights etc. so they don’t get in trouble or shut down; it’s safest to keep clips with sound or full screen images to limited times like they do for the edited reaction). If you know the show very well, you can get away with following along reading the captions in the uncut. Hope that helps. :) It’s weird at first but you get used to it.

Don’tDrinkTheLuminol

Hi I just wanted to know if you guys knew that the uncut videos have no sound

Kendra Loyd

I have faith in their reactions (but I kind of do hope they don’t know and freak out on screen). I think they watch with captions on and they have been known to pause if their brains need to process what they just saw. :)

Don’tDrinkTheLuminol

Fuckin Bran man….RIP Hodor, i cry every time. Also upgraded tiers for this haha well worth it.

AG

Finally the origins of HODOR. Basically his entire life purpose was to hold the door for bran. Every day of his life he repeated his purpose its kind of sad if you think about it, his simple life of a stable boy was cut short having to sacrifice himself for the greater purpose bran its pretty messed up.

Alex

Why are you watching the reactions if you hated it so much? Take your disdain elsewhere edgelord

TallTyrionLannister

Pudgey's face when it hit her is exactly my feeling. SUCH a crazy moment. I remember a story I read about some Song of Ice and Fire fan was at some convention in the late 90s, early 2000s. George RR Martin was on an elevator and the fan wanted to get on said elevator, so he said "Hold the door!" Apparently the way he spoke it, along with seeing George, made it click in his head and he was like "Wait... Hold the door. Hodor. How about that? haha" George turned and smiled, and didn't say anything. I love it-- no clue if it really happened, but i love the idea that George has been sitting on that for so long.

MattyK

Ah. Too late! 😂 Thx for understanding.

Julien

This episode makes me tear up every time. You are #1 Hodor and Summer.

SuddenImpulse

They have already watched this episode, so we will just have to see how it plays out. I definitely understand why you made the request though and sympathize with it.

SuddenImpulse

TO THE MODS [S&P pls SKIP this comment]: There is a certain beloved character and actor showing up in the next episode or two. We've seen this person before in another beloved show on this very channel. Is it possible to warn S&P in advance of this actor's appearance? The reason I ask is this [S&;P if you're still here, do not read this]: this character's appearance is brief yet powerful. The first scene is especially impactful but it's not long. It would be a terrible shame to have them gushing over this appearance during the scene and miss half the dialog and impact. We'd much rather our reactors stay in universe and take on the whole scene undistracted by the actor. I believe your warnings would help. Pls think about it. Thx!🙏

Julien

It is perfectly fine to state your distaste for the episode, but why would you declare things in this episode don't have payoff. That is telling them things about future content. The commenting rules post is 4 posts above yours.

SuddenImpulse

goddamn this episode sucks, so many bad writing choices that have 0 payoff, as fun as it was watching you react to older seasons, now I get to relive the disappointment

Matt

The 'religion mingling with politics' plot point is always a good one in book and show - first Cersei turning to the Sparrows for political gain, now her brother turns to the red priests for political gain in Mereen

kkoe

HDN is right. Viewers love Hodor the way they love a puppy. He's a giant developmentally disabled person whose only personality and defining trait is his kind innocence and loyalty. A gentle giant. He was not important to the story (no, carrying Bran around doesn't make him any more *important* than any horse in the show). So yes, to unexpected imbue this character with a cosmic, tragic fate out of nowhere is absolutely astonishing. GRRM reeled us in with this unimportant character for all those seasons and books, and sprung this massive twist on us. It's a masterclass of writing. (Another aspect of Hodor is that his presence past his disabling event reflects well upon - and frankly, *defines* the fundamental decency of the Starks. Of course *they* would keep him around and find tasks suitable for him. Because they are good people. In a story where Tyrion, who is wittier and smarter than virtually everyone but had a misfortune of being a dwarf, is widely reviled (the Imp!) including by his own family, the Stark's treatment of Hodor is positively angelic. Imagine Hodor in any other house. In a world where far moreso than ours, disability devalues you as a person. Imagine Hodor growing up w the Lannisters. Lmaooo)

Julien

Yeah okay buddy

Ted Mathews

Urine lol. I'm not sure what is sadder. Hodor or Princess Shireen.

