Kousen was tidying up his belongings when Mayumi appeared at the door again, but this time she wasn’t alone.
Outside the door stood another woman, tall with short hair, looking very spirited.
“Is something up, Saegusa-senpai?”
Today, Kousen didn’t want to waste time on unimportant matters, as he’d heard after school that someone was looking to cause trouble with Miyuki’s older brother.
So, he wanted to check it out, hoping to see Miyuki in action protecting her brother.
That way, he might catch some clues about Miyuki’s magic.
“Nothing much. Mari was just a bit curious about Kousen-kun, so I brought her to meet you.”
Mayumi said, waving her small hand at Kousen.
“Mayumi, I clearly said I wanted to meet him tomorrow at noon.”
“You’re the one who dragged me here, saying we had to come now.”
Watanabe Mari looked visibly exasperated by Mayumi’s spontaneity.
“Don’t overthink it, don’t overthink it.”
“Let me introduce you! This is the current Disciplinary Committee Chair, Watanabe Mari, my good friend.”
Mayumi clearly ignored Mari’s complaints, continuing to introduce Kousen.
Kousen quickly tidied his things and walked briskly toward Mayumi.
“Hello, Watanabe-senpai. My name is Kudou Kousen. I look forward to your guidance.”
“Watanabe Mari. I’ll look after you well.”
Kousen and Mari both extended their hands, shook briefly, and then released.
“But I’ve noticed something quite interesting, Mayumi?”
Mari scanned the two of them, piecing together their earlier conversation, as if something dawned on her, the corner of her mouth slowly curling.
“What’s that?” Mayumi tilted her head.
“Even though you just met this junior, the way you address each other is quite different.”
“Plus, during lunch today, you kept talking about this junior.”
“Mayumi, using me as an excuse doesn’t seem quite right, does it?”
“Mari, what are you talking about?! I just brought you to take a look.”
Mayumi didn’t show the blushing reaction Mari had hoped for.
Instead, she remained calm, making Mari wonder if her guess was wrong.
“Besides, I only mentioned Kousen-kun because he gave me a great idea to solve a problem.”
“Really?”
Mari narrowed her eyes, still feeling something was off with Mayumi.
Though Mayumi addressed a slightly familiar junior by their first name, letting a junior call her by her first name—Kousen was the first.
That alone made it hard for her to dismiss her suspicions.
However, both of them appeared too calm, showing no signs that anything had happened.
“Uh, while I enjoy chatting with both seniors, there’s something I’d like to check out.”
Seeing the two seniors seemingly ready to lean against the door and talk for a while, Kousen interrupted.
He had just glanced at his watch—Morisaki and his group had left about 20 minutes ago. If he delayed any longer, he feared he wouldn’t even catch the end of it.
“Is it something important? If so, it’s fine, go ahead and don’t mind us.” Mari said.
Kousen glanced at his watch again, sighed, and said, “If you both have time, want to come with me?”
“This matter should fall under Watanabe-senpai’s jurisdiction.”
At this point, no matter how fast he was, he wouldn’t make it in time. Might as well bring these two and resolve the issue directly!
As for observing Miyuki’s strength, he’d wait for another opportunity.
“Oh, explain the situation in detail.”
Mari grew interested in Kousen’s words.
“What’s going on?”
Mayumi’s expression also turned serious, as Kousen had said it was under Mari’s jurisdiction.
That meant it wasn’t a small matter.
“No need to be too serious, you two. Let’s pick up the pace—we can talk while running!”
Indeed, the three of them started running.
However, only Kousen looked like he was actually running, while Mayumi and Mari seemed to glide.
Their movements resembled skating on ice.
A faint blue Psion wave surrounded the three of them.
Kousen used a simple body-strengthening magic, ideal for magicians traveling long distances.
This magic consumed minimal Psions, offered decent speed, and while enhancing the body, it could also withstand unexpected attacks.
Mayumi and Mari, wearing skirts, couldn’t use the same magic as Kousen.
Instead, they used friction-reduction magic.
By reducing the friction between their shoe soles and the ground, they achieved a gliding motion, like skating on ice.
This was an advanced form of magic; self-acceleration was another high-level application of it.
Though this magic required a significant amount of Psions, both were highly skilled, with substantial Psion reserves, and the distance wasn’t too far.
So, there was no concern about using it for the journey.
“There they are.”
With their rapid acceleration, Kousen spotted two groups facing off ahead.
“What a miscalculation.”
Kousen had assumed that after so long, the two groups would have finished fighting, so he called Mari to clean up the aftermath.
Who would’ve thought they’d be so slow? He should’ve come alone quietly instead of calling Mari.
But since things had reached this point, Kousen couldn’t just stand by.
The universal earring-type CAD he designed on his earlobe activated. He extended his hand, and a red Psion mass shot straight toward the center of the confrontation.
“Who’s that?”
The voice belonged to Morisaki Shun, who had already aimed his pistol at his opponent.
He was confident that one shot would make the bulky Second Course student suffer.
Who would’ve thought that just as he was about to pull the trigger, a Psion mass disrupted his magic? How could that not infuriate him?
“That was close. Almost exploded.”
The bulky figure looked frightened. Unlike Morisaki, he had charged forward, causing the Psion mass to explode just a centimeter from his foot.
Though with his physique, a Psion mass of that strength wouldn’t cause significant damage, who wants to get hurt for no reason?
