Title: Gabriel with a Soft Heart

“Yeah.”

Ren took the key and put it in pocket.

“But what’s the meaning of that harsh line?”

“Who knows, I just said it casually.”

Gabriel didn’t explain it, just brushing it off vaguely.

“Oh.”

Seeing that she didn’t want to talk more, Ren didn’t ask further.

“Stop worrying about boring issues, let’s hurry and play the game.” Gabriel urged, “We can’t stay up all night like yesterday, so we need to cherish the time now.”

“Okay.”

Ren had just sat next to her when his phone suddenly vibrated.

While waiting for the laptop to boot up, he took out phone and checked it.

Nakano Miku: [I just found a good game! Let’s play together tonight.]

Nakano Miku: [Screenshot of the game]

Kamikawa Ren: [Sorry, Gabriel is back, so I want to hang out with her.]

His agreement with Miku was that they could play games together during the summer vacation, but now that the summer vacation was over, the agreement had automatically ended.

Nakano Miku: [Is that all? What happens next?]

Nakano Miku: [Will you play games with Gabriel at night from now on?]

Kamikawa Ren: [Yes.]

Nakano Miku: [Do you have time otherwise?]

Kamikawa Ren: [Probably not.]

Read, but no reply.

Just when he thought the conversation was over, the message came late.

Nakano Miku: [Okay, I understand.]

Nakano Miku: [Sorry to bother you.]

Kamikawa Ren: [No, we were just planning to play.]

Read, but still no reply.

“Who was messaging you?”

Seeing his action of putting down the phone, Gabriel stopped operating the mouse for a moment and asked curiously.

“Miku.”

Ren didn’t hide anything.

“I remember you mentioned in your letter to me that you would play games together and chat at night during the summer vacation, right?”

“Yes.”

Ren did write that in his letter.

Gabriel guessed based on his answer: “Then what message did she send you now? Did she ask you to play together?”

“Yes.”

“And what did you answer?”

Gabriel was used to the way Ren would answer whatever she asked, and besides, he didn’t answer at all.

“I refused.”

Ren recounted the conversation between them.

“...”

After listening, Gabriel was silent.

After a moment, she spoke again: “Seriously, Kamikawa, are you too cruel?”

“How could I be cruel?” Ren was confused.

“I’m talking about rejecting people.”

From the two incidents of rejecting Nino’s confession and now rejecting Miku’s invitation to play together, one could see how skilled Ren was in cutting off relationships.

“I just told the truth.”

Ren felt there was nothing wrong with what he did.

Could it be that telling the truth was still wrong?

“Really...”

Gabriel struggled for a while, then picked up her phone and started tapping on the screen.

Seeing her busy with something else, Ren planned to open the game and wait.

“Don’t open it yet. We don’t need to play any game tonight.” Gabriel reminded loudly.

Hearing this, Ren waited obediently.

Not long after, Gabriel put down her phone and said to him, “Let’s play an online game again, and Miku will join us.”

“Miku? Were you just chatting with Miku?”

Thinking of her behavior of holding the phone just now, Ren concluded.

“Yes.” Gabriel closed the online game she was playing and asked, “How do you usually talk to Miku? What software do you use, or anything else?”

“Directly use LINE for voice calls.” Ren answered.

“Then I don’t need to use any special software.” Gabriel said casually, “Anyway, we’re together and we can hear you when we voice call.”

“Okay.”

There was nothing wrong with that, it’s just...

“Why did you invite Miku to play together?”

Gabriel asked, “What’s the matter? Don’t you want to hang out with Miku?”

“No, it’s not that I don’t want to hang out with Miku, I just don’t understand why you did that.”

This was what Ren really didn’t understand.

“Because I want to, no other reason.”

Gabriel didn’t want to explain too much.

As a gamer, she could understand how painful it would be if a good friend who often played games with you suddenly said he would never play with you again and wanted to play with someone else.

Not to mention that person was someone you had a crush on.

Even though she didn’t know Miku very well and didn’t have much contact, she could still vaguely see what Miku thought through some details.

After all, Nakano Miku was the only one who called Ren by his first name.

In other words, Miku had a high possibility of being her love rival.

However, even so, she still sent the invitation to Miku to play together.

Mainly, she couldn’t stand Ren’s cruel approach, and his rejection without any affection was too heartless.

Of course, this could also be explained by Gabriel’s overflowing sympathy and pity for Miku.

But this statement was too belittling, and she didn’t want to say it.

Therefore, no explanation was needed.

“Then what will we play later?”

Ren accepted Gabriel’s statement.

Sometimes she behaved inexplicably, which he could understand.

“What kind of game do you and Miku usually play?” Gabriel didn’t answer, but asked this question, “I don’t want to choose a type of game she doesn’t like.”

“I can’t explain it well, just ask her directly.”

Ren didn’t know if telling Miku about the online Sengoku game would reveal Miku’s preferences, so he decided to leave the choice to Miku.

“Yeah, that’s fine too.”

Gabriel expressed her understanding.

It was difficult for her to explain the genre.

“Then I’ll call Miku.”

Before making the call, Ren confirmed.

Gabriel seemed to remember something and explained further: “By the way, don’t think that playing online games with Miku at night in the future is a normal thing. Whether you want to play online games with Miku or not depends on my mood.”

“I see.”

Ren really thought so now.

“Also, after the connection with Miku is over, you have to hang out with me alone.” Gabriel emphasized, “I can’t have less time.”

Although she was soft-hearted and wanted to play online games with Miku at night, it didn’t mean she would give the game time entirely to Miku.
