Life Update
Added 2021-05-13 17:11:08 +0000 UTCHey guys, I wanted to let you know of a recent development in my life. I'm transitioning off of disability benefits and I'm going back to work. While I would love to make Patreon my fulltime job I don't make enough for that to be a possibility right now, so I've been looking for a out of home job. I had an interview a few days ago and it seems like I got the position (I had to take an assessment which is pass/fail and will have my job offer next week unless things didn't go to plan) so I'll be closing down commissions unless I need extra cash. Cal is also transitioning out of their job due to some very personal mental health matters.
I know I could just take commissions all the time but in reality it's not a stable income. I don't make enough and if I raise my prices, like I've done in the past, I don't get any business and if you break it down, I wasn't even making minimum wage and was working 7 days a week. I was stressed and tired and could never work on my fan comics or write short stories. So after several long conversations with Cal, I decided to find an out of home job so I can close commissions and still work on Patreon, the comics, and my short stories. I'm not giving up on art but I can't put myself or my family (Cal and our kitties) at financial risk, I won't do that. But who knows! There might come a time down the road I make enough on Patreon I can leave that job and devote myself entirely to my art again, which would be lovely.
Anyway, I wanted to let y'all know of the good and bittersweet news. I hope y'all are doing well, I know it's finals and exams going on so good luck if you have those going on!
