Title: Maybe I’m Just Being Sentimental

“What’s wrong?”

With his tie stuck, Ren could only stop and leave.

“I remember when you wore the uniform before, you never wore a tie.”

As someone who personally tied his tie, Gabriel was well aware of this habit of his.

“Senpai tied it for me.” Ren explained.

“I see.”

After receiving this answer, Gabriel loosened the tie.

“Gabriel, is there anything else you want to ask?”

“Nothing else for now. You can go back. I’ll knock on the door later.”

Gabriel waved her hand, dismissing him casually, and then immediately closed the door.

When she went to the bathroom and saw herself in the mirror, she sighed.

“Sure enough, there are other changes.”

Her relationship with Ren hadn’t changed at all after the summer vacation, but that didn’t mean Ren and others hadn’t changed during this summer vacation.

“So, did you call Gabriel?”

Asumi who was already sitting at the dining table, asked Ren who opened the door and entered.

“Um, she’ll be here later.”

Answering, Ren sat across from her.

“Then while we wait for her to come, let’s talk about some trivial things.” Asumi casually continued the conversation.

“What do you want to talk about?”

Ren didn’t mind chatting with others.

The premise was that the topic shouldn’t be too difficult, and the content shouldn’t be too vague.

“Today is the first day of school, so we should talk about school-related topics.” Asumi seemed to have planned the conversation.

“I see.”

Ren could still talk about simple topics like that.

Asumi started the topic: “By the way, did you and Gabriel ever go to school together in the past?”

“Yes.”

“Do you feel uncomfortable now?”

“What do you mean?”

Such a vague question made him unsure of what she was asking.

“The fact that you have one more person, after all, I’ll be going to school with you in the future.”

Asumi pointed to herself, a tone of concern in her voice.

“We don’t know yet, after all, it hasn’t happened. But it should be fine.”

Ren couldn’t give a definitive answer because habits are not only hard to break but also hard to articulate accurately.

“Then let’s try going to school together this morning. But even if you’re not used to it, I won’t give up.”

Asumi didn’t show any disappointment at his answer.

“Oh.”

This was something that had been planned for a long time. There was no need to refuse and no way to refuse.

*Knock* *Knock*

As soon as this topic ended, there was a knock on the door.

“I’ll get the door.”

Asumi stopped Ren from getting up and walked towards the door.

Opening the door, Gabriel appeared in front of her.

“Kamikawa, you opened the door so...”

Before Gabriel could finish her sentence, she was interrupted as Asumi was the one who opened the door.

Asumi greeted her with a smile: “Come in, Gabriel.”

“Senpai, if possible, I hope you can watch your tone and not say things to me as if you’re the owner here.”

Gabriel was quite dissatisfied with her tone. Just hearing it made her feel like an outsider.

No matter how she looked at it, the relationship between good friends was much closer than the distant relationship between senior and junior.

“Sorry, I didn’t realize it at all.”

That’s what she said, but Asumi didn’t say anything to correct it.

Gabriel snorted coldly, walked in, and closed the door.

Asumi also returned to the dining table and sat in her seat again.

Seeing their seating order, Gabriel chose a seat next to Ren.

Placing breakfast in the center of the dining table in front of her, she then asked, “Can we eat now? I’m a bit hungry.”

“Sure.”

Asumi’s answer was quite short.

“Ittadakimasu.”

So, the three of them clasped their hands together with their chopsticks and said this almost simultaneously.

“Thank you for your hard work today, senpai. You had to make breakfast for three people alone.”

Shortly after starting breakfast, Gabriel thanked Asumi.

“You’re welcome. Usually, I only need to make breakfast for two people. It’s no problem to make one more now.” Asumi replied very calmly.

“Then, about the lunchbox today...”

“Don’t worry about it. I’ve also made a lunchbox. It’s just that due to limited time, it’s not very fancy.”

Asumi turned and pointed to the lunchboxes placed in the kitchen, answering easily.

“Surprising.” Gabriel poked at the rice with her chopsticks, “I thought if Senpai didn’t do it, I’d go to the school cafeteria.”

“Then, did I ruin your original plan by doing this? Forgive me.” Asumi bowed her head and said.

“No need to apologize for something like this.” Gabriel shook her head, “I’ll do it with you tomorrow.”

Asumi said thoughtfully, “If you can’t wake up, don’t force yourself.”

“Of course, I can wake up. There was just a little accident today.” Gabriel defended herself.

If she had known this, she wouldn’t have kept Ren awake all night.

“Um.”

Just chatting about irrelevant topics, an ordinary breakfast ended.

“It’s a bit awkward going to school with Senpai.”

On the way to school, Gabriel turned and looked at Asumi, who was on Ren’s right side, and spoke lightly.

Since the three of them were going to school together, it was natural for Ren to be in the middle, and she and Asumi stood on either side of him.

“Is it because having one more person makes it embarrassing to say something?” Asumi said.

“No, I just feel not used to it.” Pulling her gaze, Gabriel looked straight ahead, “In the past, Kamikawa and I basically went to school together, so it might take time for me to adapt to Senpai’s presence.”

“Forgive me, Gabriel.”

Asumi opened her mouth, wanting to say something but then closed it again.

“It’s okay. Actually, I’m the one who should apologize.”

Gabriel glanced at Ren, who was listening attentively, and said with a bitter smile.

“Maybe I’m just being sentimental.”
