How do you think Jack Gleeson, the actor who portrays Joffrey felt walking around in public after this episode aired? I am really enjoying watching this with you two again. I read the books before watching my first time and its hard to keep spoilers from people who hadn't read books. My son and his wife were just like you two, so upset that Ned was killed.

I was waiting to post this comment until you uploaded the season 1 finale. Ive always viewed this episode as the true initiation for a viewer into the game of thrones series and world. The series will take you two on a journey of every emotion you can think of, and sometimes give you emotions you couldn't fathom. I won't say anything else, but im looking forward to following this journey y'all are going on. Buckle your seatbelts. Much like the first season of the House of the Dragon, this season of GOT and this episode in particular is just the first domino to fall and set off a chain reaction of chaos and beauty.

Not to be contrarian, but literally his final act was to break his honor, i.e by lying about Joffrey being a bastard so he could save Sansa...

I remember watching this episode and being exactly like you guys…. just sitting there like don’t you dare kill Ned, you can’t kill Ned this early! and then seeing that sword come down, my jaw literally hit the floor.
But I’m looking forward to seeing you guys again for season 2 and it’s also worth mentioning that after the success of season 1, the second season got a lot more money and resources to make for an even better show! 👍

Worth mentioning that as the seasons go we will be seeing battles in full instead of the before/after like this episode did. The budget went through the stratosphere after this season.

Rewatching this episode and watching what looks to be a crazy one for HOTD on the same day!
Even knowing what was happening, I still welled up from Sansa and Arya's reactions. Sophie and Maisie nailed it.

Indeed. I got so emotional when this happened. Most people did. A lot of people said they were done watching this show after, but we all know how that went. Most people ended up realizing they needed to know what happened after this and got hooked and the rest is history...

Pudgey crying is exactly how most fans felt in real time when the show aired on tv many years ago. I cannot wait to see more reactions to certain episodes lol

Ned was too honorable in the world of Game of Thrones. Honorable men don't 'play the game' and pay the price

As messed up and disrespectful as that is, it may have been for the best given how sharp and deep cutting Valyrian steel is. In actual history, beheadings were often not done the way they are shown in films and such. It usually took multiple strikes to decapitate someone...part of why the french invention of the guillotine became so famous. It allowed this to be done quickly, cleanly, and efficiently.

One of my favorite moments in the show honestly. He acted the heck out of that scene. You can really feel the emotion and gravitas in it. This is also one of the times where the show version is actually better than the book version, because they extended out his speech and improved upon it a bit.

I feel like this isn't a good thing to tell new people because it sets expectations instead of having them react naturally to the season. It's kind of like an indirect spoiler.

I know you started with House of the Dragon, but it was always tradition for us to welcome newcomers to the real world of ASOIAF after this episode. You're no longer a Sweet Summer Child now. The rest of this series only gets much more intense

Interesting thing about the sword they use to cut Ned's head is the Stark's ancestral Valaryan sword, Ice. You seen Ned use it in the 1st episode beheading the Night's watch deserter.

The parallel of Ned cutting off the head of the "deserter" from the nights watch and to have his own head taken for "treason". GOT is nothing if not poetic

The episode everyone was waiting for you to react to. Now you know how we all felt. In the books, we actually see the battle scenes, but for budget reasons, they had to cut away, which is why Tyrion gets knocked unconscious.Tyrion has some pretty epic moments and on Jaime's battle you get to see himwreck people.

Finally, you guys are getting to know the real GoT experience 😂 But that's what makes this show the masterpiece that it is, some moments are epic and other make you bawl your eyes out. Can't wait for ep10 reaction! Usually the thing with GoT is that in ep9s something shocking happens and then episode 10 is amazing. 😊
