Game of Thrones Full-Length Uncut S3 E5 'Kissed by Fire'

Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.

Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.

Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.

These reactions DO NOT include our intros and discussions. You will have to refer to the original edited version of the video.

We hope you enjoy the video!

Nice little Easter egg… Shireen is singing the Velaryon theme from HOTD.

Seeing a new episode alert in my email always makes my day. This episode was so dang good. So many touching moments. The writing so far has just been amazing.

John Neiberger

Theon had to swing so many times because he used a longsword, it’s easier to use a 2 handed great sword like Robb and Ned did. In the books Robb fails to behead Lord Karstark with one stroke, but that was cut from the show.

Please delete this, this violates our spoiler rules we post on each video.

Can’t the mods take control over the comment section like on youtube? I’m not sure how Patreon works but if you guys can get the features, it’s be way easier since there’s usually only 40-50 comments per episode. Screenshoting comments would be more work for you guys

HDN

This may just last a day or two, it might last longer. Since people can't seem to just follow the spoiler rules we are temporarily just screenshotting all safe comments for S&P and having them read those because there have been too many short risky comments that they have to manually delete since when politely asked, most people never delete/revise them themselves. Just being transparent here. They are still reading your guys' comments. We might have to adjust how Patreon comments are handled for them so that they can still respond to you guys without getting spoiled. We all value and appreciate you patreons extremely. Maintaining the integrity, authenticity and quality of these reactions for S&P and you patreons is our top priority as that is ultimately what you are her re for and financially supporting. Really not fair to you all that are following common sense rules, so I apologize.

Pudgey is making me cry every time she cries!!! 😢 LOL

This episode is a straight up BANGER

A cool detail I love in this episode happens during the hounds trial by combat. If you listen closely, at some pount during the middle of their fight, when their swords clash you can hear an "innocent" in a hissy tone. Perhaps the LoL was making his judgment of the hound then and there. Really adds to the mystery and awe of the religion!

Legit curious where Spartan gets the idea that Robb can have two wives. Polygamy is NOT a thing in the Seven Kingdoms! I think perhaps Aegon Targaryen and his two sister-wives may have thrown him off. But Aegon married his sisters before his conquered the Seven Kingdoms 300 years ago. That's their weird Targaryen shit. Polygamy is not a thing in the Seven Kingdoms. Otherwise Joffrey would just marry Sansa AND Margaery instead of ditching the former. 😂

FYI, Robb does *not* have a Valyrian steel sword. So yeah, he just straight up made a much cleaner cut than Theon did. The Stark family's Valyrian steel sword was with Ned in King's Landing when he died, so it's presumably in the hands of the Lannisters.

Robert Baratheon: What about Aerys Targaryen? What did the Mad King say when you stabbed him in the back? I never asked. Did he call you a traitor? Did he plead for a reprieve? Jaime Lannister : He said the same thing he'd been saying for hours... "Burn them all".

We're all human. Oh, we all do our duty when there's no cost to it. Honor comes easy then. Yet sooner or later in every man's life there comes a day when it's not easy. A day when he must choose. Tell me, if a day ever came when you had to choose between honor on the one hand, and those you love on the other, which would you choose?

Evilsponge

I always liked Jamie, because he is complex. Not totally bad and definitely not totally good. Like there are characters like Ned that have this sense of justice, and that’s fair and respectful but we need characters like Jamie, because we don’t know if he will chose the right or the wrong

Ana

Unpopular opinion: About Jaime's scene, First of all I love Jaime, hope no one gets me wrong. He previously mentioned to Catelyn Stark, when he was her prisoner, that the concept of oaths is exhausting and that you always end up breaking an oath while trying to uphold another. But honestly it is very obvious that Jaime killed the mad king to protect his father, not "the innocent". Jaime stood beside the mad king when thousands of people were being burned alive, and did nothing (I'm not judging, just stating what happened). It was only when the mad king asked for Tywin's head that Jaime acted and killed the king. He definitely saved thousands of lives by doing that, but this was not his motive behind betraying his king. Or otherwise he would have done it much earlier (or later on, it doesn't matter, just not exactly when the mad king asked for Tywin's head. So for countless times, Jaime had a choice between the king and the innocent, and he always chose the mad king, until it became a choice between the king and his father). Jaime was certainly humbled later on with losing his hand and his power and everything and being a captive for over a year, but thinking that he actually cared about the people back when he broke his oath is honestly not very logical. He broke his oath for his father, not for the innocent. Ned said it to his face back in season 1: "is that what you tell yourself at night? That you're a servant of justice? That you were avenging my father when you shoved your sword in Aerys Targaryen's back? You served him well, when serving was safe." Ned meant 2 things: (1) if the mad king still had power and could still beat Robert, the Lannisters would have sided with him, not with Robert, and (2) Jaime would still have served the mad king if the king didn't ask for Tywin's head. This shows that Ned knew Jaime's "side of the story". Ned's opinion on this matter was not only about "abiding by the books and keeping an oath", it was more than that.