Nick Wright

Just finished it. Hodor was so unimportant the whole series, when you rewatch it you're gonna feel how crazy it is that this guy was accorded this insane moment from the beginning. Only GRRM can make this kind of background characters this important and this deep in the scale of plot twists and holy shit moments.

HDN

Just upgraded! Great way to start the weekend!

Regina wibert

Exactly. Bran warged into young Hodor in order to control older Hodor's mind. Which ended up causing Hodor to have some sort of episode in which he heard/saw "hold the door" and assumably saw himself in the future. Which caused him to lose his mind and become the Hodor we know. "The past is written, the ink is dry"

i dont understand how or why that Hodor scene makes me cry every damn time I see it....i never cry...except for when I watch Hodor hold that damn door.

chris r

I cried so much at the Hodor reveal scene, it was indeed heartbreaking

MeanAngel

Why oh why can’t he just publish more of the damned books?? :(

Don’tDrinkTheLuminol

I liked your comment but it’s a tad debatable whether the old gods are THE MOST relevant… I mean, there’s clearly true power in the old gods (“tree gods,” as Davos says) with all these visions, but Jon and Beric were both brought back to life by a different god.

Don’tDrinkTheLuminol

They’re debating which of the gods actually have power, they know about Hodor, and they’re already making Urine Greyjoy jokes—I feel like our sweet summer children baby reactors are all grown up now. *sniffs with pride*

Don’tDrinkTheLuminol

Spartan, Pudgey is totally right - the weirwood trees are said to be the eyes and ears of the old gods, through which they not only observe but occasionally speak. In this season, we’ve seen Bran and the three eyed raven do exactly that. The power comes from intermingling between the First Men and the children, so yes it does pretty much originate from the children of the forest. The old gods are probably the most relevant to the story.

Mzuka

Damn I never noticed that before. That’s actually brilliant! I’ll be paying more attention to her hair and appearance now.

Jenny Tolls

Neat bit of Sansa lore (approved by a mod on Discord to share, so it’s not spoilery)… She uses her appearance to make political statements, like making herself the wolf dress, and making and giving Jon the mantle that looks like Ned’s. Good costumes for recruiting Northern houses. She understands the importance of appearances and branding. But really watch her hairstyles in the series. When she’s first in King’s Landing, she wears her hair in that weird crescent style like Cersai used to have. Then she becomes friends within Marjorie and wears her hair half-down like her. But now, she’s wearing her hair in a braid while she travels, just like her mother. She visually emulates the women she wants people to associate her with and uses her hair to give clues about her current loyalties. It’s like Arya said in the first season—“Sansa has her needle, and I have a Needle of my own.” It’s very obvious how Arya used Needle to fight, and now we see how Sansa fights (in a political way) with her needle (remember that black necklace she wore with the circle and chain going through it? That’s supposed to be a symbol of a threaded needle) by sending messages without speaking a word in how she dresses and how she styles her hair. So there you go, that’s your key (confirmed by the show) to understanding what’s going on between Sansa’s ears. And on that note, I LOVE that she was wearing her hair like Cat when she told off Little Finger for getting her tortured and saying she never wants to see him again. I think that’s exactly what Cat would have said to him in that moment, too.

Don’tDrinkTheLuminol

“Apparently now he’s worthy—because his organs worked.” PUDGEY, I think that’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard you say! XD Edited to add: Excellent reaction as always! Lots of themes about sacrifice in this show. Some sacrifice themselves willingly, and some are sacrificed by others for others. I’m including Summer in this along with the Children and Hodor. My vote for what you should react to after GOT? A TOTAL REWATCH OF GOT once you know everything!! :)

Don’tDrinkTheLuminol

i think that he definitely looked her up and down and imagined what horrors she went through, but i don’t think her dresses went from low to high cut bc he cut her on her chest/breasts. starting around season 6x we see starting across the board with the lead female characters, they all begin wearing high cut dresses, dark grey’s and blacks, with strong shoulders - mimicking more masculine and military styles echoing armor. sansa specifically as she begins rallying the north and uses her clothes to reassert her house loyalty and display strength - as we also see with the direwolf sigil dress and her giving Jon clothes that mimicked Ned Stark’s. her neckline also likely shifts from low cut in the Vale, to high neck in the North due to the weather as winter is coming - we see her wearing a high neck when she meets Roose Bolton and is standing next to Baelish. she’s also wearing a high neck while she eats dinner with Ramsey for the first time and for her wedding to Ramsay. i’m certain he likely cut her as she says, but the implication that her breasts were mutilated isn’t really warranted.

