About 0.2.3 Alpha and work on it, PREVIEWS and update on UPDATER features

Yo, guys!

I must say I'm happy to finally be able to release the Alpha. During the last week, a lot of good things for its progress happened, and it's all done. I must say I was quite stressed at the start of the last week - I got stuck between a rock and a hard place. There were 2 versions of the renpy engine available - stable (saves from 0.2.2 couldn't load), and unstable (64-bit windows didn't launch). It was a shitty choice that I didn't want to make, but I got lucky with contacting PyTom, renpy creator, and we (well, he, I was mostly talking) managed to solve the problems in the unstable branch. And here comes the Alpha. 


Well, the new problem was that on 'small' devices like phones the game will be unplayable due to the interface being off-screen. But we've also got this fixed already yesterday, but without a test, I won't release a new version on the untested renpy version. I did once, and I regret it. Denker did a full playthrough on the current renpy version, for beta, we'll test the next version. Since I'm now in contact with PyTom it's gonna be easy and fast fixing renpy bugs.


As said before, the new release system includes updates to the content with each branch. That means that Beta will come with more events and content! It will have events for Lexi and Mina. The rest? Surprise~

I've also been researching web updater. There was an unexpected issue, games over 2GB will download all files when updating.... Well, I found a workaround, PyTom also said that renpy will support games over 2GB soon. But my workaround works too! I managed to run the updater, and it did its thing. I also managed to get JSON and TXT files from my server, so it means I can make new cheat codes without new releases! Don't worry, the game doesn't require and will never require an internet connection to function. If it can't download new codes, it'll use the ones from when it last connected the server or the ones from when this release came up, as all releases will come with up-to-date codes.


Talking about server, I decided to move on from the hosting I got, into a server I rented from my friend with a 1 Gb connection. The previous one had a limit per single user when downloading files, and I couldn't change server settings. Now there are no limits, yay! I'll also be moving docs over there, so the previous changelog site won't be updated, as I'll be moving it before 0.2.3 is public. For now, all changelogs will be in release posts. I'll also add 0.2.3 - alpha changelog to the bottom of this post.


I've got so 'high' on success with web code I even considered if I could make PvP online mode in AL, an arena. And I decide that it's possible but very time-consuming. And I would probably need another server for this to ensure fluid gaming. Anyway, I better stop myself from flowing too far into the future and stay more on the ground.
