Comments

yes. Please react to Dark but i think it's Netflix original so youtube wouldnt like that but please do

Unemployed Artist

Anyone else think Spartan & Pudgey would be the perfect reactors for a show as complex as DARK? Or the creators' new show, 1899?

Jamie: "There are no men like me, only me"

Evilsponge

They said that because they are starting to like him and they don't like the Lannisters. It ain't that deep.

Julien

Also, you say Sandor (The Hound) is serving the wrong people. You have to understand in a feudal society; you don't really get to choose who you serve. You're just born into a family that serves another family. And people who betray their oaths get hated by all sides.

Twiska Brand

Can you really blame Jaime for trying to escape his captors? Killing his cousin was too far, in my opinion especially since he was a fellow POW but the guard was an enemy he was at war with.

I prefer the dialog in HOTD. That and the acting are significantly better IMO. But like Rey said above, it's apples and oranges. HOTD is extremely efficient in its storytelling and has no time to waste on GOT-style "when I was a little girl" lengthy monologues. And HOTD is driven by pure storytelling and therefore has no gratuitous scenes that are meant to shock or titillate (with exception of perhaps that one controversial scene at the coronation). The show just relentlessly drives forward with the story without stopping to pander to the audience. Another significant difference is that GOT is often... *funny*. Even Daemon, everyone's favorite rogue, for all his screen presence or wit does not remotely come close to a Tyrion. There are no FUN characters in HOTD. Ultimately I do I prefer GOT but both shows are brilliant.

Julien

You guys may have already heard this suggested before but for the season finale a cosplay of your favorite characters would be fun to see! Love the reaction as well

Jeezleberry

I think the variety is the key difference, and that it's really an apples-and-oranges situation.

I know he knew what his men where gonna do. Matter of fact I never said he didn’t? He could’ve still had that reaction out of pure shock. They burnt those boys to a CRISP and it’s one thing to say what you’re gonna do but to actually see it is another. There’s little moments in his whole taking of winterfell that shows he’s obviously more focused on gaining respect and admiration and not used to the Ironborn brutality that comes with it. Hell when he was speaking to the crowed at first he seemed so confident in showing the bodies. But once he SEES the two, innocent children he ordered to be executed in sub for the stark boys; so burnt to crap they had limbs missing, it would be enough to make a man like Theon have that “good god what did I do” look.

To be fair, even Cercei seems to be taken back at how cruel his son actually is. So in that regard, i think Pudgeys question was fair. Aaand i'm pretty sure it was as rhetorical one, since both Pudgey and Spartan are quite aware how the rules of succession work in GoT (They had a lot of practice with House of the Dragon + lore videos + mod help ) - Also, i genuinely feel like they give ALL the characters their fair share, even the Lannisters. They really dig Tywin, gave Jaimie the benefit of the doubt and even empathized with Cercei.

Petteri Ahlberg

this was a great scene and one that needs some thought but was honestly great showing the contradictions between the grey area of what people deem good and what they deem evil

CpaSpartan Pudgey

I think the Dialog was fantastic in Hotd

Rey Jr

I really liked the reaction. But sometimes you could be a bit more neutral with the Lannisters. Like when Cersei said she knows that Joffrey is a horrible person. Pudgey said:“then why would you make him King ?“ I think it is quite obvious why. First of all he is her child. She still loves him. Second of all he is the rightful Heir. So of course he has to be King. I mean she can not say that Joffrey is a bastard. And third of all Cersei does not really decide who is the King and who is not.

Rey Jr

No he knew that's what they were gonna do. Thats why he sent Maester Luwin away otherwise the deception wouldnt have worked.

I am hoping you guys speak a little on Jaime's oath dialogue in the intro to your next episode. I'd love to hear both of your thoughts on that a bit more. HOWEVER, you should only discuss what comes to you organically of course, and I know there was a LOT to discuss in the post-episode discussion for this one, but it is something I was a bit surprised you guys didn't have some back and forth on, but I am glad you gave that scene your full attention all the same. I think Jaime makes a very interesting point there about oaths and how society views those who break them. It was also fun seeing your eyes get big when Tyrion mentions Stannis' navy is quite large and seems to be a nearing and looming threat to the city.

