What's New This Week #6: Development Update & Enhanced Dynamic Cargo Rates!
Added 2025-04-11 01:54:22 +0000 UTCHey everyone,
I wanted to give you a quick update on my progress and share some exciting news about a major feature enhancement we're working on.
First, I've been quite busy with some other projects lately, which has limited my time to dedicate solely to the GDC Logistics Realistic Economy Mods. I know many of you are eagerly awaiting the full 1.54 updates and the restoration of all features, and I want to assure you that I'm still actively working on them. However, please bear with me as my schedule remains packed for the next couple of weeks. I'll be dedicating time to the economy mods whenever I can to push things forward. Thank you for your incredible patience and continued support!
Now, for the exciting part...
Get Ready for Enhanced Dynamic Cargo Rates!
Prepare for a game-changing mod update for both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2! We're significantly improving and expanding our dynamic cargo rate system to deliver the most realistic and responsive trucking experience yet. Say goodbye to predictable prices and hello to a living, breathing economy!
What's Changing?
We're taking our existing seasonal cargo rate system to the next level, making it even more dynamic and efficient.
Expanded Realism: We're not just adding seasons; we're refining how all cargo rates respond to a wider range of in-game and real-world factors.
Streamlined Management: We've developed new tools and techniques (similar to our fuel price updates) to manage and update these dynamic rates more efficiently, allowing us to keep the economy fresh and responsive.
Here's a glimpse of what you can expect:
Seasons:
Spring (March-May): Expect increased demand (and higher rates!) for agricultural goods like seeds, fertilizers, and early harvest produce.
Summer (June-August): Look for a surge in rates for refrigerated goods, construction materials, and vacation-related cargo.
Autumn (September-November): Demand for harvested crops (wheat, corn, soybeans), agricultural machinery, and school supplies will drive up prices.
Winter (December-February): Fuel, salt, and winter supplies, and holiday specific products will become hot commodities, boosting rates for those deliveries.
Real-World Market Conditions:
Economic downturns in real life will reduce demand for retail goods, leading to lower rates.
Likewise, economic booms will increase demand across the board, driving up prices.
Additionally, unexpected events (fuel shortages, raw material disruptions, real-world/in-game events) will create volatility in the market.
How Does It Work?
We've categorized all in-game cargo (Agriculture & Food, Construction & Industrial, Fuel & Energy, Retail & Consumer Goods, Chemicals & Hazardous, Specialized & High-Value). Each category gets seasonal and market multipliers applied to its individual base rate.
This means you'll need to think strategically about when and what you haul to maximize profits!
Why Are We Doing This?
Unprecedented Realism: We're aiming for an economy that feels alive and responsive to the world around it.
Strategic Depth: You'll need to plan routes, cargo, and timing to stay ahead of the market.
Enhanced Immersion: This system will make you feel like a real trucker navigating the complexities of the industry.
Your Feedback is Crucial!
We're still fine-tuning this system, and your input is vital! What do you think? What cargo types or market events are you most excited to see? Share your thoughts and ideas in the comments below!
What's Next?
We'll be sharing more details, gameplay examples, and maybe even some sneak peeks in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
