Okay so here's a rough mockup of how characters will function. This is all subject to change obviously but this is a rough idea of how things will work. To keep things simple and clear, character will have 3 slots where they can modify their character abilities. For now, the 3 ability categories being: Attack, Defense and Magic.
Characters will start with unique abilities and stats, you'll obtain enhancements or artifacts to modify your abilities further. This will give you the freedom to customize your character in a variety of ways.
Attack Abilities
Got a rogue with fast attack and high crit damage? Add a counter attack enhancement so each time he gets hit he automatically counter attacks. ( One of my most favorite abilities ever! ) Or take a champion who already has high HP and add a Berzerk enhancement ( Do more damage the lower you health gets ).
Defense Abilities
Maybe you want to make a super tank so you just stack Armor points, Hitpoint or add a Blocking enhancement. Maybe a magic resistances?
Magic Abilities
Magic has infinite possibilities obviously. Cast attacks that ignore armor, use poisons, fire, lighting and healing spells. Or use crowd control spells and freeze your enemies.
Oh man so many ways to do this!
