Game of Thrones 5x2 Reaction & Review

Yup. 🤔

Izattyi

Surprised to see so much defense for a cold blooded murderer.

J_Fley .

Pudgey is so intuitve I love it!! She deserves more credit lol

Jenny Tolls

This

SuddenImpulse

The answer to the last part, as I imagine you are implying, is very, very few.

SuddenImpulse

Tbf what should Cersei do. Go by herself ? Also why should Doran start a war. Oberyn died in a fair trial by combat. And I don’t think Dany wants to be worshipped. She just wants to do the right thing and be a good queen.

Rey Jr

One of the problems with watching the show and reading the books is I forget which one this quote is from but watching the execution here I kept thinking about Ned saying "if you cannot look into a mans eyes and hear his final words then perhaps he does not deserve to die"

Hayden King

I love how much deeper the meaning of this episode's title really is. It shows contrast between the characters. Cersei who always demands someone to do things for her, and Jaime who is always the one taking action. Prince Doran who is passive to everything and Ellaria who is aggressive. Shireen who is caring and thoughtful and her mother who is cold and judgemental. Jon Snow who is humble and just "one of the people" and Daenerys who wants to be worshipped and believes her judgment is more important.

Anna J

Tbf I understand Aliser. He fought for such a long time against the wildlings. Many of his brothers died against them. They butchered villages and showed no mercy. It is a conflict that goes back years. And suddenly Jon comes in. A man who likes wildlings and even slept with one. Of course he hates him.

Rey Jr

If I'm not mistaken, Shereen's greyscale was also featured in HOTD. Crabfeeder, he was the one Daemon killed in the island, cutting him into half.

Junriel Roa

I'm not sure if you guys already know. But the dragon's theme was also used in House of The Dragon when Aemon stole Vhagar. Also when Rhaenyra sent her boys to Starks & Baratheon.

Junriel Roa

Jon has seen what "treating oaths recklessly" leads to. It is kind of ironic that in a way he is following Cat's advice more so than Robb did. Also I love that Brienne isn't a quitter and understands why the Stark girls will not trust a stranger.

Karli Mac

Cutting off that kids head was a tough call. I see Spartans position with that scene. Could you imagine his rage and anger tho if it were cersie doing it?

James McDowell

Cersie never did anything to deserve being burned at the stake by Stannis!!! That’s harsh. Would you really like stannis if he did that to her?

James McDowell

She could've told Sansa that her sister is alive lol. I guess things escalated b4 she got to the point, in her defense she did wanted to speak to her alone. Also not trusting Baelish was the smartest thing she did that week.

neutchain

Karstark murdered prisoners AND disrespected the king publicly, he insulted Rob over and over again, for that you loose your head. With Dany this guy killed a prisoner and was like "i did it for you please forgive Mysa". Plus the Lannister prisoners were kids who did nothing wrong, VERY different situation. It's baffling to me that people equate these two situations.

Milorad

I really don't like how Brienne finds both Arya and Sansa in span of 3 episodes.

Jaroslav Dočekal

Oh pudgey we admit you are vigilant and attentive. But please stop jabbing my boy. Spartan all the love house Spartan shall prevail at the end.

IBRAHIM ALJABOR

Spartan bro...you've chosen well mate, you will not have a dull moment in your life with this fine lady. I'm only about 10 minutes in but can't stop laughing you guys have such good chemistry and it's so funny to watch the banter between you too. :)

neutchain

Lena Heady really deserves an award for her depiction of Crrsei . Dose anyone know if she won an award??

IBRAHIM ALJABOR

I think because Dany made a name for herself as a liberator, it’s hard for the former slaves to understand she has to appease them & the former masters as a ruler of them all. She never saw these consequences in Astapor or Yunkai because she never stayed there. In this case, I think killing him was the right move, the only criticism is doing it so publicly. No matter what he disobeyed the queens law to get his own Justice, essentially acting as a vigilante. If she granted him mercy or made an exception she would have to continue making exceptions and never establish a firm law. All this goes to say I think Dang deals with hardest/most political stressful situations in Meereen, that is a whole different ball game then Westeros. She doesnt get enough credit for trying to be different than her house/ancestors or lords of Westeros. E.g let’s be real I don’t know how many targaryens would’ve ever chained up their dragons for killing a kid

Julie

Robb killed Karstark for murdering prisoners, Daenerys did the same thing the law is the law, was it a poor decision to do it in front of a crowd? probably but I do think it was right

Tayyib Majumder

The three martel siblings all had their own traits that made them special, Oberyn was considered the more spontaneous one where as his sister was considered fragile and his brother was considered more careful.

