FULL ALBUM: Jean-Luc Ponty - Enigmatic Ocean

This one’s been a long time coming. We've had this LP proudly sitting in the background of our videos since the early days of our channel... and somehow, we never actually listened to it until now!

Nick has been looking forward to this one forever — as you MUST know by now, Allan Holdsworth (🥃) is one of his ultimate guitar idols, and hearing him in this fusion setting with Jean-Luc Ponty was an absolute ride.

Expect jazz fusion madness, soaring violin leads, mind-bending solos, and a LOT of excitement from us as we take it all in for the first time.

We’re so grateful for your support here on Patreon — it means the world to us. We truly love this community we've built together. 💜

Love always,
Lex, Nick & Marley

Not sure if you noticed, but the sound level on the first segment (before the title track) seemed to have very low volume - at least, I had to crank my sound bar to the max just to barely hear it. However, the sound level recovered to a reasonable level for the second and remaining segments. Did anyone else notice this? If it wasn't just me, then be careful about extracting the first tracks for YT, unless you can fix the levels in post processing. On the other hand, it was a great album and your reactions were genuine and excellent - I think I've had the vinyl for a long time, but apparently didn't listen to it as much as I did others of his stuff, my loss back then, but I'll have to correct that now.

Great Scott

I am so happy you two reacted to this fantastic Jean-Luc Ponty album. I bought a little after it came out and always enjoy listening to it. Crazy about this type of music anyway.

Unbelievably good I have not listened to it in its entirety in years. Thanks I will remedy that mistake and download this ASAP. The bassist Ralphe Armstrong is from Detroit and began his career at 17 playing with John McLaughlin in Mahavishnu Orchestra from 1973 to 1975. He went on to play with lots of heavy hitters. So glad you got to hear these missing Holdsworth guitar performances. Great to watch all the smiles and recognition of his playing. Tears were shed. FANTASTICO 🎻🎸🌈👍😃

Such unbelievable music ! so good! I told my brother on the east coast about this album and he told me in the late 70's he saw Jean Luc Ponty with AL Dimeola and Stanley Clarke and it was a fabulous concert in DC area

Wow! Fantastic reaction. I owned the vinyl decades ago. Somehow I forgot and never got the CD. CORRECTED! And thank you both for continuing to be the best reaction channel. You are great. Now I have to think of more albums to recommend for the poll...
