Game of Thrones 2x9 Reaction and Review

Comments

With respect. Can you please not spoil things for these guys? I get it. I really do get it. You're just excited as we are, to see their reactions. But, all you are doing, is simply "LEADING THE WITNESS". Please. With all do respect. Allow for these guys to experience the show, just the way you did, when you watched it for the first time. Thank you.

David Watson

Very much so. A lot of people don't notice that (probably due do the surprise of the moment and how much is going on+darkness of the scene). Good eye.

SuddenImpulse

I was also wondering if they noticed that when Loras Tyrell arrived on the battlefield with the Lannisters, he was wearing Renly Baratheon's armor. If you remember back to when he was talking to Margaery and Littlefinger when Renly died he blamed Stannis, so maybe this was one way he could get back at Stannis.

Blackcaiman16

@umu Hani, reality is if they make a habit of ignoring instructions by the mods to remove content from posts, further action will be taken. Some folks unfortunately think that they can just do whatever they want on another persons platform just because they disagree with the rules.

SuddenImpulse

I know GRRM wrote this episode. But I wonder if he wrote that random confrontation between the Hound and Bronn. It reeks of D&D tbh. From the very concept to the dialog, it's straight out of their playbook.

Julien

@Sean Unfortunately far too many people commented about that (like literally 200+ different comments) before we had a more rigorous system in place for when they viewed comments after getting the initial moderation team together so it was not really avoidable..and then as you can see someone else is still aggravating that topic in another post below this one on the main thread. People don't get it.

SuddenImpulse

Everyone is telling you to delete or edit your comment bro just listen it’s not that hard

umu

Yeah I hate the fact that they already have a certain perspective on episode 9s. It takes away from any true surprises

Sean van Hengel

@Tae Well it still hasn't been edited so clearly the OP disagrees.

SuddenImpulse

No dont even tell them how its pronounced, thats what makes it funny, everytime they say it its a different variation, very entertaining haha

Hugh S

@Sudden i completely agree. I hate that people have altered their expectations about any episodes or people in the show. Thier is so much more impact when you just get to experience everything organically. Last night I was going to type out a message that mirrored yours but couldn't quite find all the words because I wanted it short and sweet lol. Keep up the good work

Tae Kellz

I absolutely love your reactions. Pudgy knows exactly what the insinuations are with all the situations...She is a smart girl...i just cannot wait until the episodes go on...Episode 9's are always the worst...its gonna get better and better as the show goes on...I have watched GOT more than 50 times, through, and it never gets old watching people experience it for the first time....Love watching you both!

Mandala Meditation by Gabrielle

Yeah, there are in fact far crazier names than that in Essos. Some chapters of the books in Essos you have to go "really George?" when it comes to some of the names. It's almost like he is purposefully trolling his readers lol.

SuddenImpulse

Yep, even after the devastating losses from the wildfire attack, which no one would have expected, Stannis still would have won this battle handily if it were not for the surprise last minute alliance and timely arrival of the Tywin-Tyrell forces. Kings Landing is also unlike most locations, as it was designed from the ground up to resist a siege, it does not have many weaknesses. One of the few being the mudgate which we see Stannis specifically chose to attack. Stannis really ended up just being incredibly unlucky here. If the Tywin-Tyrell forces had arrived much later than they did, which almost happened in fact, Stannis would have taken Kings Landing. The dialogue for this episode was also particularly good because this was an episode George was directly involved in. Also, I agree with you. I absolutely love Tyrion, and do not want harm to come to him, but this is a one or the other situation in all likeliness. The rest of the Lannisters are horrible, and they generally treat the smallfolk horribly as well. Stannis has plenty of flaws (like all the claimants), but the kingdom would largely be in better hands under him. It is understandable Tyrion sides with his house and his family, but boy is it not a good family to be attached to. Cheering for Tyrion over Stannis is indirectly cheering on the Lannisters rule and all the consequences that derive from that (although I know that is not Pudgey's intention as she hates the Lannisters as well).

