0.1.9 Preview/Info

I know you're impatient for new version, but don't worry, you'll be able to enjoy it on 15th September, for me it's nine days from now. As you know new version completely reworks combat, and all other mechanics that were closely related to it, eq. cards. Most things (besides combat) look similar or the same as before, I've tried to avoid confusion by making everything be the closest to what it was, although internally many things work different. 

Besides many changes - SAVES ARE COMPATIBLE. Not all, though. 

1. Rollbacking before save was loaded when changing version (eq. load game, and rollback immediately) might cause error on combat as save compatibility done during loading might be reversed, it's how renpy works, I can't change this. So after changing version, don't rollback before loading. If you want to replay some event, use replays at the pc.
2. As combat was 100% made from the scratch, old saves inside the combat will raise an error, ignoring it might allow to continue in some cases, but if you have only one save, and it's inside of battle, then load it in 0.1.8 and save outside of combat.

After 0.1.9 will come 0.1.10. It will be released along with 0.1.9 public, that is 27th September. It will become public on 9th October, with the next alpha following just after it.

That practically means that in October there will be 2 public releases on 9th, 21th.

I didn't include beta and prerelease branches to not make this post too long, when new versions occur, info when it will enter these branches will be available on Patreon public page, and discord #downloads channel. 

I would also like to tell you that date of 0.2.0 alpha and later are estimates. I believe that I can finish dungeon system by this time. 0.2.0 was originally supposed to come out much earlier, but combat v2 came as a priority. And works on combat v2 took much more than I've estimated at the beginning. When planning it I didn't plan the need to change all related mechanics, and to redo combat from the scratch. But the final result is much more advanced than planned, something lost, something gained. 

I've decided to make more releases, I've lost my job, so I have more time now. That's why I want to make release every 12 days. I don't know if I can keep this high tempo in case of big releases like 0.2.0, just testing it will probably take 2/3 days. But for minor ones, I believe I can do it for the time being. 

It's pretty far into the post, but I would like to say that I'm sorry there were so little posts lately. I don't tend to make prior posts, when I write a new post it usually comes out within an hour. With latest stuff. By the time to write post I was already half-asleep. I was so tired because of some bureaucracy issues, I was dealing with government agencies due to a few important requests/cases. In here we have a joke - "Someone went to government agency and arranged everything." I don't know if I've translated it correctly, but you should get opinion of local agencies from this. 

To make it up to you all I'll be posting everyday till 0.1.9 release. If you want to not receive some notifications here's a guide how to disable them. You can disable notifications for specific Creator. 

All wallpapers and new codes will be releases along with Alpha. 

Preview part

It was quite a long read without any images to look at. But I didn't want to mix both parts. I do have quite a few images to show you, let's start from the player. 

These two are images of the player from the new combat system. The first one is idle stance, the second is the player starting a puch. The original thought was to make it so that when you attack with some puch related card animation of punching occurs. But player animation system is something I don't know if I will include. After you play a while, you'll start to know what cards do, without reading their description. So if you use two cards in an instant, you'll see some weird 'jumping' animation. So I think player won't have these animations, enemies & allies will be animated though, they don't execute a few actions one after another. 

Remember when I've said that I've tried to make stuff look as it was? Cards look almost the same, but they have some additions, target circles. 

What are these? They indicate what being is affected by the card. I think it's not complicated. One thing to learn is that blue guy means player, green any member of the team (including player). Player and team need to be separated because some cards don't make sense when used on ally, like cards that forbid card usage, or increase cards drawn each turn. These cards will always be used on player, even if someone else is selected. 

Dragon was significantly changed:

Wait... Dragon Might? Yeah, that's the new status effect I was talking about! And it's powerful addition for bleeding/poison build!

EDIT: When proofreading the second time I've noticed that card description is wrong saying it will destroy the card lol. Fixed already. 

Each attack dealing bleeding and burning is a powerful buff.

Now that we're talking about cards, I've added a new button to the pc, it shows a menu of all cards in the game. You can check what card will do the best job in your deck. 

For people that didn't play 0.1.8 - What's new is a new feature that introduces new additions each version, it exists to show you what new events/features look after. As there will not be a lot of story events till 0.2.0. Most new events will be repeatable events, like helping girls with chores, or perhaps chilling out with them. New combat mechanics, enemies, and cards. New exploration events, and dreams. These events are not in the journal, so that you know exactly what was added, without reading long changelogs, you can just read what's new that appears when first playing a new version.