Ayo1210

Yep I think Danny made a mistake here, not just because she executed the guy, but because she didn't foresee the conflict of interest that was present amongst her small counsel. A former slave filled with immense hatred towards the slavers and the sons of the harpy shouldn't be able to have access to the prisoner's cell so easily. That burden falls on our queen as much as it does on the former slave.

HDN

Well, there is a difference between what is moral/ethical and what is legal and/or pragmatic. This is a situation where Daenerys was caught in between the two. I think this is a dicey situation for a ruler regardless. No matter what she did here she would have likely pissed off one of the two factions.

SuddenImpulse

It is never wrong for a former slave to kill someone who wants to restore slavery. Remarkably, this position is considered controversial.

Julien

Well that's the theory, the ideal. Reality, of course (as you can see EVERYWHERE around you regardless of where you live) doesn't work like that, though it should.

Julien

This track is not remotely my favorite but yes, the soundtrack of this show is brilliant. Yet my favorite tracks are in later seasons, and in fact, I think the composer Ramin Djawadi's work in a single season of HOTD years later tops most of GOT. Much as I love his GOT work, I find his HOTD work considerably more *refined*. Less reliance on heavy drums (the early GOT stuff sounds almost primitive in comparison to even late GOT work). Mostly, it's insane how he's just kept improving non-stop over the 10+ years that he worked on both shows (and also Westworld in the middle there). It's been wonderful to experience! (None of this is to invalidate your opinion! I say this because in my experience, people get defensive and weird when you enthusiastically but even positively disagree with them)

Julien

If she saw this in black and white she should have simply executed the sons of the harpy not given him a trial, no? She also wouldn't have been struggling emotionally with the situation during the public execution.

SuddenImpulse

What is to stop someone else from doing the same thing and intervening and killing this other guy that is imprisoned like happened here?

SuddenImpulse

Also, Sam’s speech about Jon 🥺❤️ Funny and inspiring!

Sarah Stapleton

Dany sees things as very black and white when they are so much more complicated. It’s hard to watch because you know she has the best intentions and wants to be a fair and just ruler. But good intentions aren’t enough to be a great leader, especially in this world!

Sarah Stapleton

I mean... I guess it's two very similar situations and similar responses from their followers but it doesn't feel like a ripoff or contrived conflict in Mereen, it is completely believable that the emotions would be high on both sides of this masters/slavers conflict and something like this could happen. Robb and Dany make the same call on this one event but they both have a lot of other complicated and unique conflicts shaping their leadership/plot paths

kkoe

To this day I still wonder why she’d didn’t imprison the guy that killed the prisoner and put him on trial instead. It seems like that would’ve sent a message as well (although not as pointed) and it would have upheld the principle she was trying to maintain about following the law. I love Dany but that choice never made much sense to me.

Shay

Spartan hates Cersei so much, haha! I get it, she is AWFUL! We gotta give props to Lena Heady for bringing her to life.

Eddie House

We know no king but the king in the north whose name is Stark! <3

SuddenImpulse

Law is law, doesn't matter who did it against whome.

Dname

"The House of Black and White" is one of the best ost of Game of Thrones. Incredibly goatedly composed piece by Ramin Djawadi. Overally the ost of GoT (and HotD, same composer) are wonderful, and must not in any case be overlooked. The uses of leitmotivs are smart and effective, and the overall composition is excellent.

Mathπ

the lord commander jon snow. this bastard is some bastard huh? daenerys targaryn is a targaryn. what do queens do, they rule! ruling is not easy , even with dragons.

Stannis loves grammar.

the only thing i dont like about this episode is how they ripped off the Rob Stark & Karstark plotline again with Dany

Ietseatapples

At this point, the intro segment should be called "Previously with Pudgey" because these are HER intros now and I am totally fine with that lol Good on you Spartan for just letting her be her chatty self without doing too much haha you guys are great.

kelly

I was coming on here to say the same thing!

LadyV437
