its legitimately hilarious as an adult. Never noticed it as a kid. :D

That's the thing, whether you like or dislike something: It's Inherently Subjective! But when I compare these two versions and disregard the, obviously, better visuals of the 2005 version, I prefer the acting, directing and screenwriting of the 2005 version. The 1971 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory' makes me cringe hard in these aspects...

A truly scrumptious reaction. You three are the best antidote to the Winter blues.

How can you say that?
The 2005 version imo was terrible. lol Each to there own I guess.

It's a classic. But, personally, I prefer the 2005 version 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' by director Tim Burton :)

Grandpa Joe, the true villain of the movie. Spends decades "sick" in bed while his family starves all while he's perfectly capable of helping, but choosing not to.

Yeah. You can't think about his character too much or it gets you mad. Stays in bed for 20 yrs when the mom and Charlie are working hard every day. Then candy gets thrown in the picture and he's magically healed 😄

Just watched this and the wizard of oz. Great reactions! You guys should do some 21st century live action musicals now. Like (2019) Aladdin or (2017) The Greatest Showman 🎩

I'm so glad you guys watched this. The version with Timothee Chalamet is good, but this original is such a classic. I've watched it maybe 20 times since i was a little kid, and it never gets old. Such a perfect combination of honest, heartfelt storytelling, and absurd and hilarious comedy. Plus one of the greatest musical soundtracks of the era. If you want more classic American musicals like this I'd recommend The Music Man, and West Side Story

We need to come up with a list of Christmas movies if they haven't got one. Movies like A Christmas Story, Elf, Jingle All The Way and Die Hard.

This is a terrifying movie! Bits of it have haunted me 😂
Now, if The Munchies react to more Gene Wilder (specifically with Richard Pryor), that would be the jackpot 👊🏻
(in fact, I’m going to call it out now - Munchies reaction to Kubrick’s 2001. Potentially off the charts! 😂).

Besides all the remakes of this film, I still see memes from the original all the time.
Does anyone else remember the 90's grunge band - VERUCA SALT - named after the spoiled girl from this film?

I have to admit that I was never a big fan of this movie. A fact that even the Tim Burton/Jonny Depp version from 2005 couldn't change.
But my children love this movie. Unfortunately they are still too young and don't understand English that well. Otherwise I would have watched the reaction with them.
Can Katie speak a little German? Because when Willy Wonka spoke German she figured it out so quickly.
That was a wonderful reaction ladies!💜

I remember this movie being really scary as a child, You essentially see a child get shrunk, exploded, incinerated and then another child drowned lol

Fun Fact: After reading the script, Gene Wilder said he would take the role of Willy Wonka under one condition: that he would be allowed to limp and then suddenly somersault in the scene when he first meets the children.