Kayla Carlyle

After we know along with Little Finger that Ramsay needed her face but he cut Sansa, she says she can still feel what he did in body, standing there here and now. In that scene, you can see Little Finger looking her up and down, and I think it’s dawning on him that Sansa went from wearing a low-cut black dress the last time he was around her to keeping every possible inch of her skin completely covered. I think she literally has cuts and scars all over her entire body here.

Don’tDrinkTheLuminol

gotta love that vid posted of the actor being asked to hold the elevator door right after this episode aired XD

Rainbow

i mean it's sad but the explanation is kinda there on the page

Rainbow

The fact the GRRM started plotting out asoiaf in the early 90s, and it has not yet been revealed in the books, blows my mind in regards to the Hodor reveal. Such a seemingly innocuous side character with such a powerful back story nearly 30 years in the making at this point.

J_Fley .

Interesting to hear your thoughts on Theon being the one to kill Ramsay. That would be very cathartic. Theon, Yara and the rest of the fleet they escaped with are sailing the seas meanwhile the battle at Winterfell looms closer. I love Yara I think she is a much better choice for ruler of the Iron Islands. I love Theon too but even before he became a broken man he never had the qualities of a leader, never inspired his people to follow him. Yara can rally her followers and inspire change in her people. "We've never had a queen before." Euron is a piece of trash, I do understand why they brought him into the story but looking back on the whole show his scenes are not that memorable.

Nicole Herd

The pole that Meera threw at the White Walker had the dragon glass Sam gave them on it. When Sam met Bran at the wall he gave some to Meera and said for the archer when he handed them to her.

I❤️movies&tvshows

Wyllis getting the 'goodbye brother' stark theme at the end is soooo appropriate. Rip the gentle giant :(

Nana-Afia

was hoping for more discussion about the Hodor reveal

Jake Follain

Nah. Spoilers galore.

Julien

HODOR!

Daniel

At that point in the timeline, the war is nearing its end. Jaime has stabbed the Mad King and Rhaegar was killed by Robert Baratheon. All Ned needs to do at that point is find Lyanna. You pretty much got it (:

Caitlyn Guenther

Hold the door!!

Michael

With the hodor stuff, the old man says that the time has come for bran to become him, so they both warged into a sequence. Meera was shouting at bran to warg into hodor, he heard this while in his warg state and ended up warging through young hodor, which is what was seen.

Haseenudeen

Pudgey has a point. The Old Gods are worshipped in the north and north of the wall, and they are associated with weirwood trees. Bran was guided to the three eyed raven via a vision from a weirwood tree. And the tree eyed raven literally lives in the roots of a giant weirwood tree. It would make sense that whatever was going on over there probably has some connection to the Old Gods.

Julien

That was Ned's father Rickard Stark talking to young Ned before he went to the Vale (along with Robert Baratheon) to be trained by Jon Arryn. Remember in the first season Cat says Jon Arryn was "like a father" to Ned - that's where that came from. Also, interesting fact, Ned named his oldest two boys after his best friends (Jon Snow = Jon Arryn and Robb = Robert Baratheon) and his youngest sons after his family (Bran = Brandon Stark, Ned's brother, and Rickon = Rickard Stark, Ned's father).

Haseenudeen

Hold the door. Still one of the most powerful moments in television history. I was tearing up rewatching that. What a beast, a loyal friend to the very end, a hero, HODOR! RIP

James K

Please watch a three eyed raven video on yt, I promise the back story is quite interesting

Ayo1210

Awesome way to end the week! Thank you for doing this, really good idea.