SuddenImpulse

@Juliet N Yes I am alright. Look, I understand your comment was well-intentioned. I am not mad at you, and you believed it to be fine, these things happen, but I am going to explain to you why it is falls under #3 on the rules. Every single rule we have is because its resulted from comments that led them to be spoiled on something ALREADY or have caused other people to be spoiled on things in the past. They already shouldn't know about episode 9's, so we don't want to aggravate this further. It's not just there to make people's lives difficult or to powertrip. It is not enjoyable for me or any of the other mods to dog people on these things. It's really not. It's very unpleasant for me in fact and takes time out of my busy day. We post the rules on every video for transparency, and we need to apply them consistently to be fair to everyone. Your comment may seem innocuous and harmless to you, but you have to understand that when they see a *dozen* different people or more commenting statements like you are: "can't wait until episode X" or "can't wait to see how you feel about X character later" that alters their knowledge, their expectations and their reactions because they will be expecting and looking for something to happen in that particular episode in a way they wouldn't normally be, instead if reacting to it in a blind and balanced way. They can figure out things ahead of time in some cases based on surrounding context. The blind experience is the main reason people watch these reactions. We all enjoy these reactions and their experience, but we have to spend many hours deleting countless spoilers (many of you probably don't realize just how many people try to purposefully spoil big things for them because we delete them), both incidental and purposefully posted on youtube to maintain this. If we did not, they would have to have zero interaction with the community like most reaction channels, or they would already know half the story including big spoilers from all the big events in the series. I hope this is sufficient explanation as to why we have this rule. The rest of the comment is fine but not the last sentence. If you can't follow the politely given instructions of the mods here then we will just have to have S&P manually delete it. We have a GoT discord channel where you can discuss any topic in any season with the rest of the community, with spoiler tags. This stuff has been happening too often lately on patreon and is eventually going to result in Spartan and Pudgey just not reading and interacting with Patreon comments altogether, which none of us want to happen.

SuddenImpulse

Ja'qen Is prounounced (Jack'en) (Ha'car) Hope that helps at all. The Essos names can be crazy!! One of my favorite episodes. A mark of big things to come!

Birdseed

Blackwater is one of my all-time favorite GoT episodes. It was great to watch it again with you! And I'm not going to say why, but after watching the ep 8 and ep 9 reactions, I swear to god that Pudgey is psychic.

John Neiberger

I really enjoyed her moment at the end with the doll. Ah, symbolism at its best!

S.

I love this scene. It shows how clever Tywin is. He instantly figures Pycelle out.

Rey Jr

I do want to shout out someone that doesn’t get a lot of attention in this ep, but I really enjoyed Sansa. The way she handled Cersei, the hound, and the women while they were hiding, she was the peacemaker and comforter when Cersei wasn’t, I think really speaks to her character growth.

Franky E

can you please just delete the comment man?

Zeek

Agree with Julien. Seems pretty redundant and unnecessary...

Calu

I don't think anyone should be 'disappointed' in Stannis from the way he attacked. Stannis is a military man(from what we've been shown/told thus far.) Numbers were vastly in his favor so that's likely what he was going on(and in most cases it's good enough to win.) It took multiple sneak attacks & surprises from the Lannisters to overcome this(largely because of Tywin coming in at the end to push the Lannisters numbers up and give them the edge. Also, I don't understand how a person can 'want Stannis to win' and not understand that it means Tyrion dies. There is no Stannis wins/Tyrion lives. He would slaughter all Lannisters(which was said multiple times.) I hate the Lannisters too(all except Tyrion of course) but if it comes down to their defeat(and Tyrions death) or their survival(and Tyrions survival) I'm gonna choose the latter especially if the other side is Stannis(and not someone else I love 1000x more.) Also, this was the best episode up to this point in the series imo. That battle was so freaking epic when it first aired and still holds up.

TimTakDoh

@Juliet N Sure sure. Just had to scratch the itch eh. Even if just by lightly grazing the skin with your fingernails LOL

Gam Mac

3. No cheeky hints/semi-vague remarks about spoiler material, future episodes etc. they can be figured out. You should remove your comment, dont ruin it for the rest.

kevin

Whaaa.. it’s literally based on their apprehension of episode 9s of every season. No spoilers here. Are you alright?

