House of The Dragon S1 E9 Reaction & Review

Comments

The burning house was the White worm's, Lary's sent his people to burn it down and kill her and Alicent approved of it, that wasn't Otto. And also yes Alicent and Larys have a foot fetish arrangement.

Please don't mention the episode titles ahead of the episode airing. Reactors usually avoid those for a reason. I know it was well-intentioned, so it's not a big deal, but try to keep in mind for the future. Appreciate it.

OF COURSE Alicent knows, she more than knows, she was expressly giving Larys more of more of what he wanted in exchange for information. I don't understand how anyone wouldn't get this. I adore these reactions but Spartan can be so obstinately thick sometimes. Alicent was OPENLY, EXPRESSLY giving him what he wants. Why on earth do you think she first took off her shoes, put her feet on the table, as he was hesitating with information later, removed her socks? Then she turns around, lifts her skirt so her feet are well visible and she looks thoroughly distressed and disgusted while he is beating off? How much clearer could they possibly have made that scene? Have her literally spell out "I am showing you my feet in exchange for information"? To get information or action from Larys, she has to put out. It means showing her feet and letting him jack off to them, at least from what we've seen to far (I truly hope that's as far as it goes...). Also her line when he showed up ("the hour is quite late") is the same she gave many episodes ago when Viserys had her called over to fuck. It set the tone for the scene.

The show explains the regular exits were barred and guarded.

I'm pretty sure Alicent knew what Larys was doing. Started with her shoes, and then her socks to get information out of him and then giving him permission to get rid of the white worm. I'm also pretty sure that it wasn't Otto burning down the White Worms residence but one of Larys tongueless conhorts. It appears to be their mode of assasination.

yea fire and blood the book is not really focused JUST on these events thats why the time jumps is like this in the show, fire and blood is a book that tells the story of aegons conquest and all the events that happened afterwards with the targaryens, alot of the details we are given in the show is way more ambiguous in the books, it really just tells one story them moves on the the next generation of targaryens and then tells about what happened in there time.

Yeah, that floor was solid rock/stone, as was the ceiling of the dragon pit. Can a dragon really just bust up through that?? Just doesn't seem likely. I would have preferred her to bust in through the doors and walk straight down the center - letting the poor townsfolk ample opportunity to get out of the way - and then ... I mean, roasting them all would have been epic, sure. I'm only happy she didn't because now we get the next episode with ALL the dragons. The time jumps and writing really have been super inconsistent. Is there just one book? Maybe I should read that, ultimately.

It's just another way he's using Alicent. If you've read book you know there's multiple claims about how the Strongs died but Larys makes sense and why. The show has to choose an objective reality as the books written as a history not a POV like GOT

Hugh S

That is such an exaggeration lmao like literally how? there are valid arguments on both sides about the ending but to say it Jumped the shark just shows you've been content to hate the show from the beginning and because it's been good so far you've been quiet but now that a question mark has popped up you're frothing at the mouth. Still better than Season 5-8 GOT writing

Tyson Wilson

I said it on the other video, but the ending was so stupid, the writing so bad, that Iโ€™ve decided to just read the book. Iโ€™ve let a lot of stupid stuff in this show slide, but that was jump the shark bad.

Great reaction. But honestly I didn't enjoy this episode that much, it felt like such a comedown after the last couple episodes. I can't stand Mysaria's angle of 'save the children' despite running a prostitution ring where she would ask if Daemon would prefer a virgin girl, I also can't stand her accent. Sonoya Mizuno has a completely normal english accent I don't why she or the show insisted on this mangled french accent, every line of her dialogue comes out sounding cartoonish. Then lastly the Rhaenys at the dragon pit was just the show shoehorning in spectacle for the sake of it, they used a completely different door for the dragons to enter in the first episode when Rhaenyra flew down to meet Alicent. Why couldn't she have just escaped that way instead of busting up through the floor killing all these people just to have an ultimately pointless stare at the Hightowers. Hope episode 10 is better.

Yutawq

No it wouldn't๐Ÿ˜‚ Just wait and enjoy!

Robin Nussbaumer

This was Rhaenys' episode though, #TeamRhaenys since ep 1

They should have let Rheyns kill one of the hightowers at the end. Maybe Otto. That would have been a better ending.

I'm really disappointed with what Larys' character has become. Since he was the sneaky/intellectual one, his brother was a knight, and his father the hand (temporarily), I was really looking forward to seeing those family dynamics and their relationships. But then he kills his family and turns out to be a massive creep. Not that I'm kink shaming foot fetishes, but Larys just turned into a bad guy all around.
