Title: No Ordinary People

“But how did you judge that we’re talented? After all, we’ve all been categorized as Second Course students.” Erika asked, propping her chin with one hand, full of curiosity.

Of course, she was confident she wasn’t inferior to anyone in the First Course, but she was very curious about how Kousen could tell.

“By looking, of course.”

“Looking?”

“Yes, I’m confident my eyesight is pretty good. I clearly saw Chiba-san charging her CAD with Psions earlier!”

Kousen pointed to his eyes and said.

“Impressive that you could tell it was my CAD!” Erika laughed heartily.

“That was your CAD?” Leo looked at Erika in shock.

His expression clearly delighted Erika, her smile widening.

“But constantly charging that specialized CAD requires a ton of Psions! With that amount of Psions, Erika, how did you end up as a Second Course student?” Miyuki asked with a hint of curiosity.

“It’s not that exaggerated. If I had to keep charging Psions, I’d be exhausted!”

Erika paused before continuing.

“I only charge Psions when each swing connects with an opponent. That way, it doesn’t drain too much.”

“Hm—that’s somewhat similar to the Helmet-Cutter principle.”

“Erika, I think, compared to charging large amounts of Psions, your ability to use this technique is even more surprising!”

“Especially since the Helmet-Cutter technique is practically a family secret!”

Miyuki clearly voiced everyone’s thoughts, and they all nodded in agreement.

“Really?”

“What about the others? How did you know?” Erika pressed.

Kousen and Erika locked eyes for a few seconds, then Kousen gave a resigned expression.

“Alright, I’ll explain further.”

“Leo, you don’t mind if I talk about you, right?”

After all, a magician’s information is highly sensitive. As mentioned before, if someone knows exactly what magic another person wields and their strengths, in a life-or-death battle, the one with more information is likely to lose, as their opponent can set traps based on their magic’s characteristics.

That’s why Kousen had to ask for Leo’s consent, as carelessly revealing someone’s magic could breed enmity.

“Go ahead.”

With Leo’s approval, Kousen continued.

“From my observation, Leo, when you charged forward earlier, in just two seconds, you hardened your entire body three times, right?”

“I think with your physical strength at that moment, even if you had taken my Psion mass head-on, you could’ve broken through unscathed.”

“That’s Sequential Deployment!” Honoka couldn’t stay silent anymore.

She hadn’t spoken earlier due to her shy nature, unsure of what to say.

But who would’ve thought their conversation would get so shocking? They were just Second Course students, yet some could use Helmet-Cutter and Sequential Deployment—two advanced techniques.

These techniques were clearly ones only a handful of A-rank magicians could master, yet they were now in the hands of Second Course students. How could that not be astonishing?

“You’re really impressive, Kousen.” Leo said, crossing his arms.

Of course, Kousen had noticed other things, but they involved Leo’s personal secrets. Even with his consent, not everything could be revealed.

(As expected, this guy’s eyes are just as I thought. I’ll have to be careful not to reveal too much in front of him in the future.)

Tatsuya confirmed his earlier suspicions, thinking to himself.

“Hearing all this, you guys are really amazing. Are ordinary people actually rare at our school?” Mizuki muttered softly.

“I think anyone who can get into Magic High School isn’t ordinary to begin with.”

Shizuku sipped her coffee, delivering a sharp comment.

“But speaking of that, your eyes are incredible! Even from that distance, with no actual clash in the fight, you could see so much.”

This time, Erika genuinely felt outdone. She had initially thought Kousen was just saying things to flatter her.

That’s why she pressed him to explain directly, as she despised insincere people.

But Kousen had explained everything with reason and evidence, proving he could see it with his own eyes, leaving her with nothing to say.

“But, Kousen, based on your family’s location, shouldn’t you be attending Second High?”

“Why did you specifically choose to come here?”

Tatsuya tried to gather information verbally.

“Specifically? No way!”

“I just felt that since all my older siblings are at Second High, I wanted a new environment, so I came to First High.”

Kousen, of course, couldn’t reveal the true reason.

The truth was that he knew Japan was about to face an incident, and the epicenter was at First High.

How could he possibly say that?

“Besides, I’ve always lived with my family since I was a kid. I was really looking forward to living independently, so I decided to move and attend First High.”

“I see.” Tatsuya replied calmly.

“Eh, Kousen, you live alone?” Leo asked.

“Yeah, my family has a house nearby, so I moved there. Come over sometime!”

“I’ll treat you all well.”

“Don’t let my appearance fool you—I’m pretty confident in my cooking skills!”

“What kind of dream guy are you? Great family, decent looks, strong magic, and you can even cook?”

Erika had genuinely never met a guy like this—at least not in her circle.

Even her second older brother, whom she admired most, was only strong in magic and kind.

“Thanks for the compliment.” Kousen smiled, accepting Erika’s praise.

“Sorry, let’s call it a day here. It’s getting dark outside.”

Shizuku glanced out the window, noticing the sky darkening, and stood up to suggest.

Though none of them had a curfew or anything, in this era, people typically didn’t linger outside without reason.

“You’re right. Today’s chat was really fun.”

“How about this—let’s all exchange contact info so we can hang out together later or something.”

Kousen stood and proposed, and everyone happily agreed.
