Title: Holding Hands While Floating

“When did Gab’s character become so bad?”

Vigne looked at Gabriel, who was happily dragging Itsuki and Rizu onto the hovercraft, and asked in surprise.

“I don’t know either.”

Raphiel had an inexplicable smile on her face.

With a push from the staff, Gabriel’s group’s hovercraft slid down the pipe.

Moments later, Itsuki and Rizu’s screams and Gabriel’s proud laughter echoed.

“Who’s next?”

Since Gabriel left, Raphiel acted as the one controlling the situation.

“Me and Vigne!”

Satania raised her hand enthusiastically.

“Great.”

As the others slid down one by one in their groups, soon only Raphiel, Fumino, Miku, and Ren were left on the platform.

“Then we’ll go next.”

After getting on the hovercraft, Raphiel turned to the remaining two and said.

“See you later.”

Asumi waved to them, and then their hovercraft was pushed down by the staff, and cheerful noises echoed through the pipe.

The staff placed a new hovercraft in front of the pipe, and Ren reminded Miku, who had her head down, lost in thought, “It’s our turn now.”

“Um.”

Hearing his voice, Miku immediately lifted her head.

“So, two people, please sit inside, and the person in the back should use their legs to hold the person in front...”

Even though this was said multiple times as the previous groups sat down, the staff still responsibly emphasized it again.

“Huh?”

At this moment, Miku realized a rather ambiguous question and hurriedly asked him, “Ren, who will be in front and who will be in the back?”

For other combinations, this order didn’t matter at all, as they were all girls.

But when it came to them, it became very important.

Because if Ren was in front, he would lean against her, possibly resting on her stomach, and vice versa, she would rest on him.

“Either way, you decide.”

Ren didn’t think this was important.

“I’ll sit in front, no, you should sit in front. Wait, maybe it would be better if you sit in front.”

Feeling his gaze, Miku lowered her head again and struggled with the decision.

“You should be in front.”

Finally, Miku made a decision.

“Sure.”

So Ren sat in the front of the hovercraft, while Miku sat behind, carefully placing her thighs on his shoulders, and resting her calves in the gap created by holding the armrest with both hands.

Because of the hovercraft’s size, to avoid it being too crowded, Ren placed his feet on the edge of the hovercraft so they hovered in the air and didn’t take up internal space.

However, this position made Ren lie down, with his head gently resting on Miku’s soft stomach.

“I’m sorry.”

The next second, Ren suddenly reacted, hurriedly sat up, and apologized to Miku at the same time.

“It’s okay, it’s fine for you to lie like that.”

The ambiguous action made Miku blush, but she still tried her best to keep her voice steady to avoid excessive tone fluctuations.

“Is that really okay?”

Ren asked anxiously.

“Um.” Miku repeated in a low voice, “After all, there’s nothing we can do, the space is just that big.”

It was just a small amount of physical contact, nothing to worry about at all.

She convinced herself in her heart.

“Alright, thank you.”

With her permission, Ren lay down again.

“Mhm...”

Miku tried hard to control her increasingly strange mood to keep herself stable.

“Miku, are you scared?”

Ren suddenly asked, making Miku look at him again.

“W-What’s up?” She stammered.

“Your body is trembling.”

With such close physical contact between them, Ren could clearly sense the changes in her body.

“Yeah, I’m just scared.” Miku finally found a suitable excuse and hurriedly admitted, “Sliding down from such a height on a hovercraft, I feel like there’s nothing to rely on, and I always feel like I’m going to fall.”

“Want to hold my hand?”

After releasing his left hand from holding the armrest, Ren extended it back.

“Huh?”

Seeing the outstretched white palm in front of her, Miku was stunned.

“Hold my hand, maybe you can get some support.” Ren explained, “Or you can just hold the armrest.”

“Then I’ll take your hand.”

Between the two choices of the armrest and his left hand, Miku made her choice without hesitation.

After swallowing, she placed her left hand in his left hand, gently interlocking their fingers.

“Mhm...”

The warmth in his palm distracted Miku a bit, and she didn’t even care about the hovercraft about to slide down.

“Please be careful, you two, it’s about to start.”

The staff looked at the two holding hands, ensuring they didn’t say another word between the couple, and then reminded them.

“Um.”

Ren replied softly, while Miku bowed her head shyly, lost in her thoughts.

The hovercraft jumped down the pipe, and the water splashed brought Miku back from her world, making her aware of her surroundings again.

But she didn’t scream at all and remained very calm.

“Ren.” She called out softly.

“What?”

Ren responded quickly.

“Rafting is fun.”

Looking at their left hands joined together, Miku smiled softly, her voice as gentle as a summer night’s breeze.

“Yes, it’s interesting.”

“Let’s do it again later.”

“Okay.”

“After that, we went rafting again and finished.”

After saying this in one breath, Miku lifted her legs onto the sofa, hugged her knees with her hands, and fell sideways weakly, with an unusual blush on her cheeks.

“Wait a minute, Miku, you held hands with Ren-san?”

Yotsuba didn’t forget how Miku said she and Ren held hands and spoke very dissatisfiedly.

Itsuki looked incredulous: “Miku, you really held hands with Kamikawa-kun at the water park!”

“I wasn’t holding hands, I was just holding his hand for safety. At that time, I was worried about falling off the hovercraft.”

Miku’s words of explanation were similar to Yotsuba’s earlier explanation.