I hope the youtube comments are as nice as you guys are about this. All of this is explained in the show in more subtle ways, but there is so much going on I get why for a new viewer this isn't something on the forefront of their mind with everything else they need to pay attention to and consider with each episode. Lots of information overload.

SuddenImpulse

Yes Game of Thrones got to cheat a bit because so many of the better dialogues in the show (though not all) are ripped right out of the books. House of the Dragon doesn't have that same luxury, but I think it has done a fine job. The writing is still better than a fair few shows. I think it will also improve in season 2, where they aren't having to, as another said, do some info dumping due to trying to do so much setup in 10 episodes and with multiple time jumps and establishing characters.

SuddenImpulse

This can be interpreted differently, but I think Theon’s look at the end was of pure shock. HE didn’t find “bran and Rickon” and HE didn’t kill them, his men did. I think the clear brutality of seeing those two children burned beyond recognition horrified him just like everyone who saw it, but of course he couldn’t show that.

I just want to stress Julien's point because you guys keep asking yourselves "why?" every other episode. Daenerys's dragons are the most valuable commodity in the world. Not just as future weapons of war, but, as Julien pointed out, because of the re-birth of magic that they represent. EVERYBODY, not just the warlocks, would want those dragons. The difficulty of Dany's current predicament is that her dragons are too small to defend themselves, and she doesn't have the resources, or man power, to properly protect them, so she can only rely on her famous last name and the hope that people would not betray her. That is why Dany did not want to show the dragons to The Thirteen when they asked to see them - they are her children, not trinkets or a circus act to be used for display. The dragons are the only reason they let her in. They are the reason why Xaro wanted to marry her, and they are the reason why the warlocks want her.

Calu

i LOVE when her voice gets all raspy

Nana-Afia

Yea, that's true. I think mostly because Fire&Blood isn't written the same way ASOIAF is. There are a few badass/quotable lines tho. GOTs wayy better tho

xPirate91

i never really liked the dialogs in HotD , they all just feel like info dump

Quentin Carbonnel

Dialog (at least for me) is what gives GOT the edge over HotD. HotD has good Dialog for sure but the sheer level of characters/POVs & variety of character interactions puts GOT on another level. Always been a fan of Jaimes Dialog (don't hate me). The difference between how both we, the viewers & the people of Westeros perceive him juxtaposed with how he perceives himself. His view on the complexities of keeping multiple oaths/vows is uhh... to quote you guys... Interesting lol. Cersei opening up to Tyrion and awkwardly wanting to be consoled by him. Then even more awkwardly, Tyrion not knowing how to is Gold (lol 😉). Don't know how Michelle Fairley didn't win an Emmy for her portrayal as Catelyn Stark. She steals almost every scene she's in. Enjoying tagging along for a rewatch 🤙🔥💯

xPirate91

So this was the ep the notorious "You know nothing, Jon Snow"-line came from. Honestly, I'm having a blast re-watching this serie with you guys. I find myself looking forward to each episode lately, see you on the next one!

Shonen

Regarding why the warlocks would want the dragons, I think perhaps the show has done a poor job of conveying that dragons aren't just giant instruments of war; they are also magical creatures. In that regard, it makes sense that warlocks and other sorcerer types would be interested in them, even as they are still tiny. Wonderful reaction as always. Your perspective has significantly elevated my enjoyment of an episode I didn't particularly like. This episode presents what I felt at the time were significant and unnecessary departures from the source material and I was too dismayed by those to fully enjoy it. Quality reactions like these really help appreciate this adaptation on its own terms and for that I am grateful. 👍

Julien

The fact tht u guys r working full time and r pumping out content at this rate. Fair fken play, you guys deserve all the success and attention ur getting!! 100k on yt soon

Murshete

All excellent points.

SuddenImpulse

I know dany seems bratty, but all shes ever known in life is to be suspicious of people. Viserys and her were orphans so when jorah says to trust him its understandable that shed be cautions. She also learnt he was in love with her so that's soops awkward lol. Also, i bet you that guy with dany (the name with 3 x) has said a story about 'where hes been' to Dany every scene hes in, I'd be sick of it too 😂

Nana-Afia

Both avatar and GoT releasing in a single drop. These two are working hard. Lets give them a little applause folks! Busy busy!
