Last Human: Episode 5 (Devlog 2)

Hey everyone! I know, I usually post these on weekends but the first devlog was posted back on the 28th. So, I figured it was time to give you an update. Besides, this update should make you happy ;)

Last Human: Episode 5 coding is now complete; minus a few scenes I want to tweak during rendering and animating. Main thing is... the episode is written and ready to roll. Now we just need some pretty images to go with it. And this is <ahem> well ahead of schedule right now! I normally spend several weeks on the coding, but I knew what I wanted to do with this episode. Once I got started, I just rolled with it.

What to expect in episode 5? I'll try to do this without too much spoiling. As you know, we were 'banging' the girls in order as MC met them (or as they 'claimed' him as "pet"). I know now that choosing to do it that way was probably silly and now, I wish I hadn't made such a big deal out of the order. But it is what it is, and we just have 2 left anyway - Alaina and Queen Tessa. Admittedly, some girls got longer, more detailed scenes than others. This was not intentional. But I'll make up for that with future events with different girls. Alaina and Tessa will be "taken care of" in this episode. Alaina has a rather long section because I decided to write a bit more story for her. I felt like she sort of got left behind. I think you'll enjoy it and maybe if you weren't such a fan of her before, you might be after this episode.

Tessa's event isn't quite as long but will be sexy and fun. I'm trying to create sex scenes with more animations and positions, along with camera angles, etc... Although Last Human was never meant to be focused purely on sex (like Serenity), episode 5 has quite a bit of it. Moving forward, episodes will usually have 1 or 2 sex scenes each depending on the situation. This is an "adult" VN after all, so there will always be plenty of NSFW content in the story.

Beyond Alaina and Tessa, we'll run into a few other girls... Cindy (the clumsy big boobed shorty), Nia, and Mary. These girls are mainly 'extras' for some fun and silly situations outside of the usual plot stuff. Don't take it too seriously... just have fun with it.

I'm starting on rendering tonight. There are fewer scenes, but longer than my normal scenes. With fewer scenes, that means I am working in the same space for more images which is actually faster than a lot of short scenes where the atmosphere/background and setting has to be changed. Once I have a setting all setup the way I want it, the posing, facial expressions, and even the animation setups are just a lot quicker to roll through. I've gotten pretty fast at setting up poses fairly accurately, with the only slowdown being hands and fingers. Posing hands and fingers takes just a bit longer because I hate to see fingers clipping into things or looking awkward.

Someone brought up a graphics issue where Rin's leg looks jagged in one particular render from episode 4. No, that is not normal, but I think I know why that happened. It's due to the dark background behind her leg. You need light in these things in order to have pretty renders and there probably should have been more in that scene. But I wanted it to be dimly lit because it was his room and night time. When I opened that scene up and put a light source on the floor/wall behind her leg, the jagged lines went away. Yes, this is a minor thing for the most part... but if it was a sex event, that would have been a bigger deal to me. So, I probably won't redo that entire scene just for that one image. That could be a week or two worth of work which would set me back and I'm trying to get this update done as soon as I can.

That's it for now guys and gals. I'm sorry I don't have a preview to post with this. I haven't done any rendering yet (as I said, I'll start on some of that tonight).
