I just saw another channel doing a reaction to someone's non-commented gameplay of LoU 1 and I think that would be great seeing Pudgey react to the game for the first time if you're up for it (the video was hours long naturally, though the guys reacted mostly to cut scenes and important bits of gameplay dialogue apparently).

I have loved ‘The Last of Us’ game for many years, & I love ‘The Last of Us’ show also. Both the game & the show have some superior aspects over the other, but in the end, I have found that I have a preference for the overall story elements of the game more than the overall story elements of the show. So, I am one of the people who would absolutely love to see you guys react to the differences between the two versions of the story.
My favorite unique moment in the show was when Ellie discovered Sam’s infection wound & she attempted to calm his fears & cure him with her own blood. She didn’t know about Sam’s infection in the game, & she didn’t try to heal him. This little alteration to the story adds so so so much more meaning to Ellie’s desire to protect & save other people in this broken world. Adding it made the show better in that specific moment & showed a willingness to revise the writing of a good story, into a better one without losing anything significant in the exchange.

I also think the 2nd game wouldn't be as hated if they didn't force you to play certain missions. I think the story will suit a TV show alot more I just didn't enjoy it as a game.

I personally think part 2 is a masterpiece, can't wait to see it on screen. Spartan should really play it

I think the reception for the second game would have been way different if a bunch of stuff didn't leak early and was seen without any context. A lot of ppl went into that game looking for reasons to hate it. While it's a narratively messy story at times because they packed SO much into it, I still love it...and I can't wait to see how they adapt it.

Jesus, you better stay off the internet between now and the start of the 2nd season, which is going to be ... what? Two years?? I've already seen major spoilers that happen in game 2 people have posted on YouTube, although to be fair, I think some of them were posted a while ago before the series was even a thing. Anyway, great reactions to a great series.

Ellie was closed off, not because they are getting close to their goal but because she was traumatized by what happened with David - including having to gruesomely murder him. IShe is FOURTEEN, a literal child. For some reason some reactors fail to pick up on the blindingly obvious trauma. Not sure why this is.

Ellie didn't even have a chance to have a choice. She needed to make the chhoice. Joel should of told her the truth. Marlene should of gave ellie a choice. Trolley problem.

If you dont want to play the game you could react to a "movie" on youtube (compilation of cutscenes and important gameplay bits) its 3 to 5 hours depending on the video.

Yes Wyoming Is where Jackson is which is Tommy's town. You can see it in the background as Joel and Ellie are talking.

Loved your reactions for Season 1 great adaptation! Even if i wish it was a bit longer. Won't be watching any of the S2 and S3 reactions personally but I enjoyed seeing you guys react to the first game.

Think it would be better if they just watching the show blind and then played the game if need be.

As a curiosity, that was Laura Bailey and besides the character she had in Part II, she did additional voices for Part I at the time and... she also did play the same nurse in the game.

Love how when Spartan says he knows less of the second game than the first Pudgey jokes "so nothing?" 😂😂😂

Agreed with Pudgy I always thought Ellie knew Joel was lying. That's why she says ok like she is willing to believe the lie to go on living.

The mother is Ellies actor from the game that's why it looks like Ellie.

I did mostly love this adaptation. I think the extended story for Bill/Frank and Sam/Henry was amazing and I enjoyed it more than what happens in the game. But focusing on that did remove a lot of good Joel and Ellie bonding/bandit/infected encounters during those parts of the story. And I feel like the season could have used another episode that could replace what those episodes had to take out.

Best man for kratos in my eyes is the actor for game kratos, Christopher judge, paint that man white and you’re one step closer to greatness

I also like Part II more than Part I overall.
Because it's a game... for me the gameplay evolved and it was better. And then the narrative, I think Part I had a more well-structured and "simple" story, which was really well done. But I value more the risks taken in Part II. They weren't just trying to make a buck over the success of the first game, if they did, they would just make another "Joel and Ellie's adventure". They actually had a story to tell about the characters in Part II, that takes big risks and is divisive, as the TLOU should be.
Unfortunately the leaks and some people with some dubious motives (and straight up lies, btw) polluted the online discussion around the game.
It's made in a way that was predictable that some would hate it, others would love it, and it could have been a much more healthier debate, like it was with the first game's ending.

I am actually someone who thinks The Last of Us Part 2 is better than the first one. I really don't think just seeing spoilers does it justice. I saw the leaks before playing the game and was hesitant about it, but it ended up being one of my favorite games of all time. I love the first game's story, but the second game's story is probably the most emotionally impactful piece of media I've ever consumed.

Btw, I must say that I was a bit confused after this ep for a second about why they made a whole episode of Ellie and Riley, when Riley was barely mentioned at the end - but I think it must have been to show how Riley chose to have the time she could have with Ellie instead of taking a better way out. So now, Joel did the same: he could have done a good/appealing thing, but he didn't want to sacrifice the time they would have otherwise (Marlene even asks him at the end if he realizes that their time would come to an end for one reason or another, sooner or later, and he doesn't care, he takes what he can get). Once Ellie told him that she would choose him, would follow him anywhere (unlike Tommy for instance), Joel was locked in, opened his heart completely, and then with the shot and missed story opened up in return and let her know similarly how much he loves her. After those exchanges there was no way Joel would have given her life away. And naturally seeing Riley's episode also gave special weight to how much Ellie needs her life to mean something now, so of course there's that. Brilliant stuff, once again.

I'd love you to play the second game and see that and Pudgey's reaction. Instead of game-show comparisons I'd like you to watch the Inside the Episode stuff and/or podcast eps (the comparisons don't interest me purely because they took a lot literally from the game, even the framing).

Also, one of the nurses in the operating room in the episode played one of the characters from The Last of Us Part 2, a wonderful easter egg. It is so great that they brought so many of the actors from the gameplay back in various ways throughout the season.

the woman who plays Ellie’s mom is Ashley Johnson, the original voice and motion capture actor for game Ellie! (surprised Spartan didn’t remember her voice 🤣💀)
it really comes full circle, she created OG game Ellie, and then gives birth to screen Ellie. she also helped handpick Bella Ramsey to carry on her legacy of Ellie, which i think is so touching!
