i find it hard to hate aemond much? i feel like he's being set up as one of the main antagonists in the future (haven't read the books so no idea), but i think his actions are mostly justified given these are the same kids that singled him out and made his childhood awful. it seems they can give but can't take from him and always resort to physical violence when he outwits them verbally

Yes this was it. The woman in the cloak was Daemon's old paramour, Mysaria. Tyla, the other servant girl, is spying for her. So it is very possible this whole seemingly recurring situation with Alicent's son Aemon is going to be exposed at some point or used as blackmail.

Yep. It's a superstition of the smallfolk. It isn't anything that has been proven however. It hasn't been particularly consistent, historically.

The relative happiness in the dinner scene is really nice in its own right, while adding to the tragedy in the larger scope. It's great to see those characters as people just having a shared experience. And that's where I really empathize with Viserys, idealistic as it may be.
If the mods feel this is a bit too much to say, I can remove it: There's a lot about love and duty in these stories. I think Viserys wanted both of them in equal measure; he wanted them to be harmonious, as he wanted the people around him to be. I think there's something profound in examining how someone might go through life striving for a balance like that.
On the not-so-harmonious level, I think Aemond is oddly fun to watch. Every time I revisit this episode, I chuckle when he takes that epic pause before saying "strong."

The scene with the lady in the cloak visiting daemons old fling was confusing and out of place to me at first but I believe it was just the queens maid going to tell her about Diana getting raped by the prince.

Good point about how Visery’s last words will divide his family the most! I didn’t think about it like that. So tragic and ironic that all he wanted was to unite his house, and yet inadvertently sets into motion the conflict with his dying breath

Awesome job Pudgey learning all the names and who is married to whom. It can be confusing but fantastic job! Spartan, my bro, you need to learn from Pudgey :) She is doing great. You guys have met only a very, very small fraction of HOTD and GOT characters.
There are lots of Aegon’s in this world. GRRM has said the history of England is the history of Henry’s and Edward’s. The history of Westeros is the history of Aegon’s.

The thing about cutting yourself on the throne being a bad omen for the king comes from the books (I’m pretty sure), I don’t think they explicitly mention it in the show. I only know about it from other people’s comments online lol.