Juliet N

What @Sudden said.

Julien

They mentioned at the Fist that it was obsidian. I don't know if everyone IRL knows that it's volcanic glass but it's fair to clarify. In any event, "dragonglass" conveys the same idea: it's borne of fire.

Julien

I don't get the love this scene. It's hamfisted and I'm glad the showrunners realized and cut it.

Julien

This made me literally laugh out loud because you are normally so composed and deliberate in your comments 😂

Julien

Congrats on making it to Blackwater guys. I truly believe after this episode, the show takes a huge pivotal shift and the show really takes off. Season 3 to me was the season where It went from being just a great show, to becoming the greatest show of all time. Excited to continue watching the journey.

Demo

Please delete the last sentence of your comment and read the spoiler rules that were posted as one of the first comments on this video. We have to apply the rules consistently to everyone. Thank you.

SuddenImpulse

I believe it is stated in the books that there was a situation that could have delayed Tywin and his forces. I can't remember if it was upcoming weather or something else, but if they had been delayed by that, I believe one of the Lannisters states outright that Stannis would absolutely have won and taken over Kings Landing then.

SuddenImpulse

One of the mods here. Yes we can check this for them and see if they are wanting to do this.

SuddenImpulse

@Ersin, fair enough :P

SuddenImpulse

Am surprised by how much Pudgy picked up on. Yeah, things made more sense to me during my second or third watch of this phenomenal series. Can’t wait for episode 9 on the next season…

Juliet N

Not surprised Spartan has become a Stannis Stan

Evilsponge

I love how Spartan said "I feel like we need a battle" before the episode. LOL

Nick Wright

The advantage of the siege is that Tyrion knows the landscape Stannis on the other hand is unfamiliar with it. The wildfire trick was very well done by Tyrion none of the enemy could foresee the unless they had spies. Stannis probably should have won if not for Tywin and the Tyrells. Also Melisandre didn't accompany them on their siege you wonder how she could have helped

Tayyib Majumder

😃❤🙏🏼

CpaSpartan Pudgey

LOL!!!!!

David Watson

Long Time watcher. First Time Commenter. This was a fantastic reaction. I can't wait for your season 2 episode 10 reaction.

David Watson

I know it's a running joke but I haven't heard them say it right even once 😁

Ersin Günay

This episode is a Top 3 of all time best of the show! From beginning to end it's flawless. The guy who attacked Tyrion at the end was a member of the Kingsguard Ser Mandon. Podrick skewered his face like a kebab!

Ersin Günay

You guys are awesome at picking up things, I love that you watch so closely - a great reaction once again!

S.

I’ve seen this episode many times but it was great reliving it again with you guys! Thanks for a fun time!

Daniel Siegel

Delete if not allowed, completely unrelated to this episode but dragonglass is this worlds name for obsidian or volcanic glass.

Hayden King

that's funny, i've also seen this just the other day.

Harvey Orbeta

And it s a good one also, better than any scene of season 8 and it got deleted😂

JonYellowSnow

Funnily enough I've also probably watched GOT (at least the first 5 seasons) 10+ times and I also didn't see that scene until a couple of days ago.

Markus

The brilliance of the whole show is that you can root for people on either side. This is the first of more amazing battles to come. The budget keeps getting bigger each season. Pudgy was right about who slashed Tyrion. It was Mandon Moore, a member of Joffrey's King's Guard. Then Pod, Tyrion's squire stabbed him. I wonder who gave Moore his order to kill Tyrion? Stanis has limited forces because he doesn't have many houses that follow him.

Melissa Gill

A suggestion for you guys, there is a deleted scene that i would love you guys to watch and include it in the s3e1 reaction maybe?. I myself watched GOT 10+ times and discovered it just yesterday and i loved it,maybe your moderator can check before you do. https://youtu.be/Zb-RVIETRCE

JonYellowSnow

It's a community joke friend.

SuddenImpulse

For the millionth time. It's Jaqen, Like Jack-EN, Not Jakka.

Ersin Günay

Gods be good! It is finally here! STANNIS THE MANNIS!!!!

SuddenImpulse
