Added 2022-02-06 15:01:13 +0000 UTCCanaries usually lay 1-2 eggs during/right after each heat whether they get impregnated or not. After laying there's a 1-week window where the embryo hasn't started developing enough to see (via candling) if the egg is fertilized or not. During this time it's considered just fine to crack the egg/eggs if you don't want to raise offspring for whatever reason.

that's what I was thinking too, can't stop your body from wasting nutrients to make a big huge egg that isn't even fertilized, but you can at least try to get some of them back

Eating someone elseโs egg without permission would definitely be considered rude but making a big olโ pan of scrambled eggs out of your own egg is maybe fine?
