Game of Thrones Full-Length Uncut S3 E4 'And Now His Watch Is Ended'

Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.

Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.

Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.

These reactions DO NOT include our intros and discussions. You will have to refer to the original edited version of the video.

We hope you enjoy the video!

Love Spartan & Pudgey

I’m late, but it seems silly to skip the Joffrey scene. HOTD is a prequel. That’s like skipping chunks of the first three Star Wars movies bc they contain information on what happens in the prequels…

I think he's even more precious to us because we not only respected him dearly but could see how his values were his undoing in the end. So we want to sob for a good man and also for that good man's morals getting the better of him and blinding him. Top-notch storytelling.

Not answering on their behalf but this was an interesting discussion to be had, so I thought I could ponder on that. For me at least whether I like a character more than some other is also a matter of the characters' personality and behaviour in general. I personally like Cersei as a character but since she is always very salty, mean and sometimes cruel to the characters that S&P like, I'm not surprised that they don't like Cersei that much. So there's the matter of liking as a character and liking as a person. And as they pointed out during the reaction, an active character is usually liked better than an inactive/less active one, so they or others might like Theon also more because he tries to proactively do things during the story, even if he ends up doing wrong things, whereas Cersei is bound to the halls of King's Landing and can influence what she can by being a Queen Regent between her father and Joffrey. (I believe they scoffed Cersei for sitting in her tower or something when Jaime was in the mud.) Further, Cersei hasn't shown much remorse or given a backstory that would be a real tear-jerker or particularly sympathy-rousing (it was dealt with in season 1 and only referred back to very briefly later, so they might not remember or relate to it anymore that much, especially since she brings it up with such resentment instead of sorrow), so she might not resonate so much sympathy-wise. If Cersei's softer bits were edited together in a single video where they could see the bits back-to-back, or if she would show her sorrows more often, it might be easier to relate to her for people in general. But she is a woman of steel, puts up a snide front, so naturally we get usually only glimpses. For me, one of Cersei's biggest 'crimes' is the way she is disloyal to Jaime (sleeps with their cousin and probably was in love with Robert in one point (at least based on their discussion in S1 she would have wanted to have a loving husband from him instead of having him as a political match but Jaime as her 'true love'), so her love for Jaime is something not... How should I put it... She can see other options for her in terms of intimacy and affection, whereas Jaime has never even been with anybody but Cersei, etc.). If she was as devoted to Jaime as Jaime is to her, I would probably feel more sympathy towards her. (And yes, obviously she loves Jaime, I'm not questioning that.)

How can you forgive Theon that easy ? He murdered 2 boys and killed Rodrick. One speech and now everything is good ? And then always hate on Cersei. What did Cersei really do ? She just is trashtalking and annoying but not really more.

This is one of my favourite episodes of the entire show! Glad you enjoyed it. In The Hound's defense, he wasn't there to witness what actually happened with the butcher's boy. All he knew is what he was told by Joffrey and/or King Robert. Joffrey lied and said the butcher boy attacked him, and The Hound was commanded to hunt him down. Attacking a prince is a very serious crime, punishable by death. Like he said, it wasn't The Hound's place to question his orders from the prince.

Love when you guys get excited about certain characters being in scenes together. Also completely agree with pudgey, scenes like Cats admission of how she knows she's treated Jon horribly and Theons admission about making the wrong choice really do just add so much depth to the characters and the story.

I had forgotten how good this episode was. I have watched this show I don't remember how many times, and even knowing what is coming, I still got as emotional as Pudgey in ALL the same scenes - Theon's finally recognizing Ned as his "true" father, watching Commander Mormont get killed, and that whole final scene with Daenerys. WOW. 😢 Also, I know this might be a bit confusing because they changed the actor between seasons, but we saw a scene in Season 1 where Ned, as Hand of the King - sitting on the Iron Throne while Robert is gone hunting - orders Lord Beric Dondarrion to go hunt and kill The Mountain. Ned even gives him a bunch of his own men to help on the task.

I love your reactions! This was one hell of an episode.

Y'all have great perspective, love to see your predictions and analysis of everything, looking forward to the next one, been reading the books sinc they came out and watched the show, fun to rewatch

I'm not a mod, but I have to reply all the same on something; Respectfully, that spoiler being removed didn't affect Spartan and Pudgey's experience of the episode, the only new info it gave was the spoiler (no effect on this GoT ep itself). The only thing they missed character-wise was a second-long reaction from Margaery (the mods can spoil them about what that reaction was if they see it relevant), but Joffrey showed his usual side. In other words, preserving the ending of HotD served them more than getting spoiled.

S.

Fantastic reaction guys!!!! To the moderators. You guys are doing a great job with ensuring that there are no spoilers in the comments. Fantastic. However, there is one thing that I must respectfully disagree with you on. And, that is having Spartan & Pudgey skip over a part in this episode because it is a spoiler to the House of the Dragon series that they are watching. The reason why I disagree, everyone who has seen Game of Thrones before Spartan & Pudgey, have watched the spoiler scene of this episode. It's not a spoiler. It's a simple backstory. Nothing more. No one knew that HBO was going to do a prequel series centering around the spoiled scene. At this point, it's all about HOW things happened and WHY. It's no different than HBO doing a Robert's Rebellion series and all of us who watched Game of Thrones, including Spartan & Pudgey, knows that the Mad King dies. It's just a backstory. Letting us know HOW things led up to it and HOW it happened. What will you tell a new reactor that wants to watch Game of Thrones for the first time? Are you going to say, "Don't watch 5 to 10 scenes in the Game of Thrones series, because it will spoil the "Roberts Rebellion prequel series?" Come on? Game of Thrones series touched on a ton of things that could potentially become a prequel. It's not practical to have new reactors not watch scenes in the original series for fear of being spoiled. If HBO decides to put out 10 to 15 prequel series, I daresay that new reactors may never even bother to watch Game of Thrones. For fear of being spoiled. House of the Dragon is just a backstory series. Which was mentioned in Game of Thrones a few times. It's not a spoiler. With respect, I disagree with your take on Spartan & Pudgey having to not watch a particular scene in this episode because it spoils something in House of the Dragon. Again. It's not spoiling. It's just a backstory. Not a spoiler. I am by no means trying to give you moderators, a hard time. NO. That is not my intention. I just wanted to point out an observation from watching this video reaction, and I feel that this was a bit overkill. Again. You guys are doing a great job moderating over Spartan & Pudgey's Game of Thrones reactions. Till next time.

Another one lets get it

Gods be good! However, the Nights Watch takes their oathes for life and the night is still dark and full of spoilers. I am the sword in the darkness! The water on the wall! From this day, until my last day.

SuddenImpulse

"My real father lost his head at Kings Landing" What kind of fictional character makes you cry almost 3 seasons after he dies. Ned was something else man.

HDN

I had forgotten how emotional Theon's scene was - I was really moved by it with you.

S.

Theon.. :(
