Kousen carried his lunch tray from the cafeteria, pushed open the door to the Student Council room, and found everyone already seated around the table, seemingly waiting for him.
“Kousen-kun is here! Hurry and sit, you’re the last one.”
Mayumi immediately waved, signaling Kousen to take a seat quickly.
“Sorry, a teacher suddenly needed to talk to me, so I’m a bit late.”
Kousen clasped his hands together in apology.
“Vice President Hattori isn’t here yet?” Kousen looked around, not seeing Hanzou, and asked with slight confusion.
“Hanzou-kun usually doesn’t eat lunch here, so it’s just us this afternoon.”
Everyone ate and laughed, with no intention of discussing serious matters during the meal.
However, since most of those present were girls, the meal took quite a while. By the time everyone finished, half of the lunch break had already passed.
“Alright, since we’re done eating, let’s discuss the important matters first!”
After finishing her meal, Mayumi dropped her friendly smile and adopted a serious tone, as if entering a formal negotiation.
Kousen and Miyuki nodded in response. As for Tatsuya, he felt it had nothing to do with him, so he didn’t react.
“The school prioritizes students’ self-awareness, which is why the Student Council holds significant authority here.”
“The Student Council President even has the power to amend school regulations within certain limits.”
“Moreover, most committee chairs in the school are appointed or dismissed by the Student Council President.”
“However, my Disciplinary Committee is different.”
Mari continued Mayumi’s explanation.
“My Disciplinary Committee is formed based on recommendations from three parties: the Student Council, the club alliance, and the faculty. So, in a sense, my authority is equal to Mayumi’s.”
Tatsuya and Miyuki nodded again, indicating they understood.
“It’s also a yearly tradition that the freshman representative is highly likely to be invited to join the Student Council, primarily to train successors.”
“However, while freshmen who join the Student Council are trained as successors, it doesn’t guarantee they’ll take office, though the likelihood is high.”
“So, typically, the Student Council only takes one first-year student each year.”
Miyuki and Tatsuya’s gazes instinctively drifted toward Kousen.
Kousen smiled, unfazed. “I’m indeed an exception. Alright, let’s continue listening to the President.”
“So, Saegusa-senpai joined as the freshman representative!”
Kousen took the chance to praise Mayumi.
“Hm.”
Mayumi responded softly, her face flushing. Though she often received praise from seniors and admiration from peers, Kousen’s compliment made her a bit flustered.
“Ahem… So, Miyuki-san, I hope you’ll join the Student Council.”
“Are you willing to accept this invitation?” Mayumi clenched her right hand near her mouth, cleared her throat slightly, adjusted her expression, and continued.
Miyuki glanced at Tatsuya with an inquiring look, and Tatsuya responded with an approving expression.
After receiving Tatsuya’s signal, Miyuki paused briefly. When she looked up, her face showed a hint of excitement.
“President, do you know Onii-sama’s entrance exam scores? His written test score was perfect.”
Mayumi nodded. “I know! There’s never been a student with a perfect written test score before, but this year, there are two.”
After speaking, Mayumi glanced at Kousen.
Kousen subtly shook his head, signaling Mayumi not to reveal that he was the other one.
Mayumi winked, indicating she understood.
The Shiba siblings were already somewhat wary of him. If they knew his true scores, their caution would surely increase, which wasn’t what he wanted.
“Two people?”
A question mark appeared in Miyuki’s mind, her expression turning slightly panicked. She had intended to recommend her brother for the Student Council based on his excellent written test scores.
This would allow her brother to showcase his talents on a bigger, better stage.
Tatsuya’s expression also showed slight surprise. He knew his own capabilities well. Mastering so much knowledge at his age was entirely due to his superhuman intellect.
But now, there was someone else who could match him.
Mayumi’s glance wasn’t too obvious, and Tatsuya’s attention wasn’t fully focused, so it hadn’t been exposed yet.
At Magic High School, only the combined score rankings were announced. Specific individual scores were sent only to the students themselves.
Miyuki’s heart was in turmoil, unsure whether to continue.
But after a moment, her emotions overpowered her rationality.
After all, she didn’t believe an unknown student could be more impressive than her brother, as in her heart, her brother was the strongest and most perfect.
Except for his slight emotional rigidity.
“I’m deeply grateful, honored, and proud of your invitation to join the Student Council.”
“But could Onii-sama also join the Student Council?”
“If it’s administrative work, I believe Onii-sama, with his perfect written test score, would be more suitable, as it has nothing to do with practical scores—knowledge mastery and analytical skills are more important.”
Tatsuya sighed, covering his face.
Mayumi also felt troubled, unsure how to proceed with this topic, as the junior before her was speaking impulsively.
However, Ichihara Suzune had no such concerns as Mayumi. She spoke sharply.
“There are two conditions for joining the Student Council, Shiba-san. Do you know them?”
“First, only one first-year student can join, typically the freshman representative. If they don’t join, the opportunity passes down. Of course, this is an unwritten rule and can be broken under special circumstances.”
Miyuki’s face lit up with excitement, but Suzune’s next words disappointed her again.
“Second, Student Council members must be chosen from First Course students. This isn’t an unwritten rule.”
“It’s an absolute requirement. To forcibly change this rule, a decision must come from a general student assembly attended by the entire school, only then can the system be altered.”
